Saeppyol Street Inaugurated with Splendor

Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- Saeppyol Street has made an imposing appearance in an excellent location in Hwasong area of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK. It is a monumental architectural group reflecting the strong will of all the people to convey forever the shining star-like feats of the heroes who unhesitatingly sacrificed their lives for the immortal honour and eternal prosperity of their great motherland during the overseas military operations.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un personally initiated the construction of a new street for their bereaved families and named it to glorify the precious life of fine sons of the country generation after generation. He also energetically guided the whole course of its construction so that every element of buildings shows the warm sincerity of our Party and state for the families that the brave fighters left behind.

The unique architectural groups are presenting a spectacular scene as high-, medium- and low-storied apartment buildings with formative artistic, practical and convenient value and public buildings such as commercial and neighbourhood-serving amenities are in ideal harmony. It represents an immortal picture showing the noble moral obligation and fervent love of our Party determined to glorify the bereaved families as well as the heroes respected and revered by all the people and enable them to enjoy to the full the beautiful life in the motherland the martyrs protected at the cost of their lives.

An inauguration ceremony of Saeppyol Street took place with splendor on Feb. 15.

Its venue was overflowing with emotion and joy of the bereaved families who would move into new flats amid the blessing of military and civilian builders, who constructed a unique new street true to the intention and will of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, and all other people across the country.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un attended the ceremony.

He was greeted by the commanding officers of Korean People's Army units involved in the overseas operations.

He met and exchanged warm greetings with them and extended militant salute to all the officers and men of the overseas operations units.

All the participants broke into cheers of emotion, looking up to the great father who has put the war heroes and their bereaved families on the meridian of glory and made a great history of noble love and obligation with ardent feelings of kinship.

The ceremony was attended by senior Party, government and military officials, members of the central leadership body of the Party, bereaved families of the war heroes, combatants and officers and men of the engineering unit who were dispatched for the overseas military operations, commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence, servicepersons of KPA units at all levels, builders, teaching staff and students of revolutionary schools and citizens in Pyongyang.

Saying with deep emotion that the meaningful day has come when Saeppyol Street has been completed thanks to the ardent desire of our motherland to have its address in our capital city, he noted that the inauguration of the street named Saeppyol that has already been etched in all our hearts as a byword for the glorious life of the combatants is an emotive moment when we record in the history of Pyongyang the most heroic era that embodies the strength of Korea, symbolizes the greatness of its people and has defended its sacred dignity and fame.

Noting that Saeppyol Street is a source of honour for our generation and a pride of Pyongyang and our state, he prayed for the immortality of the martyrs along with its inauguration which will etch the martyrs' names and images in history. He sincerely hoped that this street, a place where the ennobling souls rest and reverence from all over the country converges, will always brim over with joy and happiness.

Fireworks were displayed with enthusiastic cheers and numerous balloons with five-pointed star marks rose up to the sky.

Then the licenses for the use of flats were handed over to the bereaved families of the martyrs.

Kim Jong Un, together with senior Party, government and military officials, gave the licenses in the name of the WPK Central Committee to the bereaved families.

The bereaved families in tears of emotion extended their deep gratitude to the benevolent father who has repeatedly shown his boundless love and affection for them, filled with pain and remorse for failing to bring to their families the proud sons of the motherland who created the world-startling miraculous and heroic legends.

An art performance was given, shaking Saeppyal Street where the huge national flag of the dignified DPRK is flying high in the sky.

Touching the participants were the songs arousing boundless respect and noble reverence for the martyrs, who displayed mass heroism and unparalleled self-sacrificing spirit, hard to be seen in any other armies of the world, to demonstrate the combat power of our army to the whole world and unhesitatingly dedicated their lives to faithfully implementing the orders of the motherland.

When the national anthem of the DPRK, our heroes sang from the bottom of their heart in every field of decisive battles, wishing for its eternal prosperity, was played, the participants were all afire with a will to display their patriotic enthusiasm for further glorifying the dignity and honour of the motherland the martyrs defended at the cost of their lives.

A touching scene of great love and moral obligation was witnessed in Saeppyol Street, in which each flat is associated with the boundless benevolence of Kim Jong Un who has bestowed his warm affection and love for the war heroes on their families, ensuring that they enjoy the greatest happiness and glory.

