Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Elected as General Secretary of WPK

Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- A decision of the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea "On Election of the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea" was adopted on Feb. 22.

The decision is as follows:

Today our revolutionary cause for the comprehensive socialist construction is making a dynamic advance, achieving unprecedented miracles at an extraordinary speed under the experienced and seasoned leadership of the ever-victorious Workers' Party of Korea.

At the Ninth Congress of the WPK held in the annals of the stirring struggle for making great and epochal changes unprecedented in the history of the DPRK's growth and development while braving all challenges and difficulties of history, all the Party members and people are to make an important decision on electing the head of the WPK, the centre of leadership and unity who embodies the organizational will of the whole Party.

To elect the head of the WPK who assumes the heavy responsibility for guiding the state and the people to the victory of the socialist cause is of greatest significance in the work of the Party Congress, the supreme leadership body of the Party, as it is an important affair decisive of the Party's leadership ability and the future destiny of the country and the people.

The attention of millions of Party members and all the people is now focused on this decision.

The current Congress fully supported and approved the polite proposal for re-electing Comrade Kim Jong Un as the top leader of the WPK.

This is the historical appraisal of the past five-year struggle, in which epochal changes had been made with the august name of Comrade Kim Jong Un as the banner of invincibility, and its great fruition and an expression of the responsible and solemn stand reflecting the choice and will of all the people.

At a turning point in which the noble ideology and ideal our Party has adhered to in its protracted and sacred history are being translated into gigantic reality and the new era of building a strong and prosperous state is being ushered in on the path of the Juche revolution, all the Party members and other people of the country and all servicepersons of the armed forces of the Republic are making a pledge of loyalty to invariably hold in high esteem Comrade Kim Jong Un as the centre of unity and leadership, cherishing the immutable truth that the greatness of Kim Jong Un is the guiding power of our Party, the might of our state and the glory of socialism.

Kim Jong Un is the most prominent statesman who has performed great exploits before the country and the revolution and on behalf of the times and history by leading our Party and people only to victory with his rare ideo-theoretical wisdom, distinguished leadership ability and noble popular traits and the only person who can represent the mightiness and invincibility of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, our great state.

Holding fast to great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as the guiding idea of our Party and bringing about a radical turn in the Party building and activities, he has thoroughly maintained the revolutionary character of the WPK as the powerful political staff which established the oneness of ideology and leadership and as an invincible party which has served the people and become a harmonious whole with the popular masses.

He set forth the five-point Party-building line in the new era and has energetically led the struggle for its implementation and thus developed the WPK into a party, politically mature, organizationally strong, ideologically pure, strict in discipline and sound in work style. This is an immortal exploit that provided a decisive guarantee for building up the political force which powerfully guides the Korean revolution and socialist construction to upturn and carrying forward the leadership ability of our Party for all ages.

He clarified a new-stage goal for the comprehensive development of our own style socialist construction and clear programme with obvious possibility and ushered in an era of change and innovations unprecedented in the history of the Republic with his correct and original revolutionary leadership.

He set forth the scientific fighting policy for the stable development of the self-supporting economy, brought about precious successes in implementing the five-year plan and developing the overall economy, laid a solid material foundation for the economic and cultural development and improvement of the people's standard of living through a great upsurge in the construction revolution and opened up an eye-opening reality in which the appearance of the country was radically changed in a short span of time.

It is the historic exploit that can be achieved only by Kim Jong Un that the gigantic revolution started to eliminate the backwardness of regions and rural areas, which had remained as the fetters of development for a long time, and improve the material and cultural environment of the country and the eternal foundation for comprehensive prosperity has been consolidated as its brilliant fruition.

The epochal results have been made in the healthcare revolution for reconstructing the medical field of the country in an advanced way and remarkable achievements made in the fields of science, education, sports, literature and arts one after another. This is the fruition of the outstanding leadership of Kim Jong Un who has pioneered a high stage of development of the state, guiding all fields of socialist construction.

Kim Jong Un has ensured that the people really benefit from the most advantageous socialist policies, firmly defended the life and security of the people in any crisis and taken warm care of them. His noble world of devoted service for the people's wellbeing is attracting all the people and adding luster to our motherland as a genuine people's country.

