Press Statement by Spokesman for Korea Association for Human Rights Studies
Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korea Association for Human Rights Studies issued the following press statement on Saturday:
The UN Security Council, tasked to lead global peace, security and international justice, has turned into a theatre of human scum, yielding to the high-handed and arbitrary practices of a specified country.
On August 17, the UNSC, whose basic mission is to deal with the international peace and security issue, was transformed into a pseudo "human rights council" discussing the non-existent "human rights issue" of the DPRK.
The Korea Association for Human Rights Studies strongly denounces and rejects the UNSC for having haggled about the human rights situation in an individual country, wantonly abusing its authority specified in the UN Charter, pursuant to the U.S. and its vassal forces' sordid and despicable anti-DPRK "human rights" racket.
The U.S. has gravely violated the DPRK people's right to existence and development through its unprecedented unethical and barbarous policy of isolating and stifling the DPRK. It is an insult and infringement on the spirit of the World Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Charter that such a country brought the human rights situation of the DPRK to the UNSC.
If the UNSC truly cares about the well-being and rights of the Korean people, it must, first of all, call into question the anti-human rights and anti-peace acts of the U.S. which has threatened the sovereignty, security and interests of the DPRK, regarding hostility toward the DPRK as its state policy.
Arousing indignation is the fact that the UNSC took issue with the DPRK over its human rights situation, at the instruction of the U.S., the world's worst human rights abuser with the most shameful human rights records. Moreover, it is a shame that the UNSC, styling itself the top international political organ, took human scum, who fled after abandoning their homeland and parents, wives and children only to save their dirty lives, to its conference hall.
The U.S. "politely invited" the human scum who lost their worth as human beings to sit next to it, revealing by itself that it is no more than the poor human scum.
It is a well-known fact that "defectors from the north", praised and valued by the U.S. as "human rights fighters", are all the worst criminals, morally degenerated ones and swindlers.
Even now, the international community vividly remembers the fact that "Sin Tong Hyok", who ran amuck in the anti-DPRK "human rights" racket at the UN arena after betraying his country, parents and brothers and fleeing to the U.S., confessed eight years ago that he had distorted his past for a petty amount of money, thus showing the falsehood of "testimony of defectors from the north" all over the world.
The DPRK people know well about their human rights situation and they make a right appraisal of it by themselves.
Nothing is more serious miscalculation than to think that they can cover, with the absurd lies of a few human scum, the voices of tens of millions of people who regard the pain of others as their own, help and lead each other forward, work hard with love for their life and optimism about the future and enjoy genuine human rights.
The UNSC is no more than a private dictatorship organization and an anti-human rights plot-breeding one of the U.S. as it is pulling up the genuine human rights situation of a sovereign state, disregarding such truth.
The U.S. should be mindful that it is not the only one able to slander the human rights situation in a country by employing an individual person.
On this planet, there are more people who spit in the American-style human rights than those who think good for them. And many people are displeased with the U.S. society which is turning into the tundra of human rights, due to the ignorance and incompetence of the U.S. corrupt ruling forces.
It will be easier to find people who have something to say about the U.S. miserable human rights situation in New York, where the UN headquarters is located, than to find a rubble on the road.
Ensuring genuine human rights is inseparable from the defence of the national sovereignty.
It is the top priority in ensuring human rights in the DPRK to thoroughly defend the independent rights and interests of tens of millions of the Korean people from the illegal hostile and existent threat of the U.S., empire of evils.
We will never tolerate the anti-DPRK "human rights" smear campaign of the U.S. and its followers but defend in every way the sovereignty, socialist system, security and interests of the DPRK, the cradle of the genuine life for tens of millions of popular masses.
Statement by Spokesman for KPA General Staff
Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the General Staff of the Korean People's Army (KPA) issued the following statement on August 18:
On August 17, the U.S. intruded a strategic reconnaissance plane into the air above the economic zone of the DPRK side on the East Sea of Korea to commit air espionage again.
