Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance at Construction Sites of Wihwado Combined Greenhouse Farm and Permanent Embankments in Island Area

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- Under the energetic guidance of the great Party Central Committee, the people of the DPRK are setting up eye-opening creations, which promise a dramatic expansion of scope of their struggle and rapid and definite development across their country. And construction of the largest-ever greenhouse farm on the shore of the Amnok River and permanent embankments in the island area to be specially recorded in the new era of changes has been dynamically stepped up in the northwestern border of the country, and the structures have now taken on their majestic appearance.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, gave field guidance at the construction sites of the Wihwado Combined Greenhouse Farm and the permanent embankments in the city of Sinuiju and the island area of Uiju County on August 1.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Jo Yong Won, secretary of the WPK Central Committee.

He was greeted on the spot by No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, commanding officers of the large combined units of the services involved in the construction projects and officials of design and relevant institutions.

Kim Jong Un acquainted himself with the construction of the Wihwado Combined Greenhouse Farm.

He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the project, unprecedented in its extensiveness, originality and comprehensiveness, is being pushed forward according to the set timetable thanks to the proud labour struggle of the military and civilian builders who are conducting the gigantic construction campaign prioritized and declared by the Party in the spirit of unconditional implementation and with abilities of tenacious execution.

He said that the construction front of the greenhouse farm, in which not only different types of vegetable greenhouses, processing factory and storages but also a vegetable science research centre, trial cultivation greenhouses and hundreds of houses are being built simultaneously in the area vaster than those of all the large-scale greenhouse farms built in recent years put together, serves as a great demonstration of the inexhaustible development capability of our cause, which steadily leads the worthwhile pioneering work to great creations and changes.

He went round various places of the construction site.

In order to make our construction work the one of blazing the trail into the future from A to Z, it is important, while aspiring to the new and development, to design the objects of construction so that they can be multi-functional, multi-purpose and practical in conformity with their characteristics, functions and prospects, he said, pointing out a series of deviations revealed in the project.

To take as a typical example, the railway station under construction in the greenhouse farm area was designed as a passenger station that cannot perform the functions of a freight station, he said, adding that this shows that our officials are still working mechanically and passively without proper economic calculation and logical thinking. He gave instructions on changing the functional structure of the railway station so as to improve its functionality and practicality as a comprehensive transport centre, building a new vegetable storehouse and placing the vegetable processing factory around it.

He set forth a series of important tasks for developing the region including those for building all the roads in the island area in a technically qualitative way, creating drainage and water passage capacity in a scientific and prospective way in conformity with the geographical and geological conditions, making preparations in a responsible way for starting production immediately after the completion of the project like training technicians and skilled workers for the operation of the farm, supplying farm machines and equipment necessary for the farm’s operation and selecting seeds, and those for planting many fruit trees and cover plants in the areas surrounding the greenhouses, creating windbreak forests and tree nursery and building Korean evodia forests, fish farm, orchard and natural park.

He also stressed the need to envisage building various cultural bases, a clinic and other necessary elements for the promotion of the welfare of the inhabitants as suited to the geographical and isolated characteristics of the area under development, and thus create a new phase in the sphere of cultural life, instructing that these additional projects should be included in the next year’s plan and pushed forward.

Noting that the miracles in construction desired by our Party are created by the conscious and soaring spiritual strength of the masses, he said that political and ideological education should be conducted intensively without interruption, holding aloft our Party’s traditional struggle slogan “Let us produce, study and live like the anti-Japanese guerrillas!” to train all the builders to be heroes of the revolution and creation, and stressed that to this end, it is necessary to create a model for the frontline-style political and ideological education at the construction site.

He affirmed that if the large-scale greenhouse farm that will be put on a modern, intensive and industrial footing is built against the background of modern houses standing in rows on the shore of the Amnok River, this island area will enjoy fame as a characteristic base of regional development with its own strong potentials of development and as a symbol of innovative development.

