Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Meets Commanding Officers of KPA
Present on the occasion were Pak Jong Chon, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, and Minister Ri Yong Gil and other leading officials of the Ministry of National Defence and commanders of the services and the corps of the KPA.
They were filled with boundless gratitude towards the respected Supreme Commander who bestows all laurels upon his soldiers, although he made the grand military parade of April a striking demonstration of the absolute strength and military technological superiority of the armed forces of our Republic capable of defeating any formidable enemy in the world and a revolutionary event giving redoubled faith in sure victory to all the people in the country.
Kim Jong Un warmly shook the hands of the army commanding officers offering a salute of loyalty and highly praised their contributions to celebrating the 90th anniversary of the KPRA, a significant and glorious event in the history of the Korean revolution and the nation, with a magnificent military parade.
Noting the first step taken by our revolutionary armed forces with two pistols has led to the dignified advance of the matchless revolutionary army of the Party never to be found in other parts of the world, and the Mauser shot heard in the forests of Antu has been amplified by the deafening firing sound of the Hwasongpho to humble the hostile forces bragging about their military edge, he said that such world-startling brilliant reality is a glorious history of victory of the armed forces of our Republic that will be engraved in golden letters in the history of the country.
He said that in the present world, where a force clashes with another fiercely and one can preserve one's dignity, rights and interests only when one gets stronger, the tremendous offensive power, the overwhelming military muscle that no force in the world can provoke, is the lifeline guaranteeing the security of our country and people and the future of posterity.
Expressing the Party Central Committee's firm will to surely maintain the absolute superiority of our revolutionary armed forces and constantly develop it to preemptively and thoroughly contain and frustrate all dangerous attempts and threatening moves, including ever-escalating nuclear threats from hostile forces, if necessary, he stressed the need for the commanding officers to boldly open up a new stage of development of the revolutionary armed forces, steadfastly adhering to the army-building orientation and general line of the Party.
Then, he had a meaningful photo taken with the commanding officers of the revolutionary armed forces, expressing his expectations and belief that they would put their heart and soul, wisdom and passion entirely into the sacred cause for bolstering up the self-defence capabilities of our great state in every way with confidence in sure victory, not forgetting even a moment their noble duty for the country, the revolution and the people.
The commanding officers, who received his special trust and benevolence again, extended the highest glory to the ever-victorious iron-willed commander who ushers in a new period of strengthening the national defence capabilities, developing our revolutionary armed forces that inherited the glorious traditions of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners into the strongest army in the world.
All the participants hardened their resolve to strive with redoubled courage to further consolidate the matchless military muscle that no one dares provoke, true to the great Party Central Committee's idea and line on building the revolutionary armed forces, and thus defend the Party and revolution impregnably and steadily display the dignity and might of the DPRK, our powerful country.
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Has Photo Session with Students and Working Youths
Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Sunday had a photo session with the students and working youths in Pyongyang City who contributed to the successful military parade celebrating the 90th founding anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA).
Attending the session were Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, and Kim Yong Hwan, chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK.
The youths and students were filled with great excitement and joy over the fact that they were to have a significant photo taken with the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un after attending the greatest-ever political and military festival which fully demonstrated the dignity of our country and the might of its great single-minded unity.
When Kim Jong Un arrived at the photo session venue, all the participants broke into stormy cheers of "hurrah!" for him who has vigorously guided Korean-style socialism only to victory and glory, always valuing the youth and regarding the youth issue as the top priority state affair to train the young people to be a huge unit of successors.
He warmly waved back to the enthusiastically cheering youths and students, highly appreciating their contribution to glorifying the 90th anniversary of the KPRA as an unprecedented, grand festival of single-minded unity and as a showcase theatre of the national power.
Noting that the spirit of our youths is very high, he said the rosy future of our-style socialism is for the youths and it is the sacred patriotic cause that should be hastened by their efforts.
Our youths have regarded the loyalty to the Party and revolution as their high honor and pride and spent their youthful days with ardent patriotism and high enthusiasm for the revolution and struggle, he said, adding it is the proud traits peculiar to the Korean youths that can neither be seen nor be imitated in any society of the world. And he extended thanks to them who rendered excellent service to the successful military parade, the largest-ever in history, with their good teamwork and artistry, strikingly displaying the sense of organization and solidarity of our society.
Expressing his deep trust and expectation that our youths and students will become dependable pillars playing a leading role in the struggle for the country's prosperity by getting intent on the studies with the same high ardor and revolutionary mettle as were displayed by them in the celebration event, he had a meaningful photo session with them.
When the photo session was over, loud chants of "Kim Jong Un" and "Kyolsaongwi" (devoted defence) shouted by the young vanguard of the WPK resounded throughout the sky of the capital city of Pyongyang.
