Ceremony of Launching Newly-built Submarine Held with Splendor in Presence of Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un
Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- A new powerful entity has emerged to demonstrate the rapid development of the Juche-based naval force all over the world in the glorious journey of ushering in a new era of a great prosperous and powerful country with the world-renowned tremendous national defence capabilities, unprecedented in the nation-building history of the DPRK, under the outstanding leadership of the ever-victorious Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).
The heroic munitions industrial workers, scientists and technicians, boundlessly loyal to the revolutionary cause of the WPK, built a Korean-style tactical nuclear attack submarine and presented it as a gift to the motherland celebrating its 75th founding anniversary.
The submarine-launching ceremony heralded the beginning of a new chapter for bolstering up the naval force of the DPRK and made clearer the steadfast will of the WPK and the government of the DPRK to further strengthen the state nuclear deterrence both in quality and quantity and by leaps and bounds for regional and global peace and security.
The ceremony was splendidly held on Sept. 6 in the presence of Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, with attendance of leading officials of the Party, government and military, including Marshal Ri Pyong Chol, Marshal Pak Jong Chon, Premier of the Cabinet Kim Tok Hun and Admiral Kim Myong Sik, amid the great joy and excitement of commanding officers and seamen of the East Sea Fleet of the Navy and all the workers, scientists and technicians of the Pongdae Dockyard.
The venue of the ceremony was full of deep gratitude and reverence for the WPK, the great motherly Party, which has realized the long-cherished desire of the nation by leading the great development of the self-reliant defence industry, the revolutionary industry, to further strengthen the nuclear force representing the national prestige and honor and the absolute might of the Republic and consolidate the irreversible status of the country.
When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un arrived at the submarine-launching venue, all the participants broke into enthusiastic cheers as a token of their admiration for the iron-willed brilliant commander and outstanding leader of the people who is paving a broad avenue toward great victory and prosperity with his world-famous matchless pluck and courage, ardent love and trust in the people, and tireless dedication to the building of a prosperous country with powerful army.
Amid the solemn playing of the national anthem of the DPRK, the guards of honor of the Navy of the Korean People's Army (KPA) slowly hoisted the national flag associated with the noble soul of the service personnel of the Navy who have fought to defend the vast sea of the country for more than 70 years, and symbolic of the eternal dignity and invincibility of the DPRK.
Then, Marshal Ri Pyong Chol conveyed the order of the Central Military Commission of the WPK on the transfer of the tactical nuclear attack submarine to the Navy of the KPA.
According to the order of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, the tactical nuclear attack submarine No. 841, the first of its kind, was transferred to the relevant submarine squadron under the East Sea Fleet of the KPA Navy and named the "Hero Kim Kun Ok".
Kim Jong Un conferred the transfer certificate on the commander of the submarine squadron under the East Sea Fleet of the Navy.
He made a meaningful speech congratulating the launching ceremony.
Saying that the submarine No. 841 " Hero Kim Kun Ok" to be launched today will perform its combat mission as one of core underwater offensive means of the naval force of the DPRK, he highly praised it as the first entity, produced by the noble ideal and peerless creation struggle of the WPK and its revolutionary industrial workers, in the great cause of building an advanced maritime power.
He noted that the Party Central Committee decided to make greater leaps forward in the shipbuilding industry of the country in order to substantially guarantee a new heyday of bolstering up the naval force. There is no room to step back in the drive for the expansion of the naval vessel-building industry as it is the top priority task to be fulfilled without fail, he said, clarifying the strategic and tactical plan to continuously enhance the modernity of underwater and surface forces and push forward with the nuclear weaponization of the Navy in the future, too.
When Kim Jong Un finished his congratulatory speech, all the participants broke into cheers of "Hurrah!" to express their ardent loyalty.
The scientists, technicians and workers of the Pongdae Submarine Factory extended deep thanks to Kim Jong Un who is ushering in a heyday of bolstering up the naval force, clearly indicating the orientation of the development of the Korean-style submarine industry and the way for developing new-type submarine.
Kim Jong Un had a photo session with senior officials of the Party and the government, leading commanding officers of the Navy and senior officials of the submarine factory in commemoration of the launch.
Marshal Ri Pyong Chol ordered the launching of the submarine after being informed by the manager of the factory that it was ready to be launched.