He has energetically led the work to turn the Korean People's Army, the pivot of national defence and pillar of safeguarding peace, into an elite and powerful army and thus built the revolutionary armed forces capable of coping with any threat of aggression on their own initiative and fully prepared for any form of war.

The leadership of Kim Jong Un who has strengthened our army into the vanguard ranks supporting the ideology and cause of the WPK is the driving force that enabled the WPK to dynamically carry out the epochal great tasks and accelerate the advance of the revolution.

As we hold in high esteem the peerless patriot possessed of the steadfast revolutionary spirit, iron will and unusual pluck and courage as the top leader, the war deterrence of the country with the nuclear forces as its pivot has been radically improved and our state has dynamically advanced in the orbit of prosperity and the future destiny of the country and the people has been reliably guaranteed despite the stern challenges of history.

With his strong revolutionary principle and extraordinary strategy and through his seasoned external activities Kim Jong Un has remarkably raised the dignity and prestige of the DPRK, created an international environment favorable for the Korean revolution and made a great contribution to the common cause of mankind for independence and justice.

He has ushered in a golden age of building the WPK, fully demonstrated the prestige and national power of Juche Korea and brought a new era of comprehensive socialist construction in which the people's ideals and desire are realized. He is the outstanding political activist of the DPRK nobody can take place, and the most ardent patriot, the prominent representative of the Korean nation, the great dignity of our Party, state and people and the symbol of all victories and glory.

It is the solemn requirement of the times and history to hold in high esteem         Kim Jong Un, who has enjoyed boundless trust and respect of all the Korean people for his noble sense of mission for the destiny of the country and people, warm love for them, outstanding political caliber and immortal exploits, as the top leader of the WPK again.

The Ninth Congress of the WPK decides to elect Kim Jong Un as general secretary of the WPK in accordance with the unshakable will and unanimous desire of all the delegates, millions of Party members, all the people and service personnel of the People's Army for the development of the WPK and the prosperity of the state.

Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- The second-day sitting of the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea took place on Feb. 20. The congress will mark a new milestone in the development of the Party and the history of comprehensive socialist construction.

The congress continued its discussion on the first agenda item "Review of the Work of the WPK Central Committee" as it did in its first-day sitting.

After hearing about the implementation of the Party and state policies during the period under review, the congress appreciated that the remarkable successes, experience and lessons, gained in the overall work of the Party and the state in politics, economy, culture, defence, diplomacy and other fields under the leadership of the eighth-term Central Committee of the WPK headed by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, serve as the precious foundations for putting the struggle onto the next-stage development process and as a springboard for making leaps forward in guaranteeing greater changes and successes.

The past five years, which witnessed the strenuous efforts to go through the first-stage course towards the comprehensive development of Korean-style socialist construction, were a period of great transformations and turns of profound significance in building up the Party struggling to realize the independence of the popular masses and developing the revolution.

The Party Central Committee has consistently adhered to the responsible working attitude of finding shortcomings first rather than successes and learning the secret to development from lessons in adopting Party policies and drawing up and carrying out work, and to the principle of attaching absolute importance to the interests of the state and the people. It has also opened up a new chapter, in which the whole country undergoes progress in a simultaneous and balanced way, steering the trend of accelerated changes in all fields of socialist construction.

Amid the struggle for implementing the five-point Party-building line in the new era, the Party's leadership, organizing ability and fighting efficiency have been further strengthened, alongside the creation of appearance and traits for ensuring the eternal continuity of the glorious 80-year-long ruling history of the Party. Furthermore, the five-year plans in all fields, decided by the Eighth WPK Congress, were successfully carried out and creations of prosperity built in all parts of the country to fully demonstrate the daily-growing political and economic potentials of the DPRK, thanks to the great spirit and irresistible might of all the Party members and other people united with patriotism.

Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- The Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea is intensifying the most comprehensive political activities in carrying out its leadership mission as the political staff of the socialist cause.

The third-day sitting of the congress was held on Feb. 21.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un continued his report on the review of the work of the eighth-term Party Central Committee.