Encouraged by such warm love and trust of the great father, the students and working youths made their burning pledge to more vigorously advance toward the rosy future of socialism and communism, displaying to the full the strength based on loyalty of all sons and daughters in this country and the honor of being the youths of a powerful country who firmly believe in and follow only the WPK.
Country Where Working People Are Masters
May Day – this day is an international holiday of the working people around the globe.
Whenever this day comes around every year, the hearts of our people are overflowing with deep gratitude for peerless great men who elevated the dignity and position of working people to the highest level and led the revolution and construction along the road of victory, relying on their militant might and creative strength.
Saying that our world is the one for the working class, President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il made the workers, peasants, and intellectuals, once maltreated and oppressed, into the masters of the factories, the land and the country, opened up the era of Chollima as well as the era of the Workers’ Party of Korea featuring epoch-making changes by calling forth their creative wisdom and passion, kindled the torch of a new revolutionary upsurge and laid firm foundation for the building of a thriving nation.
Premises of factories, ridgeways and scientific research centers in every nook and cranny of the country are associated with the noble leadership of the great leaders, and such priceless appellations as model of era and hero given to the ordinary workers connote the warm love and trust of the great leaders.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un has honored our working class, scientists and technicians with the highest trust of being called heroic working class of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, and vanguard unit, outpost troops safeguarding the Party and revolution, and guides them to invariably continue the brilliant tradition of struggle of the workers of Juche Korea from generation to generation.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un initiated the construction of the world-class residential district of terraced apartment buildings on the bank of the River Pothong, the center of the capital city, where there was once the house of the great President, in order to give them to the working people. He himself became a designer, construction owner and builder to ensure that it is built up on the highest level. He also was present at its inauguration ceremony and earnestly said that our Party only did as had been desired by the President and that President would be glad to hear that homes of happiness for patriots and meritorious workers are built today at the very place where his house was removed.
The fact that the owners of palatial luxury homes are none other than the ordinary people is the reality that cannot be even conceived of in the capitalist world where the main luxurious quarters of capital city belong to the rich. This shows as it is the superiority of the socialist system of our own style where the popular masses are enjoying the independent and creative life to their hearts’ content as masters of the state and the society.
Foreign guests who have witnessed our country’s reality where the working people are held up as heaven and nothing is spared for them could hardly refrain from expressing his or her great admiration, saying “the country where the working people are learning, working and living without any worry is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” and “DPRK is the only country where the Party and state provide the good living conditions to the workers.”
In this world, there are no such workers as our workers, agricultural workers, and intellectuals who lead dignified and worthwhile life, being blessed with the leaders one generation after another.
All of our workers who are celebrating May Day with the great pride and self-confidence in holding the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in high esteem as the great sun are full of determination to further demonstrate the heroic mettle of the socialist workers of Juche in all-people grand march to achieve the overall development of socialist construction.
We Live Here
Working people of different sectors in Pyongyang received the certificates for moving into houses in the Pothong Riverside Terraced House District in Kyongru-dong, Central District, Pyongyang, in April.
They are ordinary people who are working devotedly in their different workplaces.
Among them are announcers, weavers, scientists and lecturers and old artists, writers and drivers.
After settling in the luxury houses, they repeatedly expressed their gratitude to the Workers’ Party of Korea for providing them with such fine houses.
Ri Myong Sun, weaver of the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill, moved into apartment block No. 13-2 of Kyongru-dong, said,
“It was a civil duty I assumed for the country that I have continuously conducted the multi-loom tending movement for over 20 years. The reality of a weaver becoming the owner of a deluxe house is possible only in our socialist country.”
Ho Myong Gum, Merited Driver of the Ryonmot Trolley Bus Station, said she feels excited whenever she remembers Kim Jong Un saying that the Korean people, who firmly take power in their hands, are those who deserve to lead a happy and highly civilized life on this land. And she added, “As workers like me received the top-class dwelling houses free of charge, I was overwhelmed by such a blessing that can be found nowhere else in the world. I could hardly go to sleep at the thought that I would live in such a splendid and hotel-like house.”
The working people who moved to Kyongru-dong unanimously expressed their will to redouble their efforts for the prosperity of the country, without forgetting the trust in them of the Party which regards them as the cornerstone and pillar of the state.
A New Scene by the Pothong River

These are houses in the Pothong riverside terraced houses district newly-built on the bank of the Pothong River in Pyongyang. Terraced-, multi- and low-storeyed houses and public welfare facilities are arranged in good harmony. The distinctive houses blend in well with its surrounding environment, thus face-lifting the scenery of the Pothong River.
