Nuclear Counterattack Simulation Drill Conducted in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- There took place on March 18 and 19 a combined tactical drill to substantially bolster the country's war deterrence and nuclear counterattack capability and let relevant units get familiar with the procedures and processes for implementing their tactical nuclear attack missions.
The combined tactical drill simulating a nuclear counterattack by the units for the operation of tactical nukes was carried out under the tense situation in which a large-scale war drill is being frantically scaled up by the U.S.-south Korean allied forces to invade the DPRK and U.S. nuclear strategic assets are massively brought to south Korea.
The drill also aimed to demonstrate our tougher will to make an actual war response and send a stronger warning to the enemy who expand their war drills for aggression and take a series of military actions strong in their offensive nature, getting undisguised in their explicit attempt to unleash a war against the DPRK in disregard of its repeated warnings.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, guided the combined tactical drill for nuclear counterattack.
The two-day combined tactical drill for nuclear counterattack was held, divided into an exercise for managing the nuclear strike control system, an actual training for switching to taking nuclear counterattack posture, and a drill for launching tactical ballistic missile tipped with a mock nuclear warhead.
On March 18, a drill was repeatedly held several times to reexamine the reliability of the operation system for the command and management over the tactical nuclear force in a multi-faceted way and to get familiar with the order of action and combat methods for promptly switching to a nuclear attack, while strictly examining in the light of security the accuracy of the procedures of issuing and receiving an order of nuclear attack under various simulated emergency circumstances, the order of handling nuclear weapons and the operation procedures for implementing different nuclear attack plans.
It was proved through the first-day drill that the whole process of preparing for a nuclear counterattack is working in a fast, strict, highly reliable and safe system.
A ballistic missile launching drill simulating a tactical nuclear attack was staged on Sunday morning.
The firing drill was observed by Minister of National Defence Kang Sun Nam and the combined unit chief in charge of commanding all the tactical nuclear operation units and commanding officers of missile units and sub-units under his command on the east and west fronts.
It was also watched by relevant officials of the Party Central Committee, commanding officers of the Missile General Bureau and relevant personnel of the Nuclear Weapons Institute.
Prior to the launching drill, there was an inspection of the normality of operation and stability of technical and mechanical devices, including the procedures for the final nuclear attack order authentication and the launch approval system, which was followed by a repeated training for getting familiar with relevant action procedures.
Then, a firing drill simulating a nuclear strike at a major enemy target was staged.
The missile was tipped with a test warhead simulating a nuclear warhead.
The tactical ballistic missile launched in Cholsan County, North Phyongan Province accurately exploded at 800 meters above the target waters in the East Sea of Korea set in its 800 km strike range, thus proving once again the reliability of the operation of nuclear explosion control devices and detonators fitted in the nuclear warhead.
The firing drill had no adverse effect on the security of the neighboring countries.
Expressing satisfaction at the drill, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the combined tactical drill greatly improved the actual war capability of the units and sub-units in charge of important fire assault duty and filled all sub-units with great confidence. The drill marked an important occasion in preparing our nuclear combat force to rapidly and accurately perform its crucial mission of war deterrence and securing war initiative any moment and under any unexpected circumstances, he added.
Saying that it is very important to continuously organize and conduct such drills under the simulated conditions of an actual war, he stressed the need to let service personnel get familiar with any unexpected circumstances and make them more perfectly prepared in their active posture of making an immediate and overwhelming nuclear counterattack anytime.
Noting that the DPRK cannot actually deter a war with the mere fact that it is a nuclear weapons state, he said that it is possible to fulfill the important strategic mission of war deterrence and reliably defend the sovereignty of the country, the peaceful life and future of its people and the cause of socialist construction only when the nuclear force is perfected as a means actually capable of mounting an attack on the enemy and its nuclear attack posture for prompt and accurate activation is rounded off to always strike fear into the enemy.
Saying that the present situation, in which the enemies are getting ever more pronounced in their moves for aggression against the DPRK, urgently requires the DPRK to bolster up its nuclear war deterrence exponentially, he set forth the important nuclear force-building orientation and the strategic tasks to be fulfilled in preparing the nuclear force for a war.
