8th National Conference of War Veterans Held
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The 8th National Conference of War Veterans took place here on July 26 amid the noble respect and congratulations of all the people across the country to the veterans.
Attending it were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. Also present were senior party and government officials, leading officials of the armed forces organs, participants in the Fatherland Liberation War, lecturers in the field of revolutionary history of war victory, students of revolutionary schools, service personnel of the DPRK armed forces, working people, youth and students.
When the war veterans entered the venue, successors to the great war victory greeted them with applause.
Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for Organizational Affairs of the WPK Central Committee, read out a congratulatory message from the WPK Central Committee to the war veterans throughout the country greeting the great war victory day.
In the congratulatory message the WPK Central Committee offered warm congratulations to the war veterans throughout the country who honorably defended the sovereignty and dignity of the Republic by displaying matchless bravery in the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War under the outstanding leadership of President Kim Il Sung and pioneered the heroic fighting spirit and traditions of victory to be glorified generation after generation.
Saying that the great war victory etched in history the philosophy that the power of the single-hearted unity, in which the leader believes in the people and the people follow the leader, is more powerful than anything else, and proved through a legendary heroic myth that a rifle, fully charged with idea, is stronger than any other modern weaponry, and developed the spirit of self-sustenance and self-development pioneered in the anti-Japanese armed struggle into the all-people ideology and will, the congratulatory message referred to its historical significance.
The defenders of the country in the 1950s, the resolute and faithful fighters who went through thick and thin in hearty response to the Party's call, the core of the Workers' Party of Korea whose strong faith were verified in the stern tempest of history and typical genuine patriots who dedicated themselves to the sake of the country, will always be remembered as the excellent mentors in the van of our revolutionary ranks in the future, too, the message stressed.
Wishing all the war veterans across the country good health, longevity and happiness of their families and expressing belief that all the people and service personnel of the People's Army would boldly overcome difficulties and usher in a period of the greatest-ever upswing in socialist construction by cherishing the revolutionary spirit of the great defenders of the country as a treasured sword for victory, the Central Committee of the WPK extended glory to the heroic generation of war victors who defended our great country, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Sin Jon Min, a participant in the Fatherland Liberation War, expressed in his speech his profound gratitude to the Party Central Committee for calling war veterans to the grand and meaningful conference again and bestowing highest glory and happiness upon them.
Saying that war veterans have nothing to wish for as they came to be convinced that the baton of revolution was successfully handed down to the robust and reliable descendents to uphold the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, he earnestly requested the younger generations to firmly defend the country and benevolent social system, which theforerunners have protected throughout their lives, true to his leadership.
Then speeches were made.
The speakers warmly congratulated the war veterans, the proud heroes of the nation and true patriots who defended the country at the cost of their lives.
They said that the noble spirit and heroic life of the generation of war victors are, indeed, the textbook of the worthy life and examples of genuine patriots.
They expressed their will to strikingly demonstrate the spirit and mettle of the descendents of the heroic generation in the on-going general advance for fully displaying the might of
Kim Jong Un's Korea, holding aloft the baton of victory handed down by the generation of war victors.
Seventy years have passed since our people and the heroic Korean People’s Army (KPA), under the outstanding leadership of great Comrade Kim Il Sung, defeated the U.S. imperialists who boasted of being “the strongest” in the world and of numerical and technological advantages over us in the Fatherland Liberation War.
On June 25, 1950, the U.S. ignited the war in an attempt to stifle our two-year-old Republic in its infancy, and to turn it into an outpost of world domination.
The U.S. imperialists deployed aggressive forces on a large scale on the Korean front - one third of its land forces, one fifth of its air forces, most of its Pacific fleet, and troops from its fifteen satellite countries, including south Korean puppet army and the Japanese militarists.
However, in the Korean War that drew world’s attention, the U.S. myth of the “mightiness” in the world was shattered into pieces, and stunning military miracles were created one after another, going beyond the expectations of the world people.
Under the outstanding leadership of Comrade Kim Il Sung, the gifted military strategist and ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander, our KPA soldiers mounted a prompt counterattack, thus liberated Soul – the enemy’s stronghold – within 3 days from the onset of the war.
The heroic KPA brought bitter defeat to the invaders by applying Juche-oriented war tactics created by President Kim Il Sung, i.e. sustained striking action, encirclement and annihilation, night warfare, surprise attack, and movements of aircraft-hunting and tank-hunting groups.
People in the rear as well, with the feeling of fighting together with the soldiers on the frontline, contributed to the victory by producing weapons and ammunition, by increasing grain production and by ensuring wartime transport even in the face of heavy bombardment.
Equipped with the theory of ideology-first that even a rifle can defeat an A-bomb when loaded with ideology, the might of single-hearted unity, and matchless courage and guts, our army and people brought the arrogant invaders down to the ground in the 3-year-long war and had the U.S. submit the surrender document – a document without precedent in American history, thus achieving the great victory of July 27.
Having suffered the defeat in the Korean War, the defeated generals of the U.S. confessed: Never before had the prestige of the country been utterly lost since its foundation; to be honest, the Korea War was a huge military disaster and a war in a wrong place, at a wrong time, with the wrong opponent; I tasted defeat... a war without victory – this was a term that had never existed in American history.
Unique military idea, Juche-oriented art of war, and adroit tactics and strategies put forth by great Comrade Kim Il Sung were decisive factors in inflicting a heavy defeat on the enemy who was boasting of numerical and technological superiority.
The miracle of July 27 was an unprecedentedly great victory of history won by the newly-found Korea in the anti-imperialist and anti-U.S. confrontation under the wise leadership of great Comrade Kim Il Sung.
