Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Inspects Preparatory Committee for Launching Reconnaissance Satellite
Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- The non-permanent satellite- launching preparatory committee for launching the military reconnaissance satellite No. 1, which is composed of scientists and technicians of the DPRK Aerospace Development Administration, national defence scientific research institutes and universities and scientific research institutes at all levels of the DPRK, is pushing ahead with its work at the final stage amid an intensive campaign for bolstering up the self-defence capabilities to attain the major five-point goals for developing national defence capabilities set at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), guided the work of the non-permanent satellite-launching preparatory committee on the spot on May 16.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was greeted by leading officials of the Department of Munitions Industry and the Department of Science and Education of the Party Central Committee, members of the Aerospace Development Administration and the non-permanent satellite-launching preparatory committee.
After acquainting himself in detail with the work of the committee, he inspected the military reconnaissance satellite No. 1 which is ready for loading after undergoing the final general assembly check and space environment test.
He highly appreciated that the preparatory committee has fulfilled its duty and role in a responsible manner in the course of carrying out the important work for dramatically developing the military technology of the country.
To successfully launch the military reconnaissance satellite is an urgent requirement of the prevailing security environment of the country, a process of correctly implementing our Party and government's policy of bolstering up the defence capabilities on a top priority basis, and at the same time, a clear stride forward in developing the space military, science and technology of the country, he said, specifying the strategic goals to be attained continuously in the field of space research.
Repeatedly stressing the strategic nature of possessing military reconnaissance satellites, he said that the more desperately the U.S. imperialists and south Korean puppet villains escalate their confrontational moves against the DPRK, the more fairly, squarely and offensively the DPRK will exercise its sovereignty and just right to self-defence to deter them and defend the country.
He approved the future action plan of the preparatory committee.
Small Yet Big Platform
Practical educator who makes no concession in education—this is a unanimous evaluation of lecturers and students about Pak Mi Hwa, head of the math department of Education Faculty No. 2 at Pyongyang Teachers Training College.
With a hope and aspiration to become an educator just like her parents who dedicated their whole life to education, she graduated from Kim HyongJik University of Education in October Juche 86 (1997) and was assigned to Pyongyang Teachers Training College as she had wished.
From the first day of her career, she set a goal to possess high pedagogical qualifications and abilities and made strenuous efforts to this end.
In the course of this, she, a novice teacher, was highly appreciated at the first national presentation of intelligence education experience and received a certificate of new teaching method registration.
However, she did not rest on her success.
The following happened one day a few years ago after the assessment of students’ academic performances. At the entrance to the college she happened to see the rankings of her students on the notice-board. She fell into deep thought as some of them failed to receive full marks in the math exam.
Why do they differ in scholarly performance, though they received lectures in the same classroom and from the same lecturer? What’s the reason?
Several days passed, but her doubt remained undispelled.
Looking at her distressed face, her department head advised her to go to the hospital for a diagnosis.
At that moment, something came across her mind.
Diagnosis? What about finding out a method of diagnosing the reason for abnormal phenomena in scholarly performance? Then, it will naturally lead to the establishment of a scientific teaching method.
From that day, she buckled down to finding out a method for improving the students’ academic performance, though she way busy with lectures, guidance over extracurricular education and preparation of teaching plans.
She surveyed students’ scholarly records, experience of veteran educators and other data of relevant sectors while intensively studying the developing trends of modern education, psychology and pedagogy. She finally developed a scientific “diagnostic” method conducive to understanding the characters, tastes, concentration and psychology of students with poor academic performance and taking appropriate measures.
The method caused a great sensation not only among her colleagues but in the education sector.
Afterwards, she made more exacting demands on herself without resting on her laurels.
She wrote “Teaching methods of math at primary school” and other reference books instrumental in improving the practical ability of students and thus contributed to putting teaching contents on a practical, comprehensive and modern footing.
After being appointed as a department head, she made tireless efforts to ensure that the creation of new teaching methods and making multimedia served as an occasion for improving the qualifications of lecturers, and trained her colleagues to be the holders of academic degrees and model teachers. During his visit to the college on January 16, Juche 107 (2018), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un saw a reference book “Math exercise book” written by her and other lecturers and researchers. He spoke highly of the book as it was helpful to the intellectual development of pupils at primary schools, and had a photo taken with them.
She always says to her colleagues: The platform we stand on is not big, but we educators should make painstaking efforts to bring up reliable pillars who will shoulder the future of the country. Let us value every minute on the platform as our very life.
The country put her forward as one of the top ten teachers in 2022.
Sea Change Brought About in One Year
The Hwasong area in Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, has undergone a sea change in its appearance. Just in one year the area has turned into modern residential quarters with various shapes of super-high-rise and high-rise apartment houses, public buildings, neighbourhood-serving amenities and other facilities distributed for the residents’ convenience.
Construction of another 10 000 flats is in full swing now, following the first stage.
Pyongyang in Spring
Spring has come to Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and the city is ablaze with all colours of beautiful flowers. The pedestrians in the streets also glow with optimism, hope, joy and happiness, adding more to the brilliance and liveliness of the city.