The nuclear force of the DPRK will strongly deter, control and manage the enemy's reckless moves and provocations with its high war readiness, and carry out its important mission without hesitation in case of any unwanted situation.
Press Statement of DPRK Vice Foreign Minister
Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- Kim Son Gyong, vice-minister for International Organizations of the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, issued the following press statement on Sunday:
The UN secretary-general made irresponsible remarks through his spokesperson taking issue once again with the DPRK's exercise of its just right to self-defence on March 17.
I strongly denounce and categorically reject the behavior of the UN Secretary-General Guterres who is adding fuel to the flames, far from helping easing the tension in the Korean peninsula and the region.
I am once again convinced that the persistent prejudice of the UN secretary-general on the Korean peninsula issue is not simply attributable to the lack of understanding and recognition but might be an expression of his natural mentality of being subservient to the U.S. for no reason.
Instead of acting as befits the chief of the UN, Secretary-General Guterres have behaved like a snip of the U.S. Department of State.
I think it is good for defusing tension and for himself that the UN secretary general remains silent rather than meddling in the Korean peninsula issue as now.
If the UN secretary general continues to avail himself of the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK despite the repeated advice of the DPRK, he will leave an indelible stain on his political reputation.
Availing myself of this opportunity, I strongly warn the U.S. and its followers against their sinister attempts to bring the legitimate self-defensive countermeasures of the DPRK for the discussion of the UNSC.
Press Statement of Director General for Int'l Organizations of
DPRK Foreign Ministry Issued
Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- Jo Chol Su, director general of the Department of International Organizations of the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made public the following press statement on Sunday:
The U.S. representative to the UN dared find fault with the DPRK at the meeting of the UN Security Council held illegally on March 17.
This time Thomas Greenfield, unaware of genuine human rights and elementary human ethics, revealed her shameful nature utterly devoid of logic and sound thinking.
The U.S. has brought the non-existent "human rights issue" of the DPRK for the discussion of the UN Security Council despite the opposition and concern of the righteous international community. This is a defamation of the UN Charter and a mockery of genuine human rights.
If the U.S. is so worried about the "human rights situation" in the DPRK, it should explain why it is so obsessed with the implementation of the most unethical sanctions against the DPRK in the world.
As for human rights, the U.S. should strictly judged by the international community for its human rights abuses as it leaves tens of millions of the colored people under the police suppression.
It is the customary act of the U.S. to move to the "human rights" arena and try to shake the socialist system chosen by the Korean people once there is nothing to do.
The U.S. held a vile anti-DPRK human rights confab despite the repeated warnings of the DPRK, selecting high-handed practices instead of human rights, and war instead of peace.
The U.S. moves to shake the DPRK by means of "human rights" will only boost the resentment of the Korean people, and the U.S. will only get irreversible security instability from it.
Though it is not sure when this boring action will end, the U.S. is surly making a wrong attempt.
Thomas Greenfield will deplore her position as a stooge and servant of the U.S. which is engrossed in interference in the internal affairs of independent sovereign state under the veil of "defence of human rights".
Press Statement of DPRK Permanent Mission to UN
Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- The permanent mission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the United Nations issued the following press statement on March 19:
Despite concern and objection of the international society aspiring to justice, the U.S. mobilized its followers and convened an unlawful ill-purpose meeting in the UN arena to discuss our non-existent "human rights issue".
The Permanent Mission of the DPRK to the UN defines the U.S.-waged base "human rights" pressure campaign as the flagrant violation of and a serious challenge to the dignity and sovereignty of the DPRK, and resolutely denounces and rejects it.
What deserves to be called to account at the UNSC is the U.S. atrocity against humanity - its invasion of sovereign states and massacre of innocent civilians in wanton violation of the universally accepted international laws including the UN Charter.
With its shocking record of human rights violations, the U.S. has already earned an ill-fame in the international history as a "striking" human rights violator. That such a country takes issue with "human rights" situation of other countries is indeed a mockery of and an insult to human rights itself.