Kim Jong Un met bereaved family members who would move into new houses.

Noting that the inauguration of a street for the families of the fallen fighters in the overseas military operations reminds him of the heroic images of combatants who laid down their lives, praying for prosperity of their country and Pyongyang at their last moments, he said in an excited tone that it is the highest respect to the noble lives of the martyrs to make the country, associated with their desires and souls, richer and more beautiful and safeguard and glorify it.

Saying that the fallen fighters are model patriots and greatest heroes who unhesitatingly dedicated their precious lives to carrying out the order of the motherland for no reward, he stressed it is due obligation and noble mission of our Party and government to take care of the destiny and life of their parents, who brought them up to be excellent, and their wives and children, who were their strength and support, in the most responsible and sincerest manner.

He visited the house of Kim Jong Ok, widow of martyr O Thae Chol, and looked round its rooms and kitchen, listening to his family members' impression of the new house.

Saying she would miss her husband more than ever before in the new house, he hoped that she would overcome her sorrow as early as possible and lead a happy life. And he wished her son studying at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School a bright future, saying that he should become an excellent person like his father.

Visiting the house of the couple Mun Ryong Mo and Ryu Sung Nam, whose twin sons dedicated their lives to the country, he said that thanks to such a patriotic family, the country grows stronger and steadily advances toward prosperity.

Saying that the Party and the government will entirely take care of the bereaved, he showed warm kinship affection, wishing them lasting happiness in their good houses.

He also visited the home of martyr Kim Tong Chun, twice Hero of the Republic, to wish his family members the best luck. The family members, greatly excited to have dream-like fortune, expressed their deep gratitude to him.

I think my anxieties have been removed a little, seeing the bereaved families who will lead a new beautiful life earlier than others in their houses in Pyongyang, he said, adding that the heroes, who performed the great exploits, to be etched in history, for the endless prosperity and mightiness of the country, and their families deserve the greatest glory and respect paid by the country and the people.

He repeatedly urged officials of the Party and power organs to thoroughly implement the measure taken to afford preference and privileges to the families of the martyrs, regarding it as an important policy task, and to always pay deep attention to their life so that they would never feel any inconvenience.

A historic moment, filled with parental affection of the great father, was captured in the street.

The families of the war martyrs, owners of a new street, looked round their new houses.

Seeing their houses furnished with all amenities, they keenly realized the great benevolence and love of Kim Jong Un and our Party.

Saeppyol Street, the crystal of eternal thanks and respect paid by the Party and the people to the heroes in the overseas military operations, will shed its rays for all ages along with its noble name, conveying a new legendary tale of love and moral obligation blooming in the great era of Kim Jong Un to posterity.

 

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un's Speech at Inauguration Ceremony of Saeppyol Street

Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made a speech at the inauguration ceremony of Saeppyol Street on Sunday.

The full text of his speech is as follows:

Present here today are the bereaved family members of the fallen soldiers and other combatants as well as the combatants of the regiment of the engineers, who have been dispatched to the overseas military operations.

We are also here together with the commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence, officers and soldiers of the units at all levels of the Korean People's Army, teaching staff and students of the revolutionary schools, and builders and Pyongyang citizens, who have been involved in the construction of Saeppyol Street.

Comrades,

The meaningful day has come when this street, to which the people across the country paid intense devotion and respect, has been completed to have its address in our capital city.

The new street has been built thanks to the ardent desire of our motherland that wishes that the precious lives of its excellent sons, who defended the most sacred things by sacrificing their most valuable things, will live forever. It is waiting for the moment when it will greet its honoured owners.

Thinking that my anxiousness would somewhat decrease if I brought this event even a day earlier, I have done my best and waited for this day to come. But now standing here, I rather feel sorry before feeling happy.

I once again extend the most ennobling respect to our proud martyrs, and, on behalf of the officers and soldiers of our army, Pyongyang citizens and all other people throughout the country, I offer consolation and thanks to all the bereaved family members of the fallen soldiers, the owners of this new street.