The strategic reconnaissance plane of the U.S. forces made a repeat circuitous flight above the sea 520 km east of Wonsan and 430 km east of Tanchon from 5:38 a.m. to 6:37 a.m. on August 17 and intruded into the economic water zone of the DPRK side to a maximum depth of 14 km three times to conduct espionage on the eastern and in-depth areas of the DPRK.
This is a dangerous military provocation made in a matter of 20 days after the U.S. strategic reconnaissance planes illegally intruded into the economic water zone of the DPRK side on July 28 to commit espionage.
Under such situation, the KPA General Staff promptly gave an order to pursuit planes of the Eastern Anti-Air Force Division to make an emergency sortie toward the air space intruded by the U.S. strategic reconnaissance plane and carry on an alert guard duty.
The U.S. strategic reconnaissance plane retreated at around 7:15 owing to the countermeasures taken by pursuit planes of the KPA.
The KPA pursuit planes had carried out an alert guard duty to frustrate any reattempt by the U.S. strategic scout plane until 9:00 a.m.
As regards the enemies' repeated provocative air espionage, the KPA General Staff is examining an operation plan to check the U.S. strategic reconnaissance planes' illegal intrusion in the controversial air space and take a complete and thorough defence measure by constantly deploying a ship loaded with new-type anti-aircraft missiles in the line of 450 kilometers away from Wonsan, the economic water zone of the DPRK side.
We have already clarified that the sky above the economic zone on the East Sea of Korea is a part of the DPRK's territorial air where our sovereignty is thoroughly exercised.
The KPA will not hesitate to take any physical counteraction to defend the sovereignty of the DPRK.
British Judicial System On the Brink of Collapse
According to the recent crime statistics, more than 2.3 million criminal cases remain yet open for one year since last April.
The UK’s Labour Party said that only 5.8% of the total criminal cases last year were closed, leaving more than 90% unsolved. Britain has never been all the better for criminals, who do not have to worry about punishment at all, it lamented, admitting that the British criminal and judicial system is on the verge of complete collapse.
The Conservative Party has set a “horrible record” in the judicial field; connivance at the crimes without prosecution for too long has led to a gradual decrease in the number of reports by the victims, who take it for granted that they cannot anticipate any legal protection from the government, said the Home Secretary of the Shadow Cabinet.
The Home Secretary then declared commitment to filling up the insufficient manpower in the criminal and judicial field nationwide if the Labour Party wins the next general election.
On the other hand, it appalled the public that many policemen themselves are reported to be offenders of such crimes as sexual assaults and domestic violence.
The policemen and staff of the Metropolitan Police, the biggest police organization in the UK were increasingly found to have committed or involved in such crimes as sexual assaults against children or minors, domestic violence and worse still, rape, wrote the UK Newspaper Metro in January and March.
The Observer also published an article that the number of police involved in crimes in England and Wales increased by 590% during the last decade, reaching 1,387 in 2022 alone. Sky News revealed that a criminal who had committed dozens of crimes misusing the privilege of a policeman has served as a policeman unpunished and blamed police authorities for conniving at them.
Media and experts warn that the UK’s judicial system is on the brink of collapse, exposing one after another the police corruption that help policemen escape penalty for all crimes they have committed through squandering a staggering sum of money, instead of handing out harsh punishment to them.
Development of Children’s Intellectual Faculty in the DPRK
These are children at the Changjon Nursery in Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Nursery children in the country develop their intellectual faculty receiving from their teachers education in various recreational activities, abacus and artistic skills.

Old People’s Homes in the DPRK
In the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea it is a social climate to respect and give preferential treatment to the elderly. There are old people’s homes in the capital and provinces of the country. The Pyongyang Old People’s Home with a history of about 70 years was rebuilt in 2015 on the bank of the picturesque Taedong River. The elderly enjoy their remaining years, tending vegetable plots and flower gardens, reading books in the library, doing exercises in the fitness room and seeing movies. They are provided by the state with everything they need, to say nothing of foods and clothes. The old people’s home is equipped with modern medical facilities.