When the signal was given, the newly built submarine was launched amid the shower of confetti and release of balloons, reflecting the excitement and joy of all the participants witnessing the historical moment of epochal significance in bolstering up the naval force.
Kim Jong Un repeatedly praised the workers in the munitions industry, saying that thanks to the inexhaustible strength and enthusiasm resulting from the loyalty and patriotism displayed by them upholding the revolutionary defence-building policy with pure conscience, sense of obligation and devoted implementation, it was possible to demonstrate the might of the country once again ahead of the 75th founding anniversary of the Republic. He expressed belief that the officials and workers of the factory would continue to add glory to their great honor as the genuine patriots contributing to the development of the naval vessel-building industry in the new century and the front-line fighters defending the arsenal for the defence of the territorial waters.
On September 7, he inspected the tactical nuclear submarine "Hero Kim Kun Ok" preparing for a shakedown cruise.
A ceremony was hosted by the East Sea Fleet of the KPA Navy, to which the tactical nuclear attack submarine was assigned, to greet the Supreme Commander of the DPRK armed forces at the dock.
Kim Jong Un reviewed the honor colours of the East Sea Fleet of the KPA Navy and the guards of honor.
He was greeted by Admiral Kim Myong Sik, commander of the KPA Navy, Vice-Admiral Kim Chang Guk, political commissar of the KPA Navy, commanding officers of the East and West Sea Fleets of the KPA Navy and military and political officers of submarine squadrons.
He entered the tactical nuclear attack submarine to acquaint himself with its weapon system and underwater operation capability.
Saying that to arm the navy with nuclear weapons arises as an urgent task of the times and a crucial requirement for building the revolutionary armed forces, the fulfillment of which brooks no further delay, he stressed the need to enable the Navy to successfully carry out its strategic duty by hastening the transfer of underwater and surface vessels equipped with tactical nuclear weapons to the Navy.
He expressed expectation and belief that the officers and sailors of the submarine would become the model of the navy and the example to the whole army not only in the politico-ideological, spiritual and moral readiness but also in rounding off the preparations for a revolutionary war and continue to create new myth of the heroic navy in the van by firmly carrying forward the great sailor spirit of the preceding generations as befitting the ones of the submarine named after Hero Kim Kun Ok, the hero commanding officer of the first generation of the naval force of the Republic.
He had a photo taken with all the sailors of the submarine with the submarine "Hero Kim Kun Ok" in the background.
All the commanding officers and sailors of the submarine "Hero Kim Kun Ok" made a firm pledge to demonstrate their bravery as death-defying seamen and strong fist of the navy, regarding as lifeblood of their destiny the boundless love and trust by the great brilliant commander who provided them with an invincible treasured sword capable of defeating any formidable enemy, prayed for their safe navigation and feats and indicated the ever-victorious route aboard the submarine.
The ceremony of launching a tactical nuclear attack submarine, held just before the 75th founding anniversary of the DPRK, will be etched in the history of the country as a historic event worthy of special note in the history of bolstering up the Juche-based naval force and the history of building the state nuclear force in the great era of Kim Jong Un, and as a significant occasion that solemnly declared the start of the advance toward the attainment of the grandiose goal for turning the country into an advanced maritime power.
Int'l Seminar Held
Pyongyang, September 7 (KCNA) -- An international seminar on "Independence, sovereignty and social development" took place in Rome on Sept. 3 to mark the 75th birthday of the DPRK, under the sponsorship of the International Institute of the Juche Idea (IIJI).
Present there were the vice-director general of the IIJI, the director general of the European Society for the Study of the Juche Idea and personages of political and social circles and members of Juche idea study organizations in different countries including Russia, Norway, Romania, Austria, Italy and Japan.
Attending it through video conferencing were the director general and the secretary general of the IIJI, the director generals and secretary generals of the Juche idea study institutes in Asian, African and Latin American regions, the vice-chairman of the Korean Association of Social Scientists and representatives of Juche idea study organizations and personages of various circles in 60-odd countries.
Matteo Carbonelli, vice-director general of the IIJI, made an opening address at the seminar. Then, read out were the congratulatory messages from the Korean Association of Social Scientists, the Asian Regional Institute of the Juche Idea, the European Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, the African Regional Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Latin American Institute of the Juche Idea.
