KCNA Commentary on NATO's Frantic War Preparations

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The world community is watching keenly NATO's frantic war preparations.

Shortly ago, NATO approved the reorganization of the military fuel transport system dating back to the Cold War period.

According to the so-called NATO Fuel Supply Chain Capability Programme Plan, the existing NATO fuel supply chain in western Europe, which has a total length of about 10 000 km, will be connected to its new member states in eastern and northern Europe. And huge projects, ranging from the construction and modernization of new fuel pipelines to the construction of energy storage facilities, will reportedly be launched.

Originally, there were disagreements among the member states because of huge cost, but they were finally settled. This shows that NATO is clinging to the provision of strategic reserves for war while regarding it as a vital matter.

Moreover, an assertion that NATO will get stronger with the establishment of fuel pipelines is being made among NATO member states. This is a clear proof that NATO is developing into a more aggressive military bloc.

What merits attention is that foreign news are commenting that NATO worked out such an ambitious plan to cope with a potential war with Russia. But the issue is more serious.

In recent years, NATO, which has talked about the inseparability of the security in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, is more frequently introducing strategic assets of its member states into the Asia-Pacific region, demonstrating its military existence, and frequently staging adventurous muscle flexing in the vicinity of the Korean peninsula in collusion with the countries hostile towards the DPRK.

NATO member states including Germany and Italy, the defeated nations in Europe in the past, actively participated in RIMPAC, the largest-ever joint naval drill in the world, which was conducted in the large area of sea around Hawaii and the Pacific Ocean. This clearly proves that NATO always regards the Asia-Pacific region as the theatre of war.

The grave reality, in which NATO is pushing ahead with the provision of strategic reserves as well as massive arms buildup, hints at many things.

In a word, it is the evil intention of NATO to stockpile enough fuel and other war supplies and thus kindle the flames of war any time in any part of the world.

Several decades have passed since NATO was founded as a military bloc but it is unprecedented that it prepares for war so openly as now.

The grave nature of NATO as a war bloc is becoming more obvious.

The fair international community aspiring after justice and peace will never tolerate the dangerous and challenging act of NATO dashing toward war but make a resolute counterattack to them.

NATO's hastened efforts for igniting a war will bring earlier its ruin.

KCNA Commentary on U.S. Moves to Transform USFJ into "Warfighting" Force

Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is adding a new element of strategic instability to the Korean peninsula and the Asia-Pacific region, bringing dark clouds of war.

The commander of the U.S. Forces in Japan in an interview with a Japanese newspaper on July 26 bragged that over 200 personnel had been added to the USFJ headquarters to give it more authority, it enabled the USFJ to make a rapid response, once impossible, and the USFJ has the number of personnel that can sustain 24/7 operations across all combat functions.

He also noted that he will make sure the USFJ is as ready as possible with Japan, anticipating that not an "if", but "when" a crisis will manifest in the Asia-Pacific region.

This is part of the plan to transform the USFJ, which had been mainly responsible for the administrative missions including the administration of the Japan-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement in the past, into a unified military command with substantial operational command authority. And it proves that the USFJ is transforming itself into a real "warfighting" force to command the U.S. forces and all the armed forces of vassal states in the region.

It is known to the public that the U.S. has been pushing ahead with the reorganization of the U.S. forces in Japan since last year to set up a unified military command and give it some of operational command authority of the U.S. Pacific Command in Hawaii.

The main key of the three-stage reorganization of the U.S. Forces in Japan is to make it possible for the U.S. and Japan to carry out a joint operation in emergency by unifying the commanding systems of Japan's "integrated operation command", which was formed in March last year to control the Japan ground, maritime and air "self-defense forces", and the U.S. Forces in Japan.

Through its moves, the U.S. aims to further strengthen its overseas aggression forces into the field forces possessed of independent wartime operational capability. But, most importantly, it seeks a sinister intention to use the Japan "Self-Defense Forces" as a shock brigade and main combat force for an all-out war in the Asia-Pacific region in case of emergency.

The U.S. already announced that Japan will stand at the forefront of all contingencies that the U.S. may face in the western Pacific region, when it started to reorganize the U.S. Forces in Japan last year.

Opposition parties and the public across Japan are getting vocal expressing concern that SDF would come under the control of the U.S. forces.

Given that the core reinforcements to be dispatched to the ROK first would be the U.S. Forces in Japan in contingency on the Korean peninsula, it is undeniable that the first target of this "war command" is just the DPRK.

As the enemies have admitted, the physical conflict on the Korean peninsula is a matter of time when it would break out, rather than a matter of possibility whether or not it would occur.

Shortly ago, the U.S. conducted the largest-ever "Combined Joint Sustainment Training" together with the ROK puppet military gangsters to enhance the capabilities for protracted war in the operational theater of the Korean peninsula. And it held a U.S.-Japan-ROK Trilateral Chiefs of Defense meeting, in which it again called for strengthening "tripartite security cooperation" including the holding of "Freedom Edge", the multi-domain joint military exercises.

Such adventurous military maneuvers of the U.S. working hard to secure large-scale offensive forces and long-term high-intensity operational capabilities while fully betraying its unshakable hostile intention to stand in confrontation with the DPRK are pushing the latter again to the irreversible final conclusion that it should further strive for ceaseless development and evolution of its nuclear war deterrent for self-defence.

The command of the U.S. forces in the Far East, which had been stationed in Japan to have charge of the Korean War, came to a tragic end, earning such brand as "defeated command".

The transformation of the headquarters of the U.S. Forces in Japan into a "war command" is a short cut to its emergence as disgraceful ”defeated command”.
