KCNA Commentary on Middle East Situation
Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- The situation in the Middle East is getting worse to approach the threshold of a total war.
In Israel, an order was issued to prepare for all-round invasion and air raids on the Gaza Strip are expanding.
The Israeli military warmongers are openly crying out that "they would soon see the Palestine territory."
It is the unanimous voice of the international community that the Middle East situation, which poses the danger of an all-out war, is a tragedy entirely caused by the U.S.
At the outbreak of the situation, the U.S. immediately committed itself to supporting Israel with aid and weapons and dispatched aircraft carriers Gerald R. Ford and Dwight D. Eisenhower to the dispute waters.
The U.S. political and military bosses including the secretary of State, the secretary of Defense and even the U.S. president flew to Israel to encourage the war, saying that "as long as the U.S. exists, Israel is not alone" and "security support will continue."
On Oct. 18, the U.S. vetoed a UNSC resolution aimed at ensuring ceasefire and defusing humanitarian crisis and thus obliterated even the slight opportunity of preventing the deterioration of the Middle East situation.
This time, too, the EU, a devoted observer without any independent thinking and principle, is joining the U.S.
The large-scale massacre in the Middle East is escalating due to the prejudiced and intentional instigation of the U.S.
On Oct. 19, Biden claimed it was very important for the U.S. national security that Israel and Ukraine succeed in the wars, and requested Congress to spend $106 billion in urgent expenditure, including support for local servants.
The U.S. has persistently patronized Israel, which illegally occupied Palestinian territory and is getting engrossed in ceaseless armed attacks, inhuman killing of civilians and expansion of the Jewish settlements, for its domestic politics and strategy for world supremacy. This has resulted in the failure to realize the Palestinian people's desire to build an independent state and the sustained historical inequity they are facing.
The U.S. is blaming the Middle East crisis onto Palestine while branding it an "aggressor", but the fair international community is categorically rejecting this.
Foreign ministers of the Arab League member states held an emergency meeting in Cairo on Oct. 11, at which they strongly urged Israel to return to the negotiations for the "two-state plan" to provide a state where the Palestinian people can live, contending that peace in the Middle East would be impossible without an independent Palestinian state.
World public warns that the stability and security on the earth are being threatened due to the arbitrary and double-standard foreign policy of the U.S.
The international community should closely watch the U.S. moves and resolutely denounce and reject the dangerous and foolish attempt.
Press Statement of Director General for Int'l Organizations of DPRK Foreign Ministry
Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- Jo Chol Su, director general of the Department of International Organizations of the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made public the following press statement on Monday:
There took a vote at the UN Security Council's open meeting on October 18 on the resolution with the permission of the humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip of Palestine as its core.
The absolute majority of the member states supported the resolution, however, the U.S. alone exercised veto for the mere reason that the "right to self-defense" of Israel was not mentioned, thus making the resolution fall to be rejected.
The "determination" of the U.S. at a time when the international community is grieving over the worst humanitarian disaster since the Second World War, by which more than 500 civilians were killed due to Israel's brutal bombing of a hospital in Gaza Strip, is an insult to the innocent souls of Palestine.
This clearly proves that the U.S. is, indeed, an accomplice in massacre, chieftain of human rights abuses and enemy of peace in the Middle East as it wantonly violates the international humanitarian law and the international human rights law and connives at and fosters the crimes against humanity.
What merits a more serious attention is the shameless double-dealing standards of the U.S. towards the "right to self-defense".
As everybody knows, the U.S. has questioned about the DPRK' every legitimate exercise of the right to self-defence to cope with the hostile forces' large-scale war moves for aggression on the Korean peninsula as a "threat to international peace and security".
The U.S. is zealously patronizing the atrocities of its "ally" as the "right to self-defense" though the latter is unhesitatingly committing massacres of civilians and bringing humanitarian catastrophe to the Middle East.
It is the height of extreme double-dealing standards and shamelessness which is unacceptable to anyone to denounce the exercise of the right to self-defence which did not cause any slightest damage to the security of neighboring countries as a "threat" but to justify with the "right to self-defense" Israel's act which left thousands of civilians killed and caused a humanitarian crisis.
It is none other than the U.S. to distinguish justice and injustice according to such rules that the performer of act is a pro-U.S. or an anti-U.S. state and to regard the UN as the only tool for realizing its political purpose. Such fact showed once again that the U.S. is the worst criminal state which destroys fair international order.
The U.S. should explain the reason for its exercise of the veto right before the 193 UN member states within a few days in accordance with the resolution of the UN General Assembly adopted in April last year.
In fact, this system explaining the reason for the exercise of the veto was invented by the U.S. in a bid to drive the permanent member states which are opposed to its high-handed and arbitrary practices into a tight corner at the UNSC.
The U.S., who had uttered yells of delight while putting its rivals on the "dock" and exerting collective pressure upon them, has been caught in trap it has set.
The international community should raise the voices of denunciation against the U.S. which is disturbing the regional and global peace and security and conniving at and fostering massacre of civilians and humanitarian large disasters with high-handed and arbitrary practices and double-dealing standards.
DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesman on Israel's Strike at Palestinian Hospital
Pyongyang, October 26 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA on Thursday over Israel's recent strike at a hospital in Palestine that killed many people, a great tragedy:
Israel bombed a public health establishment which is to be protected on a top priority in peacetime or wartime under international law. This is an unimaginable hideous war crime and unethical crime.
What should not be overlooked is that Israel's such criminal act was openly committed under the undisguised patronage of the U.S.
The U.S. delivered huge amounts of munitions to Israel and dispatched two carrier strike groups to the waters off the Middle East, thus giving Israel a green light to massacre Palestinians without any worries.
Immediately after the bombing of the hospital by Israel, the U.S. covered such crime, making absurd sophism that the incident seemed to be committed by other forces rather than Israel. This shows that the U.S. is an accomplice who connived at and fostered Israel's genocide.
The U.S. arrogantly vetoed a UNSC resolution on allowing humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip, for the mere reason that the "right to self-defence" of Israel was not mentioned. This reveals the U.S. intention that it is enough if Israel faithfully carries out its Middle East policy, whether thousands of Palestinians die or not.
The U.S., wrecker of global peace and strangler of justice, can never evade the blame for having connived at and fostered Israel's hideous war crime that ruthlessly killed Palestinians.
Palace of Happiness Built by Ardent Love for Posterity
There are Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home among the palaces of love built on this land under the benevolent care of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who shows great love and affection for children, regarding the work for future generation as a matter of national importance.
Our people look back with deep emotion upon the painstaking efforts devoted by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to provide good living conditions for children without parents, who could not help expressing satisfaction with the completed Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home on October 25, 2014.
Ever since he embarked on his revolutionary leadership, he has paid deep attention to provision of the children’s living conditions. In February 2014, he personally initiated the construction of Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home on the picturesque bank of Taedong River.
Although there were many major construction projects of national importance, he gave a top priority to the construction of the baby home and children’s home, gave detailed guidance on the blueprint for the buildings and visited the construction site several times. Thanks to his meticulous guidance, Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home were wonderfully completed in a short period of less than six months.
When he visited Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home again before its completion, he looked around every corner of the buildings including bedrooms, wading pools, physical exercise rooms and dining rooms paying scrupulous attention to see if there were any inconveniences to the children.
He said that it is important to build baby homes and children’s homes, but what is more important is to bring up children without parents to be good persons, and our Party is firmly determined to bring them up into pillars of the country. And he earnestly said that nursery school and kindergarten teachers should show motherly affection in raising the children as able persons.
On that day, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un also took a benevolent measure to build happy homes for parentless children in all provinces of the country with Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home as a prototype.
Thus baby homes, children’s homes, primary and secondary boarding schools with a good assortment of excellent educational and childcare conditions were newly built in each and every province in a short period of less than two years. And children are growing up there bright and shiny, singing aloud the song “We are the Happiest in the World”.
While orphans in many countries are forsaken by the society and reduced to vagabonds and criminals, children at Pyongyang Baby Home and Children’s Home grow up healthily in excellent conditions under the warm care of the Party and the state. So foreigners visiting the baby home and children’s home say in admiration that the place is a unique paradise for children and the children are angels.
Thanks to the ardent love for future generation of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who has the noble intention to bring up children with nothing to envy in the world, children in our country will grow up to be reliable successors to the revolution and into strong pillars of the country, shouldering the future of powerful Korea.
Human Rights Racket of U.S. and West Denounced
The 54th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), recently held in Geneva, has raised its voice against the U.S. and the West for fomenting confrontation and division by misusing human rights issue for sinister political purposes.
China underscored that nobody has the right to admonish others for human rights issue, referring to the unreasonable criticism in a group by the U.S. and Western countries over the issues of Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong. It also urged the UNHRC to pay primary attention to the human rights violation by the U.S. and the West and take immediate steps.
Cuba dismissed the U.S. denunciation of its human rights situation as a racket prompted by a political motive, and explicitly exposed the systematic human rights violations in the U.S. such as racial discrimination and gun-related crimes.
Russia, Venezuela, Belarus, Syria and Iran also condemned in the strongest terms the hegemonic practices of the U.S. and the West which took the human rights issues of sovereign countries to the UN Security Council in pursuit of their geopolitical interests, not being content with their groundless denunciation and pressure against other countries by misusing the UNHRC as a tool to interfere in their internal affairs and infringe upon their sovereignty.
Meanwhile, the developing countries condemned the West for justifying and making its human rights standard as absolute and imposing Western values on other countries without taking account of the others’ national and regional characteristics, and legacies of diverse history, cultures and religion.
Especially, the “Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the UN” and the NAM member states called for putting an end to the biased and selective practices of judging unfairly the human rights situation of specific countries in the UN human rights arena, and emphasized that the UNHRC should strictly abide by the principles of respect for national sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, impartiality, objectivity, non-politicization and non-selectivity, and promote constructive dialogue and cooperation in its activities.
Analysts comment that the repugnance for “Western values” is on the increase, taking note of the ever-aggravating confrontation and conflicts in the UN human rights arena between the developing countries and the U.S.-led Western countries in recent years.