Director General Ramon Jimenez Lopez and Secretary General Kenichi Ogami of the IIJI, and Pak Chol Jun, vice-chairman of the Korean Association of Social Scientists, made congratulatory speeches at the seminar.
Edmond Jouve, director general of the European Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, noted in his keynote report:
The DPRK is the only country on the earth that fully exercises its rights and dignity as a sovereign state and dynamically advances along its own correct path of development.
The DPRK, which declared its birth as the first people's democratic state in the East 75 years ago, has maintained the principle of Juche in ideology, independence in politics, self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in national defence in its course full of hardship and ordeals.
The exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il for the foundation and development of the DPRK and the cause of global independence will be immortal along with the strong aspiration of mankind toward independence and the future of prosperous socialist Korea.
The DPRK is demonstrating its might as an independent power to the whole world under the guidance of the respected His Excellency Kim Jong Un.
Then speeches were made by Francis F. Lyimo, deputy director general of the African Regional Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, Dmitri Kostenko, chairman of the Russian Association for the Study of the Juche Idea, and other personages. Speakers said that the DPRK is a powerful country, which showed the whole world that only the people led by the outstanding leader can become the master of their destiny and emerge victorious in the revolution. And they expressed their desire to personally witness the reality of the DPRK making eye-opening development under the leadership of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un and learn from its experience.
A letter to Kim Jong Un was adopted at the seminar.
The participants in the seminar watched a video showing the proud appearance of socialist Korea undergoing a great transformation under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Immortal Exploits of Founding Our Republic
September 9 this year is a meaningful day that marks the 75th anniversary when President Kim Il Sung founded our glorious fatherland, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Greeting this day, our people feel deep gratitude and pay high tribute to President Kim Il Sung, the founding father of our state, who, in his early years, put forth an original line of state building and wisely led the struggle for its realization, thereby developing our country into a prosperous, independent and sovereign state.
Since the day he embarked on the road of revolution, he paid deep attention to the issue of sovereignty. After Korea’s liberation, he laid solid foundations for the establishment of an independent and sovereign state in the fields of politics, economy, culture, and military affairs. On such grounds, he devoted his heart and soul to founding a people’s state that accurately reflects the will and aspirations of the entire Korean nation.
President Kim Il Sung put the draft constitution to a nationwide discussion to encourage the people to develop high consciousness and take great pride that they are the true masters of the new Korea who even take direct part in formulating the basic legislation of the state. He also energetically guided the work to create the official name of the country, the national emblem, flag and anthem so that they clearly represent the independent, democratic and popular character of our country.
He named the country the “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”. The national emblem depicts a shining five-point star and Mt. Paektu at the top and a grand hydroelectric power station below it, with ears of rice bound with red ribbon inscribed with the name of our country. The national flag bears a brilliant five-point star and is designed in blue and red, symbolizing the revolutionary traditions to be carried forward by our Republic, the resourceful character of our people, and the bright future of our fatherland. The national anthem is the “Patriotic Song” which embodies the Korean people’s national dignity and pride in the beautiful and resourceful country and the tradition of vigorous struggle.
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea - this indeed is the true home for our people provided by President Kim Il Sung, the appellation of victory inspiring our people to independence.
The founding of the glorious DPRK was a historic event that solemnly declared to the world the birth of Juche Korea.
Its foundation turned our people into a strong and dignified nation, the resourceful citizens of an independent and sovereign state who hold the state power in their own hands to build their own country on their own efforts. It also granted our people with the powerful weapon to brilliantly carry out the revolutionary cause of Juche.
Holding President Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the founding father of the country and under the outstanding and seasoned leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il, our people have adorned the 75-year-long history of the DPRK with victory.
The world progressive peoples express their admiration for the DPRK that is now resolutely defending its sovereignty and dignity and is enjoying the prestige as the powerful socialist country of Juche, braving out all external pressure. They highly praise that among the many countries in the world, there is none like the DPRK which advances the revolution and construction without the slightest deviation under the leadership of the great leaders for generations.
Our people will continue to faithfully uphold the leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to work new miracles and feats in the sacred struggle for the overall development of the socialist construction and demonstrate to the world the dignity and national might of the DPRK.

