Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Inspects Regional-industry Factories Nearing Inauguration
Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- This year has witnessed the proud and epochal achievements in the regional construction, which made another leap forward in ensuring modernity, economic profitability and prospect with a goal of reaching a level set higher than last year, according to the far-reaching regional development strategy of the great Workers' Party of Korea.
Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected regional-industry factories in several counties nearing inauguration on December 3.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Jo Yong Won and Pak Jong Chon, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee.
First, he went round the regional-industry factories in Sinyang County, South Phyongan Province.
He was greeted on the spots by the commanding officers of the army units involved in the construction, officials of design institutes, senior officials of the Party and power organs in Sinyang County and officials of the regional-industry factories.
He went round the production, cultural and welfare facilities of the foodstuff factory, garment factory and daily necessities factory in the county one by one to learn in detail about their construction and preparations for operation.
Saying that he could see the level of construction and technical equipment of the construction units has remarkably improved as compared with last year, he expressed satisfaction over the fact that lopsidedness has been definitely decreased and the level of balance and specialization increased in the whole construction process.
Noting that the evaluation of the quality of construction depends on the final construction, he indicated the orientation and ways for the construction units at all levels to radically raise the level of specialization and delicacy in the final construction.
He said that there might be difficulties as healthcare facilities, leisure complexes and others are expected to be added to regional construction projects from the coming year but the People's Army has tremendous potentiality for creditably guaranteeing the implementation of the Party's policy on regional development and will powerfully lead the regional construction revolution to a steady victory with its rich experience and heated enthusiasm for struggle.
Saying that modern regional-industry factories have been built in 40 cities and counties in less than two years since the regional-industry revolution started, he noted this represents the eye-opening regional changes. The rural construction and regional-industry construction are a gigantic revolution intended to fundamentally improve the quality of the people's living and lay the material and technical foundations for the independent development of the cities and counties, he said, underlining that we are right now passing through the most responsible and important historic period of transition.
He pointed out some deviations revealed in the construction of regional-industry factories and set forth some important tasks for operating the factories, normalizing their production and accommodating the inhabitants.
He inspected regional-industry factories in Pukchang County, South Phyongan Province.
Referring to the inconsistency in architectural and process designs in the construction of a foodstuff factory, he said that the irrational changes were made in contrast to the original design leading to the re-construction, which was attributable to the lack of proper guidance system and functional system to rectify such deviations in time.
In order to ensure high quality in construction as required by the drive for modernization and standardization and perfectly build factories as entities immediately demonstrating our style of civilization and development, it is necessary to establish a more thorough system of tripartite consultation between design, construction and management units, put construction on a scientific and integrated basis and steadily increase the proportion of dry construction in the building of industrial facilities and encourage it, he said.
Noting that the regular production and supply of various consumer goods basic and essential for the people's livelihood is the most important task in carrying out the Party's policy on regional industry, he put particular emphasis on the need to increase the number of varieties of specialties preserving the characters of regional areas and improve the quality of daily necessities.
He said that it is important for the whole Party and the state to pay attention to the development of regional economy, organize regional products shows every year and conduct significant reviews and appraisals of them so that regional-industry factories develop through competition.
Saying that the People's Army was assigned the historic task of regional changes and this is an expression of the noblest trust of the Party, the revolution, the era and the people in it, he expressed expectation and belief that the officers and men of the construction units would continue to give full play to the fighting spirit and creative mettle peculiar to the revolutionary army in the vanguard of the cause of realizing the long-cherished desire of the WPK and the wishes of the regional people.
He visited the Unsan Paper Factory newly built in Unsan County, South Phyongan Province.
He was greeted by Ri Kyong Chol, chief secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, and officials concerned and officials of the factory.
Saying that the paper factory has been built first in Unsan County of South Phyongan Province on a trial basis according to the Party's decision on setting up the modern paper factory in all provinces capable of satisfying their own demands, he stressed that the factory is of great significance in developing the Korean-style paper-making industry and satisfying the long-term nation-wide demands.
Looking at the multipurpose paper machine, the toilet-paper machine, the one for moulding paper into paper containers and others, all of which are associated with the pioneering spirit and creation enthusiasm of the scientists, technicians and workers, he said that it is really laudable that several enterprises of South Phyongan Province and the Paper Engineering Institute of the State Academy of Sciences are taking the lead in solving one of the problems which greatly concern the Party. He noted that he is pleased that the said institute has a clear prospective goal for developing our own paper-making method and technology. He extended praise and encouragement to the scientists and technicians at the institute.
In order to meet the demand for paper badly needed for all the fields, including science, technology, education and cultural life, it is necessary to steadily develop our own paper-making method and technology based on the raw materials in the country, he said, adding that all other provinces should more thoroughly discuss and decide on the issue of building modern paper factories within the period of next five-year plan on the basis of the experience gained by South Phyongan Province in building a model factory.
The inauguration season has come to review the results of the proud one-year creation and labour campaign which will be estimated by the people, he noted, stressing that all the new regional-industry factories should make perfect preparations for their operation before their inauguration ceremonies which are due to be held in December. And he gave some instructions to promote the regional development policy.
