Happy Mothers in DPRK

Today is Mother's Day in the DPRK.

To show respect for mothers and praise their maternal love, many countries in the world have designated and celebrate the Mother’s Day with great significance.

Mother’s Day is designated differently in every country. The way of celebrating it also differs from each other. However, there is one common aspiration. That is; on this day, the sons and daughters show their highest respect for and the deepest gratitude towards their mothers who brought them to the world and raised them with love and care.

In our country, November 16 is designated as the Mother’s Day. The whole country is in the jolly good mood of celebrating it when this day comes every year.

On this day, we can read on the faces of our mothers the immense pride and endless joy of being the Korean women who enjoy dignified life generation after generation under the loving care of peerless great men.

10 years ago, in 2012, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un proclaimed November 16 as the Mother’s Day. It was the day when President Kim Il Sung made a historic speech “The Duty of Mothers in the Education of Children” at the 1st National Meeting of Mothers. And Comrade Kim Jong Un saw to it that a grand conference was held on the occasion of the first Mother’s Day.

With the significant conference approaching, he also took measures to confer the title of Labor Hero - the greatest honor of a citizen - to the mothers who gave birth to and brought up many children to be excellent heirs to the nation and revolution, and also to the mothers who made noteworthy contributions to the patriotic struggle for social development.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un also saw to it that not only the mothers who gave birth to many children but also the mothers who are raising children without parents, wives of army officers, labor innovators and other exemplary mothers were chosen as representatives to the conference. He also gave meticulous guidance on fixing up their place of stay, lest the representatives suffer discomfort during the period of the conference.

Particularly, reading the innermost thoughts of representatives with infants, he also took unprecedented measures to set up a nursery in the place of stay and to send nurses so that they could stay with their own children even during the period of the conference.

Though respected Comrade Kim Jong Un had a busy time leading the overall work of the Party and the State, he met with the participants in the conference and gave them encouragement saying that our Party and people are honored to have such great mothers. He also expressed his expectation and conviction that all mothers and women in the country would display the honor of female revolutionists and flowers of the era. Then he had a photo session with them that would be handed down generation after generation.

Not a few politicians in history made efforts to ensure the rights of women.

But none of them had raised the dignity and status of women to such a highest stage as our Marshal who attached great importance to women’s social status and role and organized the national conference so that mothers, under the attention of the Party and the State, could greet Mother’s Day with all blessings of the country.

Mothers in the DPRK, who are leading a dignified life under the tender loving care of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, find their greatest pride and happiness in bringing up their children to be the genuine patriots who devotedly serve the society, collective, country and people rather than just take care of their own family affairs.

Free Medical Care System Born in the Flames of War

In November 1952, 70 years ago, world people were filled with wonder when the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) promulgated the decree to introduce the universal free medical care system at the height of the Fatherland Liberation War.

It was hardly conceivable that our Republic, which was still in its cradle, could introduce the universal free medical care system amidst the flames of the grim war when it had to face the formidable aggressive forces of the U.S. imperialists, the armies from its 15 vassal states, the puppet army of south Korea and Japanese militarists which were attacking us, even using the bacteriological weapons.

President Kim Il Sung, who regarded people as heaven and took an ardent love for them as his natural disposition, made up his mind to adopt a people-oriented health policy to give free medical care to all the people at state’s expense even at a difficult time of the war when we had to fully mobilize the country’s manpower and material resources. He also gave step-by-step guidance to this work.

On January 20, 1952, while reading a document related to atrocious bacteriological warfare of the U.S., President Kim Il Sung said to the officials concerned as follows: Our people are dedicating themselves to win the war both at the frontlines and the rear area. They even lay down their lives for this. Nothing can be spared for such patriotic and self-sacrificing people. Nothing is more precious than the lives of our people. We need to bring the universal free medical care system into effect for all people.

Some people expressed their concerns. They proposed to postpone the free medical care system citing the cash-strapped situation of the country. However, President Kim Il Sung, though he was very busy taking the helm in the struggle for the final victory in the war, solved all the difficult problems arising in the preparation for the introduction of the universal free medical care system and gave wise guidance on this task so that it can be carried out without any deviation.

He then reviewed in detail the cabinet decree on introduction of the universal free medical care system which was to be promulgated to the world.

Thanks to the fervent love and devotion of great President, DPRK cabinet decree No. 203 “On Enforcing Free Medical Care System for the People” was promulgated on November 13, 1952.

When the cabinet decree was promulgated in the DPRK, the heroic country in the flames of war, the world media vied each other to report that the U.S. is devastating the DPRK with carpet-bombing, but the DPRK is striking the U.S. in the face with bomb “No. 203”, which is equivalent to 10 atomic bombs.

Like this, the free medical care system was born in the flames of war. This was a historic event brought by the ardent love of great President who was prepared to even pick a star from the sky if it were for people, regarding them as the most precious beings in the world.

KCNA Commentary Slashes Japan's Moves against DPRK and Chongryon

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are getting more hell-bent on the moves against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

Distorting the truth about ballistic missile test-fire conducted by the DPRK under its regular weapon development program at the beginning of this month, the Japanese reactionaries have incited military tension and aroused the anti-DPRK public opinion through media while setting in motion the nationwide patrol alert system in different regions of Japan.

