October 17, 2023 is a meaningful day marking the 97th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung’s founding of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) .
Greeting the day, our people are looking back with deep emotion the immortal feats of President Kim Il Sung who founded a new vanguard organization almost a century ago. It was an event that heralded a new start in the cause of popular masses for independence, the cause of socialism, an event that ushered in a new era of Juche revolution, providing a historical basis for our revolution and founding of our Party.
It was the time when our people were subjected to untold miseries due to the Japanese imperialists’ cruel colonial oppression and plunder. On the other hand, the preceding nationalist movement and the early communist movement, all characterized by flunkeyism and dogmatism, were inflicting irreparable harm upon the anti-colonial struggle of our people for national liberation.
President Kim Il Sung, who had shouldered the responsibility for the destiny of the country and nation in his early days, directed all his efforts to finding a new way of struggle, and finally, on October 17, 1926, he founded the DIU involving young people who were full of vigour and shared the same idea and will with him.
The immediate task of the DIU was to bring down Japanese imperialism and achieve national liberation and independence, and its ultimate goal was to build socialism and communism in Korea and to build, in the long run, communism all over the world by defeating all sorts of imperialism.
With the formation of the DIU, the revolutionary struggle of our people broke away from flunkeyism, dogmatism and other outdated trend of thought and entered a new historic era of victoriously advancing forward with the most correct revolutionary line, strategy and tactics, relying on the efforts of our nation itself.
These were not all.
The program of the DIU, fully independent and anti-imperialist to the core, served as a basis for our Party’s programme and the principle of independence advanced by the DIU provided guidelines for our party building and party activities. Furthermore, a new generation of communists brought up by the DIU formed the backbone of our Party when it was founded.
During the prolonged period of almost a century since the formation of the DIU, our revolution advanced along the road of victory under the wise leadership of peerlessly great men, without the slightest failure or twists and turns in the face of the unheard-of trials.
Our Party which grew up from the roots of the Down-with-Imperialism Union is now leading our people and the world revolutionary peoples to victory in their struggle to achieve the ultimate goal, originally set forth by the Union.
Historic Declaration Telling a New Start of Korean Revolution
October 17 is a significant day marking the 97th anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) which was formed by President Kim Il Sung, the eternal sun of the era of independence.
Greeting this day, the Korean people are filled with a boundless feeling of respect to President Kim Il Sung who formed the DIU, first communist revolutionary organization in our country with a high aim to blaze a trail for the Korean revolution early in his teens.
Due to a struggle for power and factional strife, flunkeyism and dogmatism of the communists and nationalists in the early days, the Korean revolutionary movement met with many setbacks in 1920s. This has caused the Korean national liberation struggle against colonialism not to find its correct path.
Against this backdrop, President Kim Il Sung formed the DIU consisting of young communists on October 17, 1926. With this, the Korean revolution greeted a new historic era of advancing on the principle of independence, breaking with all sorts of old trends of thought including flunkeyism and dogmatism.
Thenceforth, the program of the DIU became the basis of our Party’s program; its principle of independence served as our Party’s principle in its building and activities; and the young generation it began to bring up formed the backbone of Party’s founding.
The program of the DIU also made a great contribution to the accomplishment of the independent cause of humankind as it was a great program of revolutionary struggle against imperialism that encouraged all the oppressed working people around the world, including those in the colonial and dependent countries, to wage a struggle against imperialism.
By inheriting the idea and tradition of the DIU through centuries and generations, our Party and people defeated two formidable imperialist forces in the arduous and protracted road of the Korean revolution and built the most superior people-centered socialism.
The Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) could follow the road of only victory and glory, recording the longest history of leadership in the world. That is because it has led the revolutionary struggle upholding the sole banner of the DIU that gave birth to the historic roots of our Party and an era of independence.
The wise leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un – outstanding leader of the Juche revolution – made it possible to cement further the invincible might of our country as a politico-ideological power of single-hearted unity and world-class military power. It also enabled the dignity of our people to stand in a high statue in the history of our nation.
A western statesman said that under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, the WPK since its founding has braved all trials and difficulties and firmly carried forward the sacred history and tradition pioneered by the DIU. He continued to highly praise that the WPK is guiding the socialist cause towards a brilliant victory as it has held respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in high esteem.
The WPK will always emerge victorious by inheriting the tradition of the DIU as it holds in high esteem respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is carrying forward the idea and will of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.
