Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Visits Flying Group of Guards 1st Air Wing of Korean People’s Army and Guides Drills Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, visited a flying group of the Guards 1st Air Wing of the Korean People’s Army and guided anti-air combat and air raid drills of flying corps of the Air Force on May 15. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Pak Jong Chon, Jo Chun Ryong and Kim Jong Sik, leading officials of the WPK Central Committee, Ri Pyong Chol, general advisor for the munitions policy of the WPK Central Committee, and Kim Yong Hwan, president of the Academy of Defence Sciences. He was greeted by Air Chief Marshal Kim Kwang Hyok, commander of the KPA Air Force, and air wing commanders of the Air Force. After hearing the report on the results of the agreement between clients and producers on the development of air weapons and equipment and the long-term plan, he clarified the view of the Party Central Committee as regards the development of the new-generation air assault and anti-air weapon systems of a high level, and advanced important tasks for its realization. He mounted the observation post at the flight control station, and guided the anti-air combat and air raid drills of the flying corps of the Air Force. The drills were aimed at making the flying corps, anti-air missile sub-units, radar sub-units and electronic warfare sub-units experienced in the anti-air mission to detect, track and destroy the enemy cruise missiles and suicidal drones attacking from different directions and in the combat mission to make the enemy drones blind and destroy them with different electronic means. There also took place an application test of new-type long-range precision guided glide bomb and a drill of flying corps’ raid on targets. In performing the anti-air defence tactical mission to detect, track and destroy enemy cruise missiles and suicidal drones attacking from different directions, the anti-air missile sub-units and detection and electronic warfare sub-units carried out only the task of detecting and tracking air targets and the flying corps, while performing guard flight mission in the air duty area as in an actual war environment, detected, tracked and destroyed the attacking air targets. The drills proved the anti-air defence capabilities of the groups of the Guards 1st Air Wing. Saying that it is very important to judge the abilities of the anti-air units for carrying out their missions in actual war and take necessary measures, Kim Jong Un stressed that such drills as today’s are very useful for making pilots experienced in modern air combat methods. Expressing the view of the Party Central Committee on the theoretical and practical issues arising in further enhancing the combat effectiveness of the state anti-air defence systems, he set forth important tasks for the orientation of the development of air weapon systems, anti-air defence means, integrated detection and electronic warfare system and integrated anti-drone system. The flying corps of the Guards 1st Air Wing, which perfectly carried out their anti-air tactical mission, made zero-feet flight over the observation post to pay the highest tribute to Kim Jong Un, who has remarkably developed the KPA into an ever-victorious revolutionary army for the security of the state and the well-being of the people with his outstanding military ideas, far-sighted military wisdom and energetic leadership. Kim Jong Un acknowledged the flying corps and expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the pilots proved the combat reliability of the KPA Air Force with practical manoeuvrings and set an excellent example in rounding off the war preparations. There took place a drill of destroying enemy drones with helicopter and flying corps’ precision bombing of naval targets, followed by a demonstration flight of strategic reconnaissance drones and multi-mission drones. Saying that victory in war is decided first on the training ground and that when all the service personnel devote themselves to combat and political training with the noble sense of mission of defending the country and the revolution, the sky, land and sea of our sacred country will be further consolidated as an impregnable fortress no enemy would dare attack, he called upon all the units of the entire army to bring about a radical turn in making preparations for war in constant readiness while remaining on full alert. He met the pilots who took part in the drills, highly praised them for fully demonstrating their combat capability that deserves trust and confidence of the country and the people, and gave thanks to the commanding officers of the Air Force and the pilots. Expressing belief that all the officers and men of the Air Force will reliably defend the security of the territorial airspace of our state and the safety of its people with matchless bravery and a heroic fighting spirit in the future, too, he had a photo taken with them. The service personnel of the Air Force, who won the great trust of Kim Jong Un, pledged to fully consolidate their air operations combat capability under the slogan "We only wait for the Party’s order to make a sortie!" and thus fulfill their honourable mission as the army of lifeguards of the Party Central Committee and the first death-defying corps for defending the revolution.