It is already a public knowledge within the international society that the U.S. advocacy of "human rights protection" is only a cover for its ignominious identity as the world’s worst human rights violator, an instrument for interference in the internal affairs of the independent sovereign states to invade them and overthrow their systems in the long run.
The U.S. launched a "human rights" campaign against the DPRK in the UN arena while staging the aggressive joint military exercise which poses a grave threat to our national security, and by doing so, it betrayed the fact that its "human rights" maneuver serves as a mechanism for invading the DPRK.
The UN should never be misused as a political means of the U.S. to blackmail and apply pressure on independent sovereign states of its dislike whenever it pleases.
To ensure genuine global peace and stability, and to promote human rights, the UN member states should categorically reject the politicization, discrimination and selectivity of human rights and also raise their voices of justice against the high-handedness and arbitrariness of the U.S. and its followers that are committed on the pretext of "human rights".
The DPRK's will is strong and clear. It will counter the illegal "human rights" campaign by the U.S. and its followers with the most powerful means.
The DPRK will make every effort to safeguard the socialist system, dear to our people as their own lives, and protect the genuine people's rights against all hostile acts of the U.S. and its followers.
More Korean Young People Volunteer to Join and Rejoin Army
Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- The number of young people who have turned out in the campaign for defending the country is increasing with each passing day amid the surging resentment and hostility toward the U.S. imperialists and south Korean puppet traitors keen on reckless moves for igniting a nuclear war against the DPRK.
The number of young people who ardently volunteered to join and rejoin the Korean People's Army (KPA) is about 1.4 million across the country as of March 19.
The enthusiasm of the young people to join the army at worksites and schools across the country is a manifestation of the high spiritual world of the sons and daughters of heroic Korea who are determined to win a brilliant victory and honor in the struggle for defending the country and the revolution with ardent love for the country and the people and with severe hatred of the enemy.
There took place meetings in different parts of the country.
The patriotic young people pledged to mete out a merciless punishment to the enemies bringing the dark clouds of a nuclear war to hang over the land, crying out for "occupying Pyongyang", and to win victory in the great war for national reunification before anyone else.
More than 950 000 working youths from industrial establishments and farms including the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, the Sunchon Area Youth Coal Mining Complex, the Pyongyang Electric Cable General Factory 326 and the Okuk Farm in Anak County turned out in the struggle to defend the country at the risk of their lives and over 180 000 young people volunteered to join and rejoin the People's Army in North Phyongan Province alone.
This clearly shows that the immutable will of the young vanguard of Juche Korea to settle accounts with the aggressors to the last is surging up.
Students of universities and senior middle schools across the country expressed their determination to join in the struggle to smash the aggressors with arms in their hand as the children's guard did in the Fatherland Liberation War.
Hundreds of thousands of members of the Young Red Guards of senior middle schools across the country volunteered to join the KPA with a single will to wipe out the group of the heinous enemies who are trying to turn their beloved native places into the sea of flames.
The successors to the revolution and the younger generation who have hardened their faith and will to dedicate themselves to the country, revolution and socialism under the care of the Party are fully determined to advance southward and bring about epochal victory in the confrontation with the U.S. and south Korea at any cost if the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet traitors dare to ignite a war on the inviolable territory of the DPRK.
Courageous Mettle of Young People of the DPRK
The Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, held in December last year, advanced it as an important task for construction this year to erect a characteristic street, consisting of over 4 000 flats, at the northern gateway to the capital city of Pyongyang in the sidelines of construction of 10 000 flats in the city, and decided to entrust the whole project to the Socialist Patriotic Youth League and Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade.
As soon as the decision was made public, young people in Pyongyang and various other parts of the country, numbering over 100 000, volunteered for the project.
In his speech made at the groundbreaking ceremony for the project held on February 25, Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, said: I have no doubt that our young builders will create a dignified symbol of the development of socialism and its future, which will startle the world, at the northern gateway to Pyongyang by fully displaying the mettle of the Korean young people who are prepared to brave fire and water in response to the call of the Party and motherland and who love waging the revolution and working.