KCNA Commentary on Japan's Dangerous Military Moves
Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Japan completely took off its bothersome mask of "exclusive defense".
The Japanese defense minister on October 10 asserted that the deployment period of long-range missiles for the possession of the "capability of attacking enemy bases" directly giving a blow to the DPRK, China and other neighboring countries would be earlier.
On October 5, the minister visited the U.S. and begged it to provide its long-range cruise missile Tomahawk one year earlier than scheduled.
All the facts go to prove that Japan's military moves for reinvasion have reached a very grave phase.
As everybody knows, the "Self-Defense Forces" of Japan have long gone beyond the demand for "exclusive defense".
The yearly-increasing military expenditure, introduction of ultra-modern military hardware for attack including aircraft carrier and latest stealth fighters, the establishment of military operation posture in space, cyber and electromagnetic field, etc. are all aimed to carry out the war of aggression.
The large-scale military drills in the archipelago and at sea for steadily mastering and completing the offensive capabilities are an extension of its implementation.
Japan has already laid a springboard for expanding the sphere of the SDF's activities to the whole world and announced war guidelines specifying the possession of the "capability of attacking enemy bases" and the increase of the defense expenditure in the end of last year.
In order to realize its military ambition, Japan has interfered in the internal affairs of other countries and stepped up the overseas advance of the SDF, pursuant to the U.S. strategy for hegemony.
It has persistently caused friction with neighboring countries on the plea of territorial dominium, naval security and other issues and is openly staging multinational military drills at home and abroad under the pretext of tightening the alliance.
In last August Japan, together with the bosses of the U.S. and the south Korean puppet group, discussed at the Camp David Resort in the suburb of Washington that they would activate within the year a "data-sharing mechanism to exchange real-time missile warning data that would improve the detection and assessment of DPRK launches" and that tripartite military drills would be also arranged on an annual basis.
The "annual tripartite military drills" are little short of the "right to admit" to the Korean peninsula as it is a "legitimate pretext" for the SDF to master the drills for reinvasion of the Korean peninsula and be involved in the Korean front in contingency.
War state Japan's reinvasion is not a fiction but a reality.
Japan's war hysteria to repeat the time when it provoked the "Unyo-maru" incident in the last century and enforced the illegal "Kanghwa Island Treaty" and then incorporated the Tok Island into the "territory of Japan" and advanced to annexation of Korea, invasion of the continent and southern areas, has reached an extreme phase.
Japan's arrogant choice will create new challenges to its security and will result in escalating tension on the Korean peninsula and in the region.
Japan should not act rashly.
The armed forces of the DPRK, with the important mission to defend peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the region, are keenly watching every move of Japan, sworn enemy, to fly a war criminal flag on this land again while seeking the territory of Korea generation after generation, oblivious of the history of defeat.
U.S. Scheme for Nuclear Supremacy Rebuked
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Kwang Myong, a researcher of the Institute for Disarmament and Peace of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, issued the following article titled "U.S. pursuit of nuclear supremacy is root cause of strategic instability destroying world peace" on October 17:
At a time when peace and stability are seriously wrecked in Europe, the Middle East and other parts of the world due to the U.S. hegemonic moves and interference, American politicians again asserted that the U.S. should dominate the world with nuclear upper-hand, arousing great uneasiness and concern of the international community.
Some days ago, the U.S. congressional sub-committee on strategic forces termed the anti-U.S. independent countries' bolstering of self-defensive military capability "threat", and released an extremely risky report which calls for rounding off the U.S. mainland missile defense system and accelerating the modernization of nuclear forces to cope with it.
The U.S., the world's biggest nuclear weapons state and the world's first nuclear user which adopted the preemptive nuclear attack on other countries as its national policy, is talking about "nuclear threat" from someone. This is a sophism making profound confusing of right and wrong and just like a guilty party filing the suit first.
It is working hard to highlight the defensive nature, but the world recognizes that the U.S. mainland missile defense system is, in essence, a means for carrying out a nuclear war of aggression.
In the Cold War period, the U.S. put forward the "Strategic Defense Initiative", called the "star wars" plan, under the pretext of coping with the nuclear threat from the former Soviet Union. After the end of the Cold War, it unilaterally quit the ABM treaty (anti-ballistic missile system), which was concluded between the Soviet Union and the U.S., in 2001 under the judgment that the treaty was hindering its nuclear arms buildup.
