Leading State Officials Visit Families of
War Veterans on Occasion of Day of War Victory
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Leading
officials of the DPRK visited the families of war veterans on July 23 and 24
amid the reverence for the victorious wartime generation deepening across the
country on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the victory in the great
Fatherland Liberation War.
Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium
of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea
and premier of the Cabinet, and other senior officials of the Party and
government and armed forces organs warmly congratulated the veterans on the war
victory day.
They talked about the boundless
benevolence being shown by the Party for the war veterans, defenders of the
great years and the paragons of life and struggle for all successive
generations, who proudly wrote the first page of victory in the history of the
Republic.
It is the due obligation and duty of the
descendants to respect the victorious wartime generation who showed in practice
how to defend and glorify the country, the leading officials expressed thanks,
on behalf of all the people across the country, to the war veteran families who
are devoting their sincerity to taking care of the war veterans.
The veterans earnestly asked the leading
officials to remain loyal to the leadership of the Party Central Committee
leading the country to eternal prosperity, extending deep thanks to the
respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who regards them as dear teachers who made
great history and brings the greatest glory and happiness to them.
Press Statement of DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesperson
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- A
spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of
Korea issued the following press statement on Friday:
The 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers'
Meeting, the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers' Meeting and other
ASEAN-related meetings, held recently in Manila, the capital city of
Philippines, discussed the issues of ensuring regional peace and security and
expanding cooperation among regional countries.
The DPRK respects the leading position
and role of ASEAN to ensure regional peace and security on the principles of
respect for sovereignty, sovereignty equality and non-interference in internal
affairs and pays attention to the fact that ASEAN aspires after co-prosperity
and unity as a regional community.
However, the U.S. and some countries
following it are raising waves of confrontation while inciting division and
antagonism, abusing the ASEAN arena as a space for justifying their evil
intention, contrary to the general will of regional countries prioritizing
peace, development, stability and cooperation.
The diplomatic authorities of the U.S.,
Japan and the ROK have resorted to the hostile rhetoric toward the DPRK,
talking about "its denuclearization" and debated the issue of the
Taiwan Strait under the pretext of "freedom of navigation". This
proves the fact that the U.S., Japan and the ROK are the root cause of regional
instability and the main obstacle to ensuring peace.
Southeast Asia can never be a region
subjected to promoting the U.S. "security and prosperity" and the
ASEAN arena should not be a field of searching for an opportunity of
criticizing other countries and inciting hostility towards them.
The U.S.-Japan-ROK futile attempt to
deny and infringe upon the constitutional rights of the DPRK can neither bring
up for discussion again the issue of "denuclearization", which was
irreversibly and finally concluded, nor affect the new mechanical structure of
the region being built against the background of the present position of our
state.
The crucial threat to be feared and
guarded by the region and the international community is the exclusive security
and economic bloc being formed, led by the U.S., and the attempt of Japan and
the ROK systematically violating the nuclear non-proliferation system under the
active patronage of the U.S. to go nuclear.
Consistent is the stand of the DPRK to
develop friendly and cooperative relations with the ASEAN member states, which
respect the sovereignty and right to development of our state and take friendly
attitude to it, and make responsible contributions to ensuring regional peace
and security.
The DPRK will as ever actively promote
regional peace and development and cooperation on the principle of mutual
benefit and co-prosperity, thoroughly deter any attempt of the hostile forces
to encroach upon the inviolable sovereign rights of the state and firmly defend
the core interests of national security.
KCNA Commentary on Japan's Nuclear Policy
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The present
authorities of Japan are more openly revealing their ambition for nuclear weapons.
With regard to France's declaration of
its plan to increase the number of nuclear warheads and the Finnish
parliament's approval of a revised bill on allowing the deployment of nuclear
weapons in its territory in contingency, the Japanese minister of Defence on
July 17 advocated the need to change Japan's nuclear policy, saying that it is
difficult for Japan to comment on the fact, but one thing that deserves comment
is nuclear.
The minister of Defence, who is in
charge of the security policy of Japan, unreservedly talked about the revision
of nuclear policy. This is not just a slip of the tongue to the press or
bombast from temerity.
No wonder, the Japanese chief executive
told the House of Councilors shortly ago that revision of the "Three
Non-Nuclear Principles" would be brought up for discussion alongside the
revision of the three security-related documents including the national
security strategy.
By making such shameless remarks, the
Japanese regime has openly revealed its intention to go straight to adopt it as
a major state policy decision to arm itself with nuclear weapons, which it has
long dreamed of, instead of merely placing it under debate.
Japan's revision of nuclear policy just
means the war criminal state's access to nuclear weapons.
As recognized by the international
community, the revision of the "Three Non-Nuclear Principles" should
never be Japan's "subject of debate".
Japan is a heinous war criminal state
which plunged the Asia-Pacific region into a sea of blood, using warships, planes,
cannons and bayonets for realizing the wild ambition to enslave all mankind a
century ago. It is, at the same time, an inhuman criminal state which still
denies its past crimes, distorts history and doggedly evades the legal and
moral responsibility it assumes for the international community.
For the past 80 years since its defeat,
the "Self-Defence Forces" of Japan have undergone a transformation
from the "mainland defence type" to the "overseas attack
type" aimed at launching a preemptive attack on other countries with its
official right to the possession of the "capability of attacking the enemy
base." The defence expenses are also hitting an all-time high every year
under the deceptive veil of "exclusive defence," going far beyond the
"minimum necessary limit" of a "pacifist state".
The successive rulers of Japan laid
institutional and legal foundations for reinvasion bit by bit by adopting the
"law on overseas dispatches", the "law to deal with
contingencies in areas surrounding Japan", the "law on special
measures for terrorism" and the "security legislation" alongside
their persistent effort to revise the constitution.
In particular, the present ruling
forces, which carried out the revision of the "Three Principles on
Transfer of Defence Equipment and Technology" and its operation guidelines
which stipulated the export of lethal weapons at the outset of their office,
are now seeking to forcibly revise the "three principles of
denuclearization". Such neo-militarist moves clearly prove that Japan, a
defeated nation in Asia, is accelerating its transformation into a war state,
regarding the current complicated situation as a golden opportunity for getting
rid of all sorts of chains shackling its emergence as a military giant.
It is not secret that Japan has advanced
nuclear technology and has stockpiled plutonium and enriched uranium that might
be used in making many nuclear bombs and is capable of actualizing the mass
production of nuclear weapons at any moment.
It is the immutable truth taught by
history that nuclear weapons, for their tremendous destructive power, will turn
into a means of tyranny against mankind if they are in the hands of injustice,
but will be the greatest deterrent to injustice if they are in the hands of
justice.
This is why the world people are getting
increasing vocal in their demand that war criminal nation's wild ambition for
nuclear weapons should be nipped in the bud for high possibility of repeating
the offense.
82 local councils in the archipelago
submitted a letter of opinion strongly urging the government and the diet to
preserve the "three principles of denuclearization" and the public is
blaming the authorities for seeking to "restore the politics deceiving the
people." Such mounting criticism is a due denunciation and expression of
resentment and protest against the dangerous act of the present ruling forces
to make a new history of aggression by realizing their wild nuclear ambition.
The whole world should impose stern
punishment on the vicious attempt of neo-militarism to bring nuclear holocaust
to mankind under the revanchist ambition, carrying the signboard of the
"world's only victim of atomic bombs" to gain sympathy.
Japan's pursuance of neo-militarism will
inevitably result in digging its own grave, as those who forget the past repeat
the past.
