Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Inspects Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm
Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, gave field guidance at the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm on May 31.
He was accompanied by senior Party and government officials.
The greenhouse farm, built on the bank of the Amnok River in the northwestern part of the country as an outcome of the WPK's noble ideal and long-cherished desire, has a rich vegetable harvest at present. And its hundreds of hectares are covered with rape flowers in full bloom, which add to the scenic beauty of the Wihwa Island.
Comrade Kim Jong Un was greeted by Yang Myong Chol, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and officials of the farm.
Going round hydroponic and soil greenhouses of different styles and experimental cultivation greenhouses, he learned in detail about the production, vegetable science research and management of the farm.
Expressing satisfaction over the report of the farm manager that the greenhouse farm has harvested hundreds of tons of various vegetables in tens of species at over 1 150 greenhouses every day and supplied them to orphanages, baby homes, primary schools for orphans and commercial units on a regular basis to contribute to improving the diet of regional people, he highly appreciated the patriotic devotion of its agricultural workers who are demonstrating the validity and vitality of the Party's policy with their pure conscience and production results.
Saying it is urgent to minimize energy consumption in the production of vegetables and provide effective and appropriate environment for the growth of different varieties of vegetables so as to reduce costs and cultivate vegetables in all seasons, he clarified in detail the scientific and technological issues to this end.
The farm should not place importance on the productivity alone, but increase the variety of vegetables and cultivate them in a sci-tech way to provide the people with nutritious and tasty vegetables, he said, adding that it is necessary to actively organize a socialist emulation among farms.
Stating that it is an important policy issue stressed by the Party for greenhouse farms to raise the proportion of farm work done by machines and automate the carrying means, he taught the ways for its implementation.
Noting that the Sinuiju Vegetable Science Research Center has a very important duty in putting the greenhouse vegetable production on a scientific basis, he stressed that when it properly plays its role as an academic guidance unit and as a scientific research and dissemination base which comprehensively leads the work of breeding, researching, cultivating and disseminating vegetable seeds, it is possible to promote the trend for developing the greenhouse farms, to be built across the country, in a balanced and planned way.
He said that the Agricultural Commission and other relevant units should properly appreciate the research achievements proving effective in practice during review of the greenhouse vegetable production, help share the experience with each other, set forth new research assignments and learn about their implementation on a regular basis and take necessary measures. He also underlined the need to study about mechanism measure for the Sinuiju vegetable science research base in order to quickly apply the research successes to all the greenhouse farms of the country.
He set forth important tasks for the long-term development of greenhouse farms, including the issue of increasing the number of vegetable storage facilities and greengroceries to provide the people in the province with fresh vegetables on a regular basis, the issue of establishing a well-regulated system for rapidly disseminating new advanced technologies to the greenhouse vegetable sector and the issue of establishing a system for training greenhouse experts.
Then he toured rape fields full of fragrant flowers.
He said with pleasure that the rape fields are really spectacular as they presented a peculiar sight of a large, picturesque farm town.
He said that the beautiful appearance of the island area with a sea of greenhouse vegetables and rape flowers is reminiscent of the course of transformation in the area of the Wihwa Island and that this change is a proud epitome of socialist Korea showing the true meaning of dramatic transformation in the new era.
Saying that the Party attached importance to both greenhouse farming and ecological and environmental protection work while building the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, he stressed the need for the farm to properly protect and maintain the river and road and take care of the surrounding environments, including residential quarters, parks, ponds, embankments and street trees, in a scientific, cultured and hygienic and responsible manner.
The farm is just a visual aid and a textbook for practical education which comprehensively reflects the Party's policy, he said, affirming that the Party would make more strenuous efforts for the radical transformation of regions with the development of the Wihwa Island as a starting point and turn all farms and regions of the country into modern socialist villages and ideal land for the people without fail.
That day, Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected an advanced public health establishment, a leisure complex and a combined vegetable processing factory being built in the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm area to carry out the tasks for the third year of implementing the Party's policy on the regional development.
He heard a report about progress in the construction project from the commanding officer of military unit involved in it.
Thanks to the devoted efforts of soldier-builders with the strong will of loyalty to register greater miracles and feats in the 2026 book of combat for realizing the Party's long-cherished desire, the construction project for the regional development policy in this area is now being pushed forward at 50 percent of the total project.
Comrade Kim Jong Un said that he was really pleased to see the modern hospital, multi-functional leisure complex and specialized vegetable processing factory being vigorously built in the significant place, where the inauguration of the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm was declared, to contribute to the promotion of regional people's health and the improvement of their cultural life. The area of the Wihwa Island will be described again as a model and a standard of regional transformation in the new era when the construction of those objects is completed, he added.
He highly appreciated the fact that the specialization of construction units has been further improved and the ranks of skilled persons are being strengthened as required by the Party policy. And he stressed the need to provide more construction equipment and show deep care for the soldier-builders' living and took necessary technical measures.
He stressed that constant efforts should be directed to the political and ideological education of soldier-builders to prepare all of them to be ardent patriots who find genuine pride and worth of life in serving the country and the people, and staunch defenders and reliable implementers of the regional development policy of the WPK.