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Visits Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri on the Occasion of Third Anniversary of Demise of Hyon Chol Hae Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, visited the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri on May 18 on the occasion of the third anniversary of the demise of Hyon Chol Hae who was a prominent military and political activist of our state. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un laid a flower before his grave, recalling the memory of the revolutionary comrade-in-arms who devoted himself to the glorious struggle for accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche with genuine communist traits, noble human feeling, wide-ranging knowledge and unyielding execution abilities. He paid silent tribute to the memory of Hyon Chol Hae, a true son of the DPRK and a model of steadfast revolutionaries and patriots. Recalling him, Kim Jong Un said: “Still vivid in my memory is Comrade Hyon Chol Hae, who was always with the great General Kim Jong Il. He was the shadow of the General. He remains in all our memories as a model military and political official, highly principled and outstanding in political abilities and organizational skills, and as a paragon of true human, always unceremonious and easy, unaffected, steadfast and upright. He will live forever in our minds, always reminding us of the General’s era and encouraging us in our sacred struggle for a great victory.” He prayed the noble spirit and distinguished feats of Hyon Chol Hae, who remained steadfastly loyal to the Party and the revolution all his life, would shine forever on the highest platform of honour and dignity. Before the monument to martyrs at the cemetery he paid high tribute to the martyrs who devoted their precious lives to the eternal prosperity and future of the country.
Japan's Move of Turning Archipelago into Huge Powder Magazine is Suicidal Act of Dashing toward Second Defeat Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- Kim Ryo Won, an international security analyst of the DPRK, issued the following article "Japan's move of turning the archipelago into a huge powder magazine is a suicidal act of dashing toward the second defeat": Recently, the military buildup of Japan, a war criminal state, has entered a grave phase day by day amid the frequent geopolitical crises of raising concerns about the outbreak of a new great war in the world. According to media, Japan is planning to conduct a test-fire of a ship-based electromagnetic gun, an ultra-modern weapon system that continuously launches shells at hypersonic speed by using electromagnetic power, in the near future. Japan, which started the developing of the electromagnetic gun in 2016, conducted the world's first test-fire of ship-based weapon with a small prototype in 2023 and is going to conduct the test-fire with a prototype for actual war this time. Japan is making self-estimation that the electromagnetic gun is a "game changer in the battlefield", saying that it is effective both in making an attack on targets on the ground and in the sea and air and in missile defense. At the same time, Japan is openly revealing its military confrontational attempt to use the electromagnetic gun to intercept supersonic weapons of the DPRK and the neighboring countries in the future. The appearance of electromagnetic gun, which will be positioned as one of the core means of attack under the guise of "defense", clearly shows that Japan is turning the archipelago into an exhibition venue for various kinds of missiles and a test ground for ultra-modern weapons while getting more undisguised in its attempt at preemptive attack than ever before. Japan has informally arranged the time and place of deployment of type 12 surface-to-ship guided missile with a range of about 1 000 km and high-speed gliding projectile, a hypersonic weapon, which have already passed through the test-fire stage, and is stepping up the development of a new-type ballistic missile with a range extending 3 000 km and a ground-launched long-range precision guided missile. On the other hand, it has completed the plan for forming the surface-to-sea missile unit of the ground "Self-Defense Force" and is trying to openly conduct missile launching drill in Hokkaido, the doorstep of the neighboring countries, in the coming June breaking the precedent of conducting it outside the archipelago due to the principle of "exclusive defense". It is also trying to introduce medium-range air-to-air missiles, air-to-surface long-range cruise missiles and Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles from the U.S. and deploy them for actual war and, not content with this, to jointly produce medium-range air-to-air missile AIM-120 with the U.S. Japan is hell-bent on developing new-type ultra-modern offensive weapons such as electromagnetic guns