Then he learned about the project for building permanent embankments in the island areas of the city of Sinuiju and Uiju County.

Upholding with death-defying practice the Party Central Committee’s order to provide a permanent security guarantee in the island area in parallel with the construction of the greenhouse farm, the service personnel have completed the first-stage embankment project ahead of schedule, thus building on the shore of the Amnok River a splendid bulwark against any natural disaster.

He highly praised the soldier-builders for making a contribution to turning the island handed down as an island of disaster into the one of paradise, saying delightedly that flooding that had been regarded by the residents as their fate has become a tale of the past and the area is undergoing tremendous changes as a promenade and even a riverside park not inferior to those on the shore of the Taedong River in Pyongyang are being built.

He expressed expectation and belief that the builders, mindful of their honourable mission and duty as pioneers, performers and executors of the great revolution, will successfully build the combined greenhouse farm in the Sinuiju area, a border gateway to the country, through their continuous and accelerated creative struggle and present it as a gift to the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

Inspired by his great trust and militant encouragement, all the builders renewed their firm will to build a modern ideal city of cultural efflorescence on the shore of the Amnok River, where a new life of socialism has been settled, as early as possible by redoubling the creative mettle of the revolutionary army and the fighting spirit of the heroic youth.

DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesperson on Agreement on Cambodia and Thailand

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA on August 2 as regards the recent agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on enforcing a ceasefire in the border conflict area:

The leaders of Cambodia and Thailand held direct talks in Malaysia on July 28 and agreed to suspend the five-day-long armed conflict.

We pay regard to the fact that the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand has been achieved thanks to the peace-loving efforts of the countries concerned and ASEAN to settle a regional issue peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy.

We hope that the countries in Southeast Asia will achieve lasting peace and stability in the region by ironing out their disagreements, deepening political confidence and promoting bilateral cooperation.

International Affairs Analyst on Danger of U.S.-Japan Military Alliance Degenerating into "Nuclear Alliance"

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Ri Myong Nam, an international affairs analyst of the DPRK, issued the following article titled "The danger of the U.S.-Japan military alliance degenerating into 'nuclear alliance' should never be overlooked":

Japan's dangerous attempt to embark on the road of reinvasion by realizing its ambition for becoming a military giant with the backing of the U.S. is going beyond the limit line.

Days ago, a foreign media disclosed that Japan and the U.S. held a confab over the issue of offering "extended deterrence of nukes". At the confab, both sides cooked up detailed strategy and tactical plans related to the U.S. doctrine of using nuclear weapons in case a war breaks out in the East Asian region and confirmed them for several times, the media said.

The media said that it is the first time to open to the public the fact that Japan and the U.S. intensified the discussion of the issue of simulating the practical use of nuclear weapons and it shows the U.S.-Japan military alliance is turning into a dangerous "nuclear alliance".

It is the fact already open to public that Japan has regularly held one or two rounds of consultations every year from 2010 when it established the "dialogue system" for "extended deterrence" in collusion with the U.S.

Last year, the U.S. and Japan upgraded the "extended deterrence consultation" to the ministerial level and clarified the "extended deterrence guidelines" which stipulates the standards of use of U.S. nuclear weapons in contingency and procedure of mastering them.

In June last, too, the U.S. and Japan held "extended deterrence consultation" again and reconfirmed the "extended deterrence guidelines", the product of the Biden administration, organized a visit of Japanese interested people to the base of "B-52" strategic bombers capable of loading nuclear weapons and staged a desktop drill simulating the use of nukes.

Japan, which had so far hoodwinked the world public by talking about "pacifist constitution" and "exclusive defense", has staged an "extended deterrence" confab that makes the use of U.S. nuclear weapons a fait accompli in contingency. Not content with this, it regularly organizes its officials' visit to the U.S. nuclear base. This proves that the U.S.-Japan military alliance has turned into the level of practical "nuclear alliance".