Noting that the land of the country will be richer and more beautiful along with the ongoing patriotic advance, he expressed expectation and conviction that all the soldier-builders would more courageously write another chapter of uninterrupted innovations and progress in the vanguard of accomplishing the honorable cause.
DPRK NIA Delegation Attends Int'l Security Forum
Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the National Intelligence Agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea took part in the 14th International Meeting of High-Level Security Representatives on the theme of "Challenges and Threats to International Security in the Context of the Emergence of the Multipolar World", the main schedule of the First International Security Forum held in Russia on May 28.
Present there were members of security and diplomatic fields including the Security Council, the External Intelligence Bureau and the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation, and delegations from more than 150 countries and international bodies.
After a congratulatory speech of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to the participants in the international meeting via video, a video program on major recent challenges and threats in the field of international and regional security was screened.
Ri Chang Dae, general director of the National Intelligence Agency of the DPRK who is heading its delegation, made a speech.
Congratulating the successful holding of the First International Security Forum, he appreciated that the forum is of great political significance in defending global peace and security and realizing international justice.
In order to put an end to the global security crisis and instability, all countries should build up their own security capabilities, closely promote solidarity and cooperation in the course of building a multi-polar world and unite on the principles of respect, equality and mutual benefit to oppose specialization and double standards in international politics, he said.
The DPRK is stockpiling and steadily bolstering up its strongest strength, he said, adding that it is aimed at defending its own security and the genuine era of peace without war forever. He extended full support and encouragement to the Russian army and people who are all out in accomplishing the sacred cause of defending the sovereign rights, security and interests of the country.
On the same day, the head of the delegation of the DPRK NIA met and had a talk with Sergei Shoigu, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
The talks discussed the issues of thoroughly defending the core interests of the two countries and effectively coping with the global and regional security challenges through close cooperation between the two countries' security and intelligence institutions.
Unveiling Ceremony of Memorial Tablet Held at Russian Embassy
Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- An unveiling ceremony of the memorial tablet for Aleksandr Matsegora, former Russian ambassador to the DPRK, took place at the Russian embassy here on May 30.
Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, attended the unveiling ceremony.
Also present there were Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui and officials concerned of the DPRK, Charge d'Affaires ad Interim Vladimir Topeha and staff members of the Russian embassy, Russian guests, bereaved family members and members of the diplomatic corps here.
The guard of honor of the Korean People's Army lined up before the memorial tablet.
Speeches were made at the unveiling ceremony.
Vladimir Topeha referred to the distinguished contribution made by Aleksandr Matsegora to the development of the Russia-DPRK friendly relations over the past decades, and said that his whole life is an example of devoted service for the homeland.
Choe Son Hui said that the exploits for the strengthened DPRK-Russia friendship performed by Aleksandr Matsegora, a close friend and genuine comrade-in-arms of the Korean people and a patriot and son of the Russian people who devotedly worked for the national interests of his country, will be remembered forever by the peoples of the two countries.
The son and daughter of Aleksandr Matsegora expressed heartfelt thanks to the friends of Russia and the DPRK for their sincerity devoted to the present unveiling ceremony of the memorial tablet.
The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Aleksandr Matsegora.
When the memorial tablet was unveiled, the national anthems of the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea were played.
Seen in the memorial tablet, with the image of Aleksandr Matsegora and Order of Bravery carved in relief, are letters in Russian reading that Aleksandr Matsegora, a diplomat and a winner of Order of Bravery, served his homeland here.
The participants laid flowers before the memorial tablet.
At the end of the unveiling ceremony, Jo Yong Won met the bereaved family members and warmly consoled them, expressing conviction that they would contribute to the development of the DPRK-Russia relations, true to the intention of their deceased father.
International Children's Day Marked in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- Today is International Children's Day. The children in the DPRK are enjoying the day amid the blessing of all the people.
Seeing the bright and cheerful children on International Children's Day, our people extend deep gratitude to the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un who has constantly shown warm love and benevolence on the rising generations.
It is happiness and glory to make painstaking efforts for the rising generations. This is the fatherly Marshal's noble outlook on posterity.
The dairy products and other nutritive foods our children receive regularly every day are associated with the parental love.
At the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea in June 2021, the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un said that the period of nursery and kindergarten is the most important period for the growth of children. And he ensured that it was adopted as a major policy of the Party to supply at the state expense dairy products and other nutritious foods to the children across the country.
The Sixth Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly held in February 2022 adopted a law on childcare, whereby it was legalized to establish a well-regulated system for the production and supply of nutritious foods for the children and supply dairy products and other nutritious foods to all children free of charge on a regular basis and ensure the best conditions for nursing and upbringing them.
Since the adoption of the law on childcare, a large number of dairy cattle and goat farms have been built or rebuilt and expanded across the country and a dairy production and supply system established in provinces, cities and counties.
This reality, in which all the children are provided with nutritious foods, including dairy products, on a regular basis and well brought up, is a precious outcome of our Party and state's noble outlook on posterity and future.