The report made an in-depth analysis of the Party Central Committee's work in the period under review, during which it has fulfilled its important mission and role as the vanguard of the revolution, ushering in a new era of unprecedented changes and upsurge in the scope and depth of struggle and speed of development. The whole audience was deeply moved by the report filled with the boundless pride of having ushered in a new heyday of strengthening the whole Party and having pioneered a new irreversible trend of the comprehensive national rejuvenation.

It clarified the new fighting strategy corresponding to the strong spirit of advance of the country and the people and their full confidence and specified the prospective goals for all sectors and the tasks and ways for attaining them.

The congress unanimously recognized that the report on the review of the work of the eighth-term Central Committee of the WPK is a revolutionary guideline for the struggle to make all victories and glories gained during the period under review lead on to more rapid development, faster change and greater progress by adhering to consciousness of innovative and offensive struggle and mode of advance.

Speeches were made by Jang Kyong Guk, chief secretary of the Sinpho City Committee of the WPK who is a delegate of the South Hamgyong provincial Party organization, and Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui, a delegate of the Pyongyang municipal Party organization.

The speakers expressed their strong support and approval for Kim Jong Un's report which comprehensively deals with the mature demand of the Korean revolution in transition to a new stage of development, the scientific line of struggle and strategic and tactical issues.

All the participants are taking an earnest approach to the important discussion, full of firm readiness, confidence and conviction.

Fourth-day Sitting of Ninth WPK Congress

Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- The fourth-day sitting of the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea was held on Feb. 22.

The Congress continued its historic work amid high enthusiasm of the delegates who attentively listened to the report on the review of the work of the Party Central Committee that will powerfully encourage the cause of the DPRK and its struggle to a higher stage.

Speeches were made on the first agenda item "Review of the Work of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee" at the fourth-day sitting of the Congress.

Kim Jong Gwan and Yun Jong Ho, delegates of the Cabinet Party organizations, and Kim Jong Sik, first vice department director of the C.C., WPK who is a delegate of the headquarters Party organization, took the floor.

Written speeches were made by delegates of Party organizations at all levels including Ri Il Hwan, Pak Thae Song, No Kwang Chol, Jon Sung Guk, Mun Chol, Ri Chol Man, Pang Tu Sop, Kim Chol Sam, O Il Jong, Kim Myong Hun, Kim Hyong Sik, Kim Il Guk, Yun Jae Hyok and Ri Song Bom.

Expressing full support to the report on the review of the work of the Party Central Committee, the speakers said that the revolutionary nature of the Party serving the people was fully displayed in the period under review thanks to the outstanding ideology and theory and energetic leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un and remarkable progress and changes were made in all domains, sectors and regions of the country which develop simultaneously in a balanced way.

They analyzed and reviewed the lessons drawn from the work of their sectors and units in the course of the struggle for implementing the decisions of the Eighth Congress of the WPK and expressed their solemn resolve to play the vanguard and core role in the all-people advance toward a new victory of the revolution.

The Congress decided to study a decision on the first agenda item at sectional study and consultative meetings and revise and supplement it in reflection of constructive opinions and then deliberate it at the Political Bureau before it is adopted at Congress.

The Congress discussed the second agenda item, "On the Revision of the Rules of the Workers' Party of Korea".

Jo Yong Won made a report on the revision of the WPK Rules.

A decision "On the Revision of the Rules of the Workers' Party of Korea" was adopted with unanimous approval.

The Congress discussed the third agenda item "Election of the Central Leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea".

The venue of the Congress with discussion of the agenda item of great political significance in glorifying most brilliantly the absolute prestige and leadership ability of the WPK just ahead was filled with high enthusiasm of the delegates to fulfill their historic responsibility before the times and the revolution, the country and its people.

The Congress declared that the eighth-term Party central leadership would successfully complete its term according to the WPK Rules, and held the election of the ninth-term Party central leadership.

The relevant provisions of the "Detailed Regulations for Election of the Central Leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea" were read out before the start of procedures for the election of members and alternate members of the Party Central Committee.

The method of nominating candidates for members and alternate members of the Party Central Committee was discussed and decided and, according to it, candidates were nominated and elected.

