Press Statement of Spokesman for Foreign Ministry of DPRK

Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK released the following press statement on October 30:

Recently member states of the multilateral sanctions monitoring team, including the U.S. and Australia, and the EU made public a "joint statement," in which they call for slapping exclusive sanctions on the DPRK, talking about "denuclearization" and implementation of the anti-DPRK UNSC "sanctions resolutions."

This is another case that reminds us that the hostile forces' bad habit of denying the constitutional status of our state and outlawing the normal development of inter-state relations still remains as a deep-rooted poison and malignant tumour undermining the soundness of the international relations.

The Foreign Ministry of the DPRK brands as a wanton violation of its sovereignty and vehemently denounces and rejects the U.S. and its vassal forces' ill-intended conspiratorial racket to justify their malicious and depraved hostile policy toward the DPRK under unjust and unreasonable pretexts.

Sanctions and pressure may work on the weak but never on us.

The stereotyped sanctions racket of the U.S. and the West can neither influence the position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state nor slacken our hold on the inexhaustibly great power that scares them and will put them into greater fear in the future.

Time proves that the "sanctions" on the DPRK are doomed to go bankrupt just like the irreversible final conclusion - "denuclearization" of the DPRK is theoretically and practically impossible.

Taking this opportunity, we warn once again the member states of the multilateral sanctions monitoring team, including the ROK and Japan, and the EU, which are active in the U.S.-led anti-DPRK sanctions and pressure racket, against their hostile acts, and make it clear that they will be held accountable for such hostile acts.

We will not prevent the U.S. and the West from plunging themselves into a bottomless pitfall in their desperate pursuance of the sanctions that have already proved futile.

The isolated are not us but the U.S. and the Western camp which have lost judgment and courage to admit their strategic failure despite the lack of their means and ability to prove the effectiveness of their sanctions.

The DPRK remains steadfast in its determination to reliably ensure by dint of its powerful strength the protection of its national sovereignty and interests from the sinister hostile moves of the U.S. and its vassal countries, and strive to build the international relations based on justice and impartiality.

The DPRK will never tolerate the hostile forces' evil attempts to curb and hinder the development of normal and mutually beneficial cooperative relations between sovereign states. It will thoroughly defend its national dignity and right to development by responsibly exercising its sovereignty.