Powerful Fortress of Peace and Security
September 9, 2023 marks the 75th founding anniversary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
On this significant occasion, our people and the world progressive peoples recall with boundless reverence and yearning the immortal contributions made by President Kim Il Sung, the founding father of socialist Korea, to the just cause of defending peace and security.
Since the first day of its foundation, the DPRK has served as a powerful fortress and the voice of justice and truth that reliably defends peace and security of the Korean peninsula and the rest of the world under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung.
The first official goodwill visit made by President Kim Il Sung to the former Soviet Union from February to April 1949 was an occasion of historic significance in that it demonstrated to the world the prestige of the DPRK in the struggle to defend world socialism and peace. At a formal reception held in honour of President Kim Il Sung, the leader of the former Soviet Union, Stalin expressed his great respect for the President. He said that great Comrade Kim Il Sung defended the Soviet Union with arms and at the cost of blood against the imperialists’ aggression in the East and that the Soviet Union owed it to Comrade Kim Il Sung and his indomitable struggle to carry out the socialist construction in a peaceful environment.
He went on to express his unwavering support for the DPRK, the stronghold of world peace and security as follows: The birth of democratic Korea firmly guaranteed the security of the eastern border of the Soviet Union; the leaders of the Soviet Union should clearly know that the aid for the DPRK is a spending for their own sake.
President Kim Il Sung expressed his thanks for his remarks and solemnly declared that the Korean people would display patriotism and devotion in securing the gains of the revolution and safeguarding Korea in the East of the democratic camp. This was an affirmation that the DPRK would reliably defend world peace.
It created quite a sensation that Stalin, a prestigious veteran leader of the world revolution, highly praised President Kim Il Sung, though young as he was, as an outstanding leader with international recognition and a great hero who performed immortal feats for safeguarding world peace.
Under the leadership of invincibility of the President, the DPRK repelled the aggression of the U.S.-led vassal forces in the 1950s and prevented the outbreak of another catastrophic world war. Also, for several decades following the Korean War, the DPRK has firmly guaranteed peace and security in Northeast Asia and the world at large by frustrating the wild ambition of the U.S. for world hegemony.
Today, under the leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and on the basis of its inexhaustible and absolute strength, the DPRK is firmly safeguarding peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world by smashing the moves of the U.S. imperialists and their henchmen to provoke a new war. Now the might and strength of our Republic has literally become the focus of the international politics.
The DPRK venerates President Kim Il Sung – the true defender of justice and peace – as the founding father of the country, and will shine ever brighter in the world as the bulwark of justice and fortress of peace under the leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is faithfully carrying forward the ideas and leadership of the President.
Flower Buds that Never Bloomed
Recently, the British media reported the case of a nurse charged with the murder of 7 neonates and attempted murder of 6 more, throwing everyone into consternation.
She injected insulin and air into the newborn babies she was in charge of and forced them to drink milk. She often used all sorts of violence towards the babies leading them to death. According to the reports, there was a baby less than a day old among the victims.
It is also reported that a diary, written by the criminal herself, was found in her house. She wrote in the diary that she was not kind-hearted enough to take care of new born babies and she did kill the babies intentionally.
It is an act of barbarism that makes every parent with children and any human being with love and affection shudder.
Such a heinous crime can only be seen in the animal world where ethics and morality are ignored. And it is proving that the human rights, the rule of law, freedom and prosperity advocated by the “civilized nations” of capitalism are no more than deceitful slogans.
Japan also witnesses the situation where children, the future of humankind, are being subjected to tragic fate rather than being placed under social care and protection even before they come into blossom.
One of the Japanese news agencies reported that 2,461 cases were recorded in 2022 where children suffered deaths, injuries, etc. at nursery schools, kindergartens and other child-care facilities. This was 114 cases more than the year before, an all-time record.
Every social phenomenon has its cause.
The above shocking cases and numbers are infallible results of the gangster life logic that “A human being is a wolf towards his fellow being” and the extreme misanthropy. These are rooted in individualism, the ideological foundation of the capitalist society.
The human rights situations in capitalist countries where all sorts of social evils, immorality and depravity are prevalent, may as well be termed incurable as they are inveterate evils in the capitalist system.