KCNA Report on Rapid Development of Agriculture
Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency released a report on Friday, detailing the successes in consolidating the material and technical foundations of agriculture and rapidly increasing the grain production after the declaration of the programme for the rural revolution in the new era.
All the officials, Party members and other working people, who turned out in the grand campaign for creation true to the programme for the rural revolution in the new era, made remarkable progress in irrigation construction, including the completion of paddy field irrigation projects covering more than 500 000 hectares which was planned by the Workers' Party of Korea, successfully attained the annual goal according to the plan for the development of farm machines and turned over 13 500 hectares of dry fields into paddy fields, the report said, and went on:
The Party's policy on pushing ahead with rice and wheat farming by boldly changing the structure of agricultural production has been implemented. As a result, scientific farming methods and their solid foundation have been established and the experience has been gained in revitalizing wheat production and the area under wheat cultivation has been increased by more than 30 000 hectares this year alone as against last year.
Amid the hot wind of scientific farming and high-yielding emulation, many more cities, counties, farms, workteams, sub-workteams and farmers have reported bumper harvests to increase the grain production, leading to over-fulfillment of the annual state grain production plans.
The historic Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK, which set forth the programme for the rural revolution in the new era, marked a turning point in developing the country's agriculture onto a stage of definite upswing by stepping up the rural rejuvenation and providing a milestone for victory for the rapid development of Korean-style socialist countryside.
Whenever the plenary meetings of the WPK Central Committee were convened, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth the tasks and ways for steadily increasing the agricultural production of the country and took decisive measures to enlist the entire Party, the whole country and all the people to turn out in the campaign to give full manpower and material support to the countryside.
The material and technical foundations of agriculture have been further strengthened amid the intensified drive to implement the Party's programme for the rural revolution in the new era.
A nationwide struggle was waged to repair, reinforce and further perfect the irrigation system of the country.
In 2023, the first year when irrigation construction started at full speed, irrigation projects for more than 200 000 hectares of fields were successfully completed, including the construction and capacity expansion of groundwater facilities in more than 12 000 places, the construction of over 3 000 pumping stations and the laying of over 2 400 km of pipelines.
In 2024, irrigation facilities for over 60 000 hectares of fields were renovated in the drought-stricken areas to provide a guarantee for high and safe yields despite drought and high temperature.
Officials, working people and builders across the country completed the construction or the repair of over 1 300 pumping stations, the building or the overhaul of over 1 100 irrigation structures and the repair of over 17 000 kilometers of waterways and thus completing irrigation projects for more than 160 000 hectares of paddy fields and turning over 3 300 hectares of dry fields into paddy fields this year alone.
The work to radically increase the proportion of farm work done by machines was conducted to achieve unprecedented successes in realizing the comprehensive mechanization of agriculture.
The farm machine production units which have been modernized under the care of the Party have increased production.
With the expansion of successes since the first year of implementing the programme for the rural revolution in the new era, nearly 43 000 farm machines were secured in 2023 and the varieties of farm machines increased considerably last year, too.
This year alone, the varieties of farm machines have increased to more than 50 kinds and the proportion of farm work done by machines increased by more than 2 percent over the previous year.
Officials and working people in the agricultural sector turned out as one in attaining the grain production goal set by the Party.
Agricultural guidance organs at all levels have designed and carried out farming operations and guidance according to all farming processes in a scientific way.
The scientific farming promotion team has strengthened its role to support increased grain production by dint of science and technology.
A vigorous struggle was waged in different parts of the country to expand the area under wheat cultivation and raise its productivity.
Amid the deep interest and great enthusiasm of the whole country and society for wheat farming, the area under wheat cultivation has more than doubled in the past four years.
With the structure of grain production and farming methods changing and wheat production growing rapidly, many farms produced high yields in 2023, and in 2024 the national wheat production plan was over-fulfilled by more than 140 percent and more than 100 farms produced over 6 tons of wheat per hectare.
This year, 11 farms and over 170 workteams have produced more than 8 tons of grain per hectare on an average thanks to the efforts of agricultural officials and working people to harvest high yields in the farming of early crops this year.
The state grain production plan has been over-fulfilled since 2023 thanks to the struggle of the officials and working people in the agricultural sector who have turned out in attaining the goal of grain production.
In 2024, hundreds of thousands of tons of grain were produced more across the country as against 2023 as a result of the campaign for simultaneous and balanced development of all the regions and farms.
The proportion of the introduction of nutritive cold-bed seedlings has increased considerably throughout the country and advanced farming methods have been widely applied, leading to increased grain production.
In hearty response to the Party's policy, a struggle was waged across the country to introduce the method of organic farming through fish farming.
Thanks to the great vitality of the new agricultural policy of the WPK, more than 30 high-yield cities and counties were produced this year and many other units became high-yield farms, high-yield workteams and high-yield sub-workteams.
The news of the bumper harvest and year-end account settlement and income distribution in the socialist rural areas good to live and work in along with the new era of rural rejuvenation, is adding to the pleasure of the people across the country.
The stable agricultural foundation of the country which are steadily developing day by day and the increased grain production have convinced officials and working people once again that the Party's policy is science, truth and victory and that everything will go well if they follow only the Party's policy.