Upon authorization of the presidium of the Congress, Ri Hi Yong proposed candidates for members of the Ninth Central Committee of the WPK.

At the moment when Kim Jong Un was proposed as a candidate for a member of the Party Central Committee, all the delegates burst into cheers and gave enthusiastic applause.

All the proposed candidates were nominated as candidates for members of the Party Central Committee with unanimous approval of the delegates.

The delegates unanimously recognized that all the nominated candidates for members of the Party Central Committee are the core elements of the Party who are boundlessly loyal to the Party's revolutionary ideas and fighting programmes and fully ready to powerfully push ahead with the perfect implementation of the Party's policies by playing the vanguard role.

The Congress held elections to nominated candidates for the members of the Party Central Committee.

The person, who presided over the Congress, courteously proposed first to elect Comrade Kim Jong Un as a member of the Party Central Committee, representing the unanimous will and desire of all the Party members and the delegates to the Party Congress.

All the participants expressed full support and approval with stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" and enthusiastic applause.

138 candidates for the members were elected to the members of the Central Committee of the WPK under full approval of the delegates.

The Congress elected alternate members of the Party Central Committee.

111 candidates were elected as alternate members of the Party Central Committee through relevant nominating and election procedures.

The Congress greeted the most important and responsible moment of decisive significance in strengthening the Party and accomplishing the revolutionary cause.

All the participants were greatly exalted by the crucial event of electing the general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, the head representing and leading our great Party.

Ri Il Hwan made a proposal on the election of the general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

We are to adopt the most important and responsible decision in firmly guaranteeing the destiny and future of our great state and people and in attaining all the goals and ideals we want to achieve, the speaker said, adding that if our revolution is to successfully carry out the huge tasks for the new stage of development while steadfastly preserving its lifeline, it is necessary to further strengthen the leadership ability of the Party and this can be successfully realized only when a political activist, who is most loyal to the cause of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and who is possessed of outstanding and seasoned skills, undertakes this responsible duty.

At this moment, the immutable truth of history most strictly proved in the past struggle, the results of the revolution keenly realized by all the people on this land, and the faith deeply cherished during the unusual 1 800-odd days are making the desire and will of all the delegates unanimous ones, he said, stressing that it was the strength of the great ideology and politics, the strength of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un that made it possible to design and create to the full the dream and ideal for prosperity, which had been desired for a long time, even in the middle of this confused planet shaking with wars and tyranny.

The course of the struggle of the eighth-term Party Central Committee with amazing goal and more admirable fruition of success made our people and the world appreciate the personality of Kim Jong Un as the peerlessly great man who certainly brings about successful results while simultaneously designing huge projects and pushing ahead with them in a lightning way without halt in any case, he said.

Now when the historic advance towards greater victory is started true to the new line of struggle and action programme set forth by the Ninth Congress of the Party, only Kim Jong Un can guide the trend of gigantic transformation of our cause put on an orbit of leap forward to a steady upturn without halt, the speaker said, courteously proposing to the Congress to entrust the important post of general secretary, the supreme duty of the WPK, the organizer and guide of all victories for the DPRK people, to the great Comrade Kim Jong Un again for the development of the WPK, brilliant implementation of the gigantic action programme, prosperity of the country and the rosy future of socialism, in reflection of the unanimous desire of all the Party members and people.

All the delegates expressed full support and approval, raising enthusiastic cheers of "Hurrah!" in reflection of their ardent desire to dynamically advance towards the road of Juche, invariably holding in high esteem Kim Jong Un as the top leader of the WPK, and their loyalty.

The Ninth Congress of the WPK adopted with unanimous approval the decision on electing Kim Jong Un as general secretary of the WPK in reflection of the unanimous will and desire of all the delegates, Party members, people and service personnel of the People's Army.

The participants in the Congress extended the highest glory to the General Secretary, vowing to remain faithful to his leadership to the last for the eternal prosperity of the country.

With the boundless pride and excitement of invariably holding in high esteem     Kim Jong Un as the great leader of the dignified WPK, the delegates will study and discuss the plans of each sector to be reflected in the decision of the Congress on the basis of the goals set forth in the report on the review of the work of the Party Central Committee according to the schedule of the Congress.