In recent years the U.S. has stepped up the advance and rotational deployment of nuclear strategic means at major naval and air bases in Hawaii, Guam and Japan to maintain military supremacy in the Asia-Pacific region and, at the same time, staged joint military drills one after another with its junior allies by mobilizing strategic bombers and nuclear submarines in great numbers, pushing the regional situation to the dangerous touch-and-go situation.

Timed to coincide with this, the political circles in Japan are making such extremely bellicose remarks as "sharing of nukes" with the U.S., possessing of nuclear submarines, reexamination of the "three principles of denuclearization" and the acceptance of introducing nuclear weapons.

It is the general goal of Japan's sinister revenge-seeking intention to lay the foundation for turning itself into a military giant at any cost and realize its ambition for the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" even by introducing nuclear weapons of the U.S. with the backing of its master that tries to contain strategic enemies in the region through the nuclear edge.

What should not be overlooked is the fact that Japan is often talking about "threat from the neighboring countries" and making it a fait accompli that the target of the U.S.-Japan "nuclear alliance" is none other than the DPRK and other neighboring countries.

Japan's attempt to challenge the nuclear powers in the region by establishing the "nuclear alliance" with its master in the Asia-Pacific region, especially the Northeast Asian region, where the strategic interests of big powers are inextricably intertwined to make it the world hotbed, is an extremely dangerous attempt that can bring nuclear disaster to the world.

It is by no means fortuitous that the international community is showing strong vigilance, branding Japan's persistent nuclear cooperation with the U.S. and frantic powder-reeking military confrontation moves as an anti-peaceful war act of increasing the instability in the region and the danger of nuclear conflict.

Japan, the only A-bomb victim in the world, is recklessly availing itself of its master's strategy for nuclear hegemony, oblivious of its bitter past. This is a dangerous act of bringing self-destruction.

All the facts clearly prove that quite just are the DPRK's measures for bolstering up its self-defensive capabilities for ensuring the dynamic balance in the region and defending the sovereign territory of the state to cope with the ever-increasing attempt of the enemy countries to expand the nuclear military alliance.

The closer Japan crawls under the U.S. "nuclear umbrella" while offering the archipelago to its master as the nuclear outpost, the worse its security uneasiness will become.

The international community should heighten vigilance against the aggressive and exclusive U.S.-Japan relations degenerating into "nuclear alliance".

Press Statement of Kim Yo Jong, Vice Department Director of C.C., WPK

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Monday issued the following statement titled "The contact between the DPRK and the U.S. is only a 'hope' of the U.S.":

Shortly ago, a person in authority of the White House said that the president stabilized the situation on the Korean peninsula and reached the first top-level agreement on denuclearization through the three DPRK-U.S. summit meetings during his first term of office and that he is still open to dialogue with the DPRK leader for achieving the complete denuclearization of the DPRK.

We do not want to give any meaning to the U.S. side's unilateral assessment of the past DPRK-U.S. dialogue.

It is worth taking into account the fact that the year 2025 is neither 2018 nor 2019.

The recognition of the irreversible position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state and the hard fact that its capabilities and geopolitical environment have radically changed should be a prerequisite for predicting and thinking everything in the future.

No one can deny the reality and should not misunderstand.

Any attempt to deny the position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state which was established along with the existence of a powerful nuclear deterrent and fixed by the supreme law reflecting the unanimous will of all the DPRK people will be thoroughly rejected.

The DPRK is open to any option in defending its present national position.

There should be a minimum judgment to admit that it is by no means beneficial to each other for the two countries possessed of nuclear weapons to go in a confrontational direction, and if so, it would be advisable to seek another way of contact on the basis of such new thinking.

I do not want to deny the fact that the personal relationship between the head of our state and the present U.S. president is not bad.

However, if the personal relations between the top leaders of the DPRK and the U.S. are to serve the purpose of denuclearization, it can be interpreted as nothing but a mockery of the other party.

If the U.S. fails to accept the changed reality and persists in the failed past, the DPRK-U.S. meeting will remain as a "hope" of the U.S. side.