Today our army is demonstrating its mettle to the whole world as an invincible, powerful army equipped with ever-victorious Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il strategy and tactics, bold attacking method and perfect practical capabilities. They are now firmly safeguarding peace and security on the Korean peninsula and of the world.
The military force of our Republic will carry on the legend of victory of war in 1950s as it holds respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the peerless great man and the illustrious commander, in high esteem as the supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK.
July 27 - Ever Victorious with Great Leader
July 27, sixty-nine years ago, was the day of a great victory when our glorious fatherland, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea defeated the U.S.-led allied forces of imperialism in the three-year-long Fatherland Liberation War, marking the beginning of the U.S. decline.
The Korean war was a war which could be likened to confrontation between rifle and A-bomb and a war in which the power of the two sides couldn’t literally be compared. Then what is the secret of our people and army who shattered the American myth of “mightiness" and firmly defended the freedom and independence of the country and the precious gains of the revolution?
A Western military commentator commented on this as follows: It was a fatal mistake of the merchants of Wall Street to belittle north Koreans in the first place. Were they the weak? No, they were not. As the course of the war had shown, they were the strong who fought on the basis of unique strategies and ever-changing tactics despite their inferior military equipment. The U.S. generals should, though belatedly, have paid due attention to the point that General Kim Il Sung, commander of the opponent army, was an adept at guerilla warfare with rich experience.
A foreign military expert also expressed his opinion as follows: The operation plans of the U.S. were formulated as a result of a series of brainstorming sessions of the chiefs of staff and tens of generals from the Western countries who stood on the U.S. side. But General Kim Il Sung foiled them all alone. He is indeed the one and only gifted military strategist and brilliant commander in the world.
The victory in the Fatherland Liberation War is the victory of the outstanding military ideas, Juche-oriented art of warfare and extraordinary strategy and tactics of President Kim Il Sung as well as the victory achieved by the burning patriotism and indomitable fighting spirit of our soldiers and people who sacrificed themselves for fatherland in response to the call of the president.
As we hold in high esteem the great leader, our nation developed from miserable weak state in the past into a dignified power which can smash any formidable enemy at one stroke. Our people and army equipped with miraculous strategy and tactics, and the incomparable courage and determination endowed by the great brilliant commander created numerous military miracles unprecedented in the war history of the world, thus demonstrating to the whole world the mettle of heroic Korea.
Therefore, Taft, the bellicose general of the U.S. once said:
The U.S. defeat in Korea is quite obvious. There is no army in the world that is strong enough to defeat the Korean People’s Army.
And an American newspaper also reported that the U.S. soldiers and officers perceived the truth that the upper hand of the armaments alone could never guarantee the victory.
The severe three-year-long war clearly proved once again that the decisive guarantee of all victories is the brilliant leadership of a great leader. Nearly seventy-years have elapsed since the day of the victory, but heroic Korea is still shedding its light of the victorious tradition through generations and centuries.
Upholding in high esteem General Kim Jong Un, another brilliant commander born of heaven, our state put an end to the nuclear threat of the U.S., a self-proclaimed world superpower. And we are now staunchly safeguarding the sovereignty of the country, as well as peace and security on the Korean peninsula in the region and rest of the world with powerful self-defense capability.
As we hold in high esteem the great leader, July 27 is the day of eternal victory for our fatherland which is ever-victorious through generations.
Great Love Bestowed on War Orphans
As the day of victory draws nearer, all the people across the country are recalling with deep emotion the great benevolence of President Kim Il Sung who embraced our children in his bosom even amid the gunfire of the devastating war.
All wars, big or small, have produced numerous war orphans and this has remained as a serious social difficulty which can never be solved.
On this land too, orphans were produced in great numbers during the Fatherland Liberation War owing to the barbarous atrocities committed by the U.S. imperialists.
President Kim Il Sung had already written the history of great love for future, embracing children in his bosom even in the period of anti-Japanese war. For the sake of our children who were orphaned during the period of the decisive war for defending the destiny of the country, he unfolded an emotional picture of noble and ardent love for posterity and human beings unprecedented in the world history of wars.
He saw to it that a Cabinet decision was adopted on the establishment of schools for bereaved children across the country in January, 1951. He also ensured that the state takes care and brings up war orphans by building nurseries, orphans’ primary schools and technical schools.
Though he was very busy, bearing all of the heavy burdens of war, he personally brought a child who had lost parents to the supreme headquarters and took care of that child. He also took benevolent steps to make sure that the officials of the state and the women’s union bore the responsibility of bringing up the war orphans.
It was his will to bring them up to be true sons and daughters of the motherland who will shoulder the future of the country.
His paternal love for war orphans continued even in the postwar period.
Parental love is meant as love for one’s own child. But all the children on this land, though they had lost their parents in the turmoil of war, found their warm family and true parents’ love in the passionate and meticulous love of their great father who took care of every child in the country, holding them in his embrace.
Foreign friends who visited our country during the wartime unanimously expressed their admiration, saying that they couldn’t find any children who had lost parents and helplessly wandering around place in any city, town or front village they visited, though factories, schools and houses were found destroyed.
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, true to the lofty idea of President Kim Il Sung - the love for posterity, set the work for the coming generations as the supreme task of the Party and the state saying that our children are the whole of hope and future and the priceless treasure who cannot be compared to gold, silver and jewels.
Thanks to his paternal love, innumerable homes of happiness and wonderful sites of learning for our children have been built all across the country and special measures for the coming generations have been taken one after another at the important meetings where the Party and the state policies are discussed. Thus, our children are enjoying happiness singing the song of “We are the happiest in the world” at the top of their voices.
As our children are growing up in the embrace of the great father into reliable pillars who will prop up the future of the socialist power, the prospect of our country is ever bright and prosperous.
