Strategic Missile
Launching Drill Conducted in Eastern Region of DPRK
Pyongyang,
October 4 (KCNA) -- At dawn of October 3, a drill was staged to launch an
intermediate-range strategic missile from an eastern region of the DPRK toward
the East Sea of Korea.
The
drill was conducted as part of the efforts to train the missile soldiers
operating the hypersonic strategic weapon system in handling their equipment
and evaluate the reliability, efficiency and mobility of the DPRK's war
deterrent.
Respected
Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea
and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of
Korea, oversaw the launching drill on the spot.
Among
the spectators were Kim Jong Sik, first vice department director of the C.C.,
WPK, and Jang Chang Ha, general director of the Missile Administration of the
DPRK.
Noting
that it is a very important measure for ensuring national security and a
responsible action of our army to build up the powerful and reliable nuclear
deterrent through sustained verification of major components of the war
deterrent, improvement of their performance and mastery of the capabilities for
their successful operation and to show the counterattack means of our army in
constant mobilization posture, Comrade Kim Jong Un said:
"Through
today's launching drill, the strategic missile soldiers have fully demonstrated
their professional qualifications and counterattack posture, clearly showing
that they are very good at operating the major offensive weapon system and they
are always available for mobilization. They also added confidence to our
deterrent.
I
highly appreciate commanding officers and soldiers of the missile unit who
participated in the drill.
We
must continue our responsible efforts nonstop to constantly and repeatedly make
the enemy recognize the reliability and fatality of our strategic offensive
means.
This
is a form of exercising deterrent.
As
always expressed clearly, such activities on our part are definitely aimed at
more rapidly developing the country's nuclear war deterrent.
This
is indispensable for protecting national security and stability in today's
geopolitical environment. There will be no change in such view and line of ours.
We
must deter various threats by dint of powerful deterrent and ensure a safer
environment for the building and activities of our state."
The
missile used in the drill was launched towards the northeast direction and hit
the target point at 43°36' 28.04" latitude and 138°00' 47.02"
longitude, 1 000 km away on the East Sea of Korea.
Comrade
Kim Jong Un expressed expectation and belief that all the missile forces
would remain faithful to their missions of defending the sovereignty and
security of the Republic in a responsible combat posture.

Pyongyang,
October 3 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea released the following press statement on Saturday:
UN
Secretary-General Guterres recently submitted to the 81st Session of the UN
General Assembly a "human rights report" filled with hostile forces'
vicious criticism and smear propaganda against the DPRK.
The
act of Guterres, who unhesitatingly signed the groundless document cooked up by
the U.S., Japan, the ROK and Western countries, clearly shows his position as
the first spokesman, political instrument and puppet of the U.S. and the West,
who has completely abandoned his duty and moral obligation as UN
secretary-general having to deem impartiality and fairness vital.
The
Foreign Ministry of the DPRK holds in contempt and resolutely denounces and
rejects in the strongest terms the hostile forces reducing the sacred UN arena
into the one of malicious criticism and propaganda while distorting the human
rights situation of a sovereign state and the act of the UN secretary-general
irresponsibly following it.
The
"human rights report", a typical product of the U.S.-led hostile
forces' anti-DPRK "human rights" racket, is conspiratorial in its
contents, stereotyped in its form and illegal in its justification for
existence.
Publishing
of "reports" and enforcement of the "special rapporteur" system
to randomly estimate the human rights situations of the DPRK and other
countries in the name of the UN are a typical example that shows how impotent
and submissive the UN speaking for the international community and its head are
toward the U.S. and the West high-handed and arbitrary practices.
Now
international peace and security has plunged into the most critical phase ever
since the end of Cold War and the UN has been exposed to the worst structural
and moral crisis ever since its foundation. It is no exaggeration to say that
the current UN secretary-general is wholly to blame for this as he has connived
at the U.S. and its vassal forces' high-handed and arbitrary practices and even
followed them.
During
the term of Secretary-General Guterres, the UN has been reduced into an unfair
and undemocratic body that speaks for the exclusive interests of a specific
nation and minority, instead of general interests of the international
community, contrary to the purpose of the founding of the UN and the principle
of its Charter.
We
expect nothing from the current UN secretary-general who has betrayed the
confidence of the international community and will soon retire from office. But
we will never tolerate the repetition of such prejudiced and provocative conduct
politicizing the human rights issue in the term of the next secretary-general.
For
us, human rights are just national rights and absolute sovereignty never to be
surrendered in any case.
If
anyone hurts the dignity and system of the DPRK and encroaches upon its
people's interests, it will be regarded as a grave violation of the latter's
sovereignty and the former will be surely blamed for it.
The
DPRK will ensure its rights and interests in overall fields including
sovereignty, human rights and security by itself and thoroughly exercise them
and continuously make great efforts to eliminate the UN's partiality and double
standards and realize democracy and impartiality in the organization.
