Statement of Spokesman for DPRK Foreign Ministry
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry issued the following statement on Oct. 31:
The situation in the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity has entered the serious confrontation phase of power for power again due to the ceaseless and reckless military moves of the U.S. and south Korea.
The large-scale field mobile exercise, Hoguk, was staged across south Korea from Oct. 17 to 28, and a few days later, the largest-ever U.S.-south Korea joint air drill, Vigilant Storm, was started.
This drill involving more than hundreds of fighters of different missions such as F-35Bs based in Japan is a war drill for aggression mainly aimed at striking the strategic targets of the DPRK in case of contingency in the Korean Peninsula.
Owing to the large-scale war exercises staged by the U.S. and its vassal forces almost every day this year, the Korean Peninsula remains the hotspot with the most serious military tensions in the world and the security circumstances in the region have become grimmer.
The joint military exercises of the U.S. and its vassal forces have the more clear aggressive nature than any other ones everywhere else of the world in terms of the period, scale, contents and density.
The U.S.-south Korea joint military exercises, staged in April on a full scale through the "combined command exercises", were turned into a large-scale field mobile drill "Ulji Freedom Shield" in August and then into large-scale joint naval exercises and the largest-ever joint air drill involving a nuclear carrier task force in September and October. All the facts clearly show that the U.S. nuclear war scenario against the DPRK has entered the final stage.
For the U.S. to describe the DPRK's self-defensive military counteraction as an act of escalating the tensions is very absurd and this is just like a guilty party filing the suit first. It is because the U.S. is staging such war exercises for aggression as the large-scale landing drill and "decapitation" of the leadership aimed at occupying the territory and depth of the opposite party.
The DPRK reminds once again of the fact that the recent military drills by units of the Korean People's Army were carried out under the unstable security circumstances created by the U.S. and south Korea.
The U.S. is trying to shift the responsibility for the escalated tensions onto the DPRK after making it take a countermeasure by getting on its nerves militarily under the signboard of "annual" and "defensive" exercises. But such scheme can no longer work to conceal its true colors as the chief culprit in destroying peace and security.
The U.S., the one and only country in the world which sets it as a main target of nuclear strategy to "topple the government" of a sovereign state, must be prepared for paying an equal price for its attempt to use military force against the DPRK.
The DPRK is ready to take all necessary measures for defending its sovereignty, people's security and territorial integrity from outside military threats. If the U.S. continuously persists in the grave military provocations, the DPRK will take into account more powerful follow-up measures.
If the U.S. does not want any serious developments not suited to its security interests, it should stop the useless and ineffective war exercises at once. If not, it will have to totally take the blame for all the consequences.
October 25th is a meaningful day. The day marks the 8th anniversary since respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the newly built Pyongyang Baby Home and Pyongyang Children’s Home and left a trace of paternal affection and love.
The respected Marshal exerted himself tirelessly to build the Pyongyang Baby Home and Pyongyang Children’s Home into today’s wonderful and warm cradle for children. As we think about it, his tireless efforts and dedication appear in our eyes.
The respected Marshal initiated the building of a Baby Home and Children’s Home as a prototype in the world, and personally selected the picturesque bankside of River Taedong as their location. He also looked at the blueprints on several occasions, giving invaluable teachings on the construction work.
He dispatched the most experienced and efficient construction unit to the site. When the buildings’ frameworks were in near completion, he went up and down the dangerous scaffolding and settled the problems arising in the construction one by one.
Despite the sweltering mid-summer heat, he inspected the construction site time after time to compare the actual buildings with the blueprints, and gave teachings to create a mock-up of the buildings’ interior designs with pictures of animals so as to capture the children’s fancy. Thanks to such burning love for posterity of the respected Marshal, the Pyongyang Baby Home and Pyongyang Children’s Home was built into palaces for children to be envied by the world peoples within a short period of only 8 months.
On October 25, 2014, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un looked around various parts of the completed Baby Home and Children’s Home and gave parental affection and love to the orphans, concerned lest even a pinprick of shadow is cast over their hearts.
In the entrance hall of the Baby Home, he suggested that the floor should be covered with rubber sheets rather than tiles so that the children won’t get hurt when they fall to the ground while running around.
Taking a look around the living rooms, he was so considerate to make sure nothing goes amiss in the living conditions of the children. He said that if the room temperature varies, the children could catch a cold.
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un warmly said that it is our Party’s fixed determination to bring up all orphans to be pillars of the country, saying that we should train them to be the able workers of the country possessed of sound moral traits and high level of cultural attainment by putting in much effort in educating each of them from their childhood.
He also blessed the bright future of the orphans, saying that we should bring them up well so that they would become famous scientists, sportsmen, artists, soldiers and even heroes.
Today, our orphans with the blessing of the sun are stoutly preparing themselves to become the masters of the future with nothing to envy in the world at the Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home, overflowing with parental affection and love.
So foreign guests who visited the Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home during their stay in our country expressed their excited feelings as follows:
The U.S. and the West are making a fuss about the human rights situation of the DPRK, but they are all telling a lie. There are no orphans here and all the children are living happily under the loving care of H.E. Kim Jong Un.
Today, a train of gross violations of human rights is now being committed across the world, including forced labour and human trafficking of orphans. Orphans, bereft of hopes or ambitions for the future, are being reduced to following the path of crime and degeneration.
However, in our country – the one and only socialist paradise in the world, every child is growing strong into the pillars of the country while enjoying to the full all good fortunes of the world.
Indeed, the future of our children is bright and promising as respected Comrade Kim Jong Un - the father of one large family of the country - is blessing and protecting the future of all the people.