I also express deep thanks to the builders of the capital city, service personnel and officials and working people in the relevant sectors, who have wonderfully completed the street out of boundless respect for, and obligation to, our heroes.

Filled here is a solemn emotion that is quite different from what we felt whenever we saw the creations set up in various parts of the country.

The name Saeppyol Street has already been etched in all our hearts as a byword for the lives of the combatants, who sacrificed their all to their motherland so courageously to the last moments of their lives in the battlefields in a faraway alien land; this is something that others cannot perform throughout their life.

This is an emotive moment, when we record in the history of Pyongyang the most heroic era that embodies the strength of Korea, symbolizes the greatness of its people and has defended its sacred dignity and fame.

Saeppyol Street is a source of honour for our generation and a pride of Pyongyang and our state.

Dear bereaved family members of the martyrs,

With the construction of this street, the martyrs are now within hailing distance from the yards of their beloved families' houses, and they can feel the warmth of their kith and kin, whom they missed so much in the faraway alien land.

This is where the martyrs could feel the breathing of their dear family members every moment of the day; I would be most pleased if you live happily here generation after generation, priding yourself on having such excellent sons, husbands and fathers.

The comrades-in-arms who fought bloody battles with the martyrs, the families that have placed their dear children and husbands at the posts of national defence and all other people in this country will feel happy about today's inauguration; I believe that they sincerely hope the residents in the new street will lead a long and happy life here for the sake of the young martyrs.

Before their death, the heroic martyrs must have pictured in their mind's eye their dear families living in the ever-prospering country; the Party and the government will take all necessary steps to ensure that these families lead a proud and worthwhile life while enjoying the preferential treatment by the state and the loving care of the whole society.

I hope that this street, a place where the ennobling souls rest and reverence from all over the country converges, will always brim over with joy and happiness.

I am sure that this is the way to repay those who passed away.

We have the national flag of our dignified Democratic People's Republic of Korea hoisted on this street.

This is the flag which our combatants kept in their chests during bloody battles, and this is the one with which we covered the bodies of our admirable sons to bring them back to their motherland.

As the flag is shining its brilliance and fluttering in the wind, the martyrs' ennobling soul and pulsating hearts will give impetus to the development of our capital city, beautiful and thriving Pyongyang, and add eternal honour to our great motherland.

The moment when we are cutting the ribbon for the inauguration of the new street will be recorded as a moment of everlasting glory to etch the martyrs' names and images in history.

I pray for the immortality of our country's admirable sons.

 

Editorials on Birth Anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il

Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- Leading newspapers of the DPRK Monday dedicate editorials to the 84th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The papers say that the lifeline of the Juche revolution and the ever-victorious tradition of the DPRK could be steadily carried forward and a new era of comprehensive national rejuvenation opened up in the country thanks to the day of February 16, 1942.

Rodong Sinmun in an editorial says that Chairman Kim Jong Il is a peerless patriot who had the highest level of personalities and qualifications of a leader of the revolution and performed great feats to be glorified forever for the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people.

It goes on:

Chairman Kim Jong Il is a great master in ideology and theory as he illuminated the road ahead of Korean-style socialism with his rare ideological and theoretical wisdom.

As the peerlessly great man clearly indicated the road of advance with his great idea consistent with the times, originality, philosophical profundity and encyclopedic and popular characters, the DPRK people could advance unyieldingly toward a new horizon of a prosperous power without an inch of deviation from the invariable road of socialism.

Kim Jong Il is an outstanding statesman who built a country of single-minded unity modeled on the monolithic idea for the first time in history.

Under the banner of "monolithic ideological system" put forward by Kim Jong Il, the revolutionary discipline and order in which only the idea and leadership of the leader are upheld were established in all spheres of the state and social life and a new image of the DPRK where all the people were united with one will and took the same steps was created.

Kim Jong Il is a peerless patriot who laid a solid foundation for Korean-style socialism to prosper by dint of self-reliance.

The strongest self-defence capability of our state which no one dares to provoke and the increasing potential of the self-supporting economy are associated with the great exploits performed by the Chairman all his life.

Minju Joson in an editorial says that only victory and glory are in store for the DPRK and its people advancing with the ideas and exploits of Kim Jong Il as an eternal foundation.