They more evidently revealed their hostility toward the DPRK by taking an active part and the lead in the dangerous military maneuvers such as the U.S.-south Korea preemptive nuclear attack drills against the DPRK.

At U.S.-Japan-south Korea foreign ministers' meeting and meeting of their chairmen of chiefs of joint staff in February and March last, Japan actively proposed the enforcement of U.S.-Japan-south Korea joint military exercises in the vicinity of the Korean peninsula. Accordingly, it dispatched Aegis destroyer Asahi of its Maritime "Self-Defense Force" to the combined anti-submarine warfare drill staged in the East Sea of Korea around Tok Island on September 30 for the purpose of detecting and attacking the DPRK's submarines.

Shortly ago, the U.S. nuclear carrier task force on the way back to a port in Japan reentered the East Sea of Korea to be hell-bent on the U.S.-Japan-south Korea combined naval maneuvers. It has been recently disclosed that this was realized as Prime Minister Kishida gave a shot in the arm of the U.S. master.

On October 6, Kishida phoned the south Korean authority to urge the strengthened U.S.-Japan-south Korea military cooperation against the DPRK.

Moreover, the Japanese reactionaries offered a part of their archipelago to Vigilant Storm, the large-scale U.S.-south Korea combined air drill staged to directly target the DPRK, as a sortie base and thus revealed once again their intention to play a role in the moves for aggression on the DPRK.

It is the height of shamelessness for Japan to daringly describe the DPRK's regular military activities as "threat" and provocation", kicking up an anti-DPRK campaign.

Far from honestly admitting the past crimes and making an apology and reparation to the Korean people, the Japanese reactionaries do not conceal their scheme for invading Tok Island, an inviolable territory of the Korean nation, and the whole Korean peninsula.

Worse still, they are posing threat and blackmail even to Chongryon and Korean schoolchildren in Japan.

Recently, they have repeated vicious acts against Chongryon organizations and Korean residents in Japan by instigating right-wing gangsters, with twelve cases of threats, violence and revilement against Korean schools and students in Japan reported.

In particular, a vicious graffito "If one kills a Korean in Japan, one will be paid" was discovered at a railway station in Gunma Prefecture, where the Korean primary and middle school was delivered a monstrous chauvinistic document in the name of "the chief of the Gunma prefectural branch of the association for exterminating the Koreans in Japan".

The present situation of Japan, reminding one of the time of the great Kanto quake in the last century, has been clearly created due to the deliberate moves of the authorities to stamp out the DPRK and Chongryon. It is another grave political provocation to the DPRK and a disgusting, unethical and political act that can never be justified.

Clear is the aim sought by the Japanese reactionaries in getting frantic in their moves against the DPRK and Chongryon. It is aimed to instill into the Japanese people the extreme hostility toward and horror against the DPRK and Chongryon, and thus justify the moves for aggression on the DPRK and create a favorable situation for stepping up the work of turning Japan into a military giant.

The DPRK had already and solemnly clarified that the launch of a new-type ground-to-ground intermediate-range ballistic missile on Oct. 4 is a warning to the enemies to cope with the unstable situation prevailing on the Korean peninsula.

Whether this warning will lead to a real result or not entirely depends on the attitude of the hostile forces including Japan.

The Korean residents in Japan are full-fledged overseas citizens of the DPRK with invincible national power.

We regard the persecution and suppression of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan as a challenge and violation of the DPRK's dignity and sovereignty.

The Japanese reactionaries will have to pay a dear price for their hostile moves against the DPRK and Chongryon.

“Hacking Empire” Fusses About “Cyber Threat”

It has been reported that a so-called international conference on cyber issues was held in Washington, the United States from October 31 to November 1.

With regard to this, an official from the U.S. National Security Council made a nonsensical remark to a question raised by a journalist asking the motive for holding the meeting. He said that it is aimed at countering the cyberattacks from the DPRK, China, Russia, and Iran.

The cyberspace is a common asset of mankind. Ensuring its security is also common mission and responsibility of mankind.

Even in cyberspace, however, the U.S. adopts its bloc-forming policy which foments division and confrontation by rejecting and ostracizing the countries that have different political views from the U.S. in a bid to misuse the cyberspace for realizing its strategy for hegemony.

As it has already been known, the U.S. is a “hacking empire” and a “wiretapping empire” that has long been notorious for committing super-large cybercriminal acts i.e. the “Prism Plan” intended for wiretapping even the leaders of its allies and the “TV Screen Action” for launching hacking attacks on 45 countries and regions.

As released by the Danish media in May 2021, the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) hacked into the Danish internet and monitored the activities of the leaders of the European countries including Germany, France, Sweden and Norway.

Chinese National Emergency Center for Computer Virus revealed in 2021 that 53.1% of 42 million malwares exposed by it in 2020 were sourced from the U.S.

It also revealed that 19,000 out of 52,000 server computers controlling malwares that had been manipulating Chinese computers from abroad were found to be from America.

A report released in early 2022 disclosed that the NSA stole 97 billion global internet data and 124 billion phone logs from a remote place in only 30 days.

American newspaper “Washington Post” also carried an article in September saying that the U.S. army officials engaged in cyberspace are waging illegal cyber activities, i.e. describing Russia as “imperialism” on SNS in connection with the Ukrainian