Wretched “Political Maid” In a Last-Ditch Attempt
It was her debut after taking office. She may have longed for a big applause, but she was driven into a corner being ridiculed and condemned by the world people who branded her as a “special puppet”, not a “special rapporteur”.
The country-specific “special rapporteur” of the UN Human Rights Council is, from the outset, a result of political stratagem, fabricated by the U.S. and the West, targeting independent countries of their dislike. Thus, it thoroughly represents the interests of the forces of backstage manipulation.
Let us see the first report written by the “special rapporteur”, who talks about “victims centered approach” at every possible opportunity.
It rather stands on the side of the offender and takes issue with the victim as it is based on the false information provided by the forces that deny the existence of our state and the inhumane criminal forces that flew malignant virus into our country in order to inflict harm on the life safety of our people.
During the debate on the report by the “special rapporteur”, the U.S. and the West were condemned for misusing false information about the human rights situation in the DPRK in their smear campaign against the DPRK for several decades, and voices were also raised, clamoring for the termination of such anachronistic behaviors. This is not accidental.
The “special rapporteur” is now bringing the sacred UN arena into disrepute with the false data fabricated from the impure political motives of the U.S. and the West. Thus, it is only natural that all people denounce such a behavior as the height of abnormality.
It would be useless to say more because she was reduced to a “political maid” from the very moment when she was appointed to the post of “special rapporteur”.
We have already reiterated on several occasions that we have never recognized the post of “special rapporteur” on human rights situation in the DPRK as it is a mere political tool of the foolish ones scheming to tarnish the image of our state and to overthrow the socialist system.
That the “special rapporteur” and the U.S., which protects and manipulates her, are making a fuss about someone’s “human rights violation” and “accountability” is like banging their heads against a brick wall, and is nothing more than a desperate effort of the ones trembling with apprehension and fear about the reality of our state which is ever-thriving.
No matter how they play sly tricks distorting the reality of our state, the people-centered socialist system will remain unshakable where people become the masters with their dignity and rights being given an absolute priority.

With Firm Faith in Socialism
In the 1990s an abnormal situation took place in some countries where socialism collapsed and capitalism revived. The imperialists took advantage of the opportunity to fuss about the “end” of socialism and the “victory” of capitalism over socialism. The renegades of socialism tried to justify their despicable betrayal, claiming that the ideal of socialism itself is invalid and that it was a mistake to make the socialist revolution.
At this juncture, Chairman Kim Jong Il made public an immortal classic work Socialism Is a Science on November 1, Juche 83 (1994), to prove the absolute truthfulness and invincibility of socialism as a science.
In his work he clarified that man-centred socialism, socialism centred on the popular masses, is absolutely scientific, and the most advantageous and powerful socialism and that although socialism is temporarily experiencing a heart-rending setback because of opportunism, it is sure to emerge victorious for its scientific accuracy and truth, thus instilling firm faith in socialism into the hearts of the Korean people.
Cherishing the unshakable faith in the Juche-oriented socialism which President Kim Il Sung pioneered and advanced, he defended the Korean-style socialism from the vicious moves of the imperialists and reactionaries to isolate and stifle the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and victoriously advanced the socialist cause.
The Korean people still remember the painstaking efforts he made to ceaselessly inspect the units of the Korean People’s Army, displaying iron will and superhuman energy to safeguard and add brilliance to the socialist country in the 1990s when the fate of the country and the nation and the future of socialism were hanging in the balance.
He was on an endless journey of on-site guidance, singing himself the words of a song that I will take this road full of hope even if nobody understands my mind. For him, it was the road to defend the country and the long journey of history he made with faith in socialism.
His devoted efforts bore good results. In the hot wind of going beyond the cutting edge of science and technology, the flames of the industrial revolution in the new century flared up, an artificial earth satellite was launched into outer space, such monumental structures as Thaechon, Nyongwon and Wonsan Youth power stations and Youth Hero Motorway mushroomed, the large-scale land realignment and gravity-fed waterway projects were completed and modern light-industry and livestock bases and bases for cultural and leisure activities were built in different parts of the country.
All these eye-opening achievements were the shining victory won by the heroic struggle of the Korean people who, in support of his leadership, have risen up as one with faith in sure victory of socialism, surmounting manifold hardships and difficulties.
Along with the advance of history, the DPRK has been consolidated more firmly as an impregnable fortress of socialism, the single-hearted unity of the leader, the Party and the masses of the people and the might of great army-people unity have been demonstrated to the full, and the overall strength of the country increased markedly.
Still today, the Korean people are building socialism in the face of harsh challenges and manifold difficulties. However, cherishing the unshakable faith in victory of the cause of socialism, they are vigorously stepping up the advance of history for achieving the comprehensive prosperity and development of Korean-style socialism, resolutely frustrating all challenges under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
Chongsokjong, Scenic Spot in DPRK
Chongsokjong (group of stone pillars), located on the seashore of the township of Thongchon County, Kangwon Province, has long been known as one of the eight scenic spots in the northeastern part of Korea and a famous coastal scenic spot in the DPRK for its wondrous cliffs and rocks.
The angular stone pillars along the shore of the sea form wonderful shapes.
The stone pillars are wonderfully and mysteriously rooted in the clear sea, in groups or alone. Among them are Sasonbong, where four fairies were said to have had a great time, a stone bridge whose construction to the Palace of the King Dragon with the stone pillars was suspended, being carried away by the beauty of Chongsokjong, as well as a couple rock and a turtle rock.
The sunrise and the night scene under silvery moonlight over Chongsokjong are so spectacular.
Birds nesting on the cliff of Chongsokjong, pine trees growing strong with their roots deep into the cracks in rocks and splashes of waves running into the stone pillars all add beauty to the landscape here.
Chongsokjong also known as "Thongchon Kumgang" is listed as a natural monument of the country.