as well as the possession of long-range strike means. This is aimed at enhancing and expanding the utility of preemptive attack directly targeting the DPRK and the neighboring countries and thus realizing at any cost the old ambition of the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere", which has not been achieved, by plunging into a new war of aggression at any time. Depending on who holds the sword, its character and mission will radically change into a treasured sword for defending peace or into a weapon for aggression. It is as clear as noonday what disastrous catastrophe will be brought about on this planet if the weapons of mass destruction fall again into the hands of Japan, a war criminal state which stained the vast Asia-Pacific region with blood and inflicted an indescribable war disaster on mankind in the last century. The Japanese defense chief recently proposed to the U.S. Secretary of Defense an extremely dangerous initiative that Japan, the U.S., Australia, the Philippines and the ROK should strengthen military nexus, regarding the area centered on the East Sea and South Sea of China and the Korean peninsula as "a theater of war." This makes it easy to sense Japan's sinister aggressive attempt to launch reinvasion by creating military imbalance and a new conflicting structure in the region. Various kinds of military moves of Japan to revive the vicious "great Japanese empire" free from the political and military fetters of the defeated nation by taking advantage of the trend of change in the global geopolitical structure while advocating the "severe surrounding security environment" urgently demand that the DPRK fully stockpile the stronger overwhelming power to deter it. The reckless military buildup of Japan, a war criminal state, to make a preemptive attack on nuclear weapons states while turning the archipelago into a huge powder magazine will be a suicidal act of dashing toward the second defeat.
Spokesperson for DPRK Foreign Ministry Issues Press Statement Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea issued the following press statement titled "The U.S. should stop offending the DPRK with unnecessary and inefficient malicious provocations" on Friday: Recently, the U.S. Department of State committed a political provocation of re-designating the DPRK as an "uncooperative state in combating terrorism" under the pretext of not joining in its "anti-terrorist efforts." Such unilateral and malicious designating campaign staged by the U.S. every year should be duly denounced and rejected by the international community as it is a smear stratagem to brand the independent sovereign states as "state sponsor of terrorism" and make them targets of international criticism. The "anti-terrorism" advocated by the U.S. is nothing but an excuse to justify interference in internal affairs of other countries and the overthrow of their social systems and in fact, the countries designated by the U.S. as "uncooperative state in combating terrorism" are becoming the main targets of the U.S. hostile policy and military threat, the expression of the most heinous state-sponsored terrorism. No one has asked the U.S. to lead international anti-terrorist efforts, nor has anyone invested it with such power. "The Declaration on Measures to Eliminate International Terrorism" and other international laws adopted at the 49th session of the UN General Assembly branded the acts of threatening friendly relations between states and of encroaching upon the territorial integrity and security of a state as crimes and clearly stipulate that the struggle against international terrorism should be waged under the UN Charter and other international laws. This proves that the U.S. illegal and unjust hostile acts against the DPRK and other sovereign states are the most serious political violence as well as state-level terrorism. It is the consistent stand of the DPRK to resolutely oppose all forms of terrorism threatening international peace and security, but the so-called "anti-terrorist efforts" of the U.S., recognized as a synonym for interference in internal affairs and acts of aggression against independent countries, are irrelevant to the DPRK's will against terrorism. Before dealing with someone's "cooperation" in the issue of "anti-terrorism", the U.S. had better face up to the present situation of the DPRK-U.S. relations which have been fixed as the one between states thoroughly hostile to each other due to the U.S. unilateral and wrong doings. The more the U.S. provokes the DPRK with unnecessary and inefficient malicious acts, the further it will escalate the irreconcilable hostility between the DPRK and the U.S. The DPRK will never tolerate any outside attempt to impair and violate the dignity, sovereign rights and security interests of the state but take effective and proper measures to cope with the U.S. hostile provocations in all spheres.