Clear is the ulterior aim sought by the U.S. through its ceaseless updating of the interceptor missile system. Its aim is to make the shield stronger so that the spear can be used as safely as possible.
In this sense, the U.S. scheme to build the missile defense system in the mainland under the pretext of "nuclear threat from north Korea" is, in fact, part of the out-and-out offensive moves for bolstering up the nuclear force to make a preemptive nuclear strike at the DPRK easier.
The disruption of the strategic balance between offense and defense will cause conflicts.
The U.S. spearhead for carrying out its geopolitical hegemony strategy by blackmailing other countries with nukes is now being further sharpened, revealing its insidious appearance.
The U.S., giving up its "principle of no-first use of nuclear weapons", is planning to increase the stockpile of nuclear materials necessary for making strategic and tactical nuclear warheads and nuclear bombs in a geometric way. And it is hell-bent on modernizing the nuclear triad to carry them on.
In January 2017, the U.S. Department of Defense approved the development of next-generation Columbia-class strategic nuclear submarine, and has been speeding up the work for replacing all Ohio-class strategic nuclear submarines with Columbia-class ones from 2027. Last December, it first opened the sixth-generation stealth nuclear strategic bomber, B-21 Raider, to the public.
In addition, the U.S. planned to replace Minuteman 3 with a new ICBM, LGM-35A Sentinel, from 2029 and announced the fact that the first ground test of the first-stage solid-fuel engine for the LGM-35A Sentinel was conducted in March last.
It is also desperately resorting to space militarization and spending astronomical funds on the development of latest weapons using laser technology.
This is proved by the facts that the U.S. put 10 military satellites into orbit in April in order to bolster the capability of tracking ultra-modern missiles including hypersonic missiles in the low earth orbit and that a person concerned of the Missile Defense Agency of the U.S. Defense Department said in August that the research of a directed-energy weapon for intercepting missiles of hostile countries finally came to fruition.
What merits a more serious attention is that the U.S. has deliberately escalated the situation by frequently dispatching nuclear strategic assets to hotspots including Northeast Asia and offering ultra-modern military hardware to its junior allies.
All the facts eloquently show who is threatening with nukes and who is threatened by whom.
The strengthened military capability for independence and self-defense can never be a pretext for bolstering up the nuclear force for aggression.
The U.S. arms buildup targeting nuclear powers is bound to bring about a due counteraction, and the world is plunging deeper into vortex of the "new Cold War", an era of new nuclear arms race.
The reality urgently requires the DPRK, which is standing in confrontation with the U.S. imperialism, the most aggressive nuclear war criminal force, to bolster up its self-defensive military capabilities for deterring a nuclear war both in quality and quantity and in a rapid way.
The international community should heighten vigilance against the U.S. reckless moves for nuclear arms buildup that undermine the basis of global peace and stability, and never remain a passive onlooker to them.
The DPRK will counter the hostile forces' any attempt for a nuclear war with its overwhelming and decisive response strategy and fulfill its mission as a responsible nuclear weapons state for reliably defending peace and security in the region and the rest of the world.
Int'l Affairs Analyst on NATO's Nuclear War Drills
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Tong Myong, a researcher of the Society for International Politics Study in the DPRK, released the following article titled "NATO's nuclear war drills again highlight the U.S. entity as a nuclear maniac" on October 17:
The U.S.-led NATO will stage a simulated nuclear bomb dropping drill called "Steadfast Noon" on October 16-26.
In this regard, the secretary general of the NATO said the Ukrainian war reminds that NATO's nuclear weapons play an important role in deterring aggression, asserting that the drill will promote the reliability, efficiency and security of the NATO nuclear deterrence and send a clear message that NATO would protect and defend its allies.
The "Steadfast Noon" drill, which had been staged under tightest secrecy with the aim of making the pilots of NATO member states get familiar with the use of U.S. tactical nuclear bombs according to the "NATO nuclear-sharing policy" adopted in 1966, has developed very dangerously, revealing its offensive nature since last year.
Various kinds of airplanes, including the 4th and 5th generation fighters, reconnaissance planes and tanker planes, and even U.S. nuclear strategic bombers B-52 are involved in the drill to master the dropping of B61 tactical nuclear bombs deployed in Europe. This drill is evidently actual nuclear war maneuvers.
Moreover, B61 tactical nuclear bomb is 20 times stronger in killing and destructive power than the nuclear bombs that reduced Hiroshima and Nagasaki to a heap of ashes in a moment and killed hundreds of thousands of people. To throw such bomb on mankind is a dangerous nuclear gambling that can be done only by nuclear maniacs.
What is more serious is the fact that all those deeds are being done under the active participation and support of the U.S., the only nuclear war criminal state in the world.
No one can deny that the U.S. is persisting in nuclear threat and blackmail against the anti-imperialist independent countries while unhesitatingly transferring nuclear technology to its followers kowtowing to it.
It is none other than the U.S. which is spreading nuclear technology through the formation of AUKUS, a nuclear confrontation alliance, and systematically violating and destroying the international nuclear disarmament treaties.
The U.S. nuclear racket going far beyond the danger line has been intensively revealed in the Korean peninsula.
The U.S. has frequently staged large-scale separate and combined drills making a preemptive nuclear strike at the DPRK and its neighboring countries a fait accompli, while deploying all kinds of nuclear strike means in the Korean peninsula, the biggest hotspot in the world, on a permanent basis.
It was only some days ago that the U.S. strategic nuclear submarine with dozens of nuclear warheads showed itself in the waters of the region of south Korean puppets and that the U.S. nuclear carrier Ronald Reagan appeared at Pusan Port in the puppet region.
Owing to the U.S dangerous nuclear provocations not only in Northeast Asia, including the Korean peninsula, but also in other parts of the world, this planet is now getting closer to a thermonuclear zone, not a nuclear-free zone, and to war and confrontation, not peace and stability.
It is by no means fortuitous that the international community is raising the voice of uneasiness and concern that the cloud of a thermonuclear war from Washington makes Armageddon potential.
The reality goes to prove once again that the dark clouds of a dreadful thermonuclear war can never be wiped out as long as the U.S., a heinous nuclear war killer which regards nukes as the key for its hegemonic foreign policy, exists.
The whole international community strongly aspiring to justice and truth should squarely see through the aggressive nature of the U.S. and NATO forces' reckless thermonuclear war moves and resolutely foil them step by step with the concerted efforts.
Prevailing Situation of Middle East - Product of U.S. Hegemonic Strategy
Recently, a grave armed conflict broke out in the Middle East. This is an inevitable result from the nearly 80-year-long U.S. strategy for dominance in the region.
However, the U.S., turning black into white, is disguising Israel as a “victim”, in total disregard of what causes and motivates the Middle East situation this time.
Also, not content with massive delivery of war supplies into Israel, it has stationed even an aircraft carrier strike group in the territorial waters in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, instigating the Israel’s massacre of the Palestinians.
Such a wicked behavior of the U.S. clearly proves once again that what it claimed to be an “impartial mediator” in resolving the Palestinian problem is no more than a trick to deceive the international community.
Despite the painstaking efforts by the international society, Palestine-Israel peace process has almost come to naught and the vicious circle of armed conflicts never ends. This entirely lies in the extreme one-sided policy of the U.S. which is giving a tacit approval of Israel and helping it in its unlawful attempt to expand territories.
The U.S. strategy is to put the Middle East, the world’s biggest energy reserve and a military strategic point, under its full control by using Israel as its shock brigade and puppet. Today’s reality clearly shows what a tragic result such U.S. strategy has brought about.
The broad spectrum of the international society, as well as Arab countries, are now strongly blaming the U.S. for patronizing and backing Israel, which is branding the Palestinian people’s righteous struggle to regain their legitimate right as an “act of terrorism”.
The US-assisted missile defense system “Iron Dome” of Israel became useless against the rocket attack of the Palestine resistance forces. And the Mossad, said to be hand-raised by the U.S., has never predicted the surprise attack launched this time. This gave rise to the increased voice of lamentation and mockery even in the U.S. All this brings into bold relief the U.S. defeat.
The U.S. is making a great fuss, being hell-bent on military aid to Israel and dispatching an aircraft carrier strike group. This only proves that the U.S. is in fear of its total collapse of the system of domination over the Middle East made at no small pains.
There is an ever-growing aspiration among humankind to put an end for good to domination, high-handedness and arbitrariness and ensure peace and stability in the region and the rest of the world.
The trend of history aspiring after independence, equality and justice can never be checked, no matter how desperate the U.S. is. The anachronistic strategy of the U.S. for hegemony will face a greater protest and denunciation with the passage of time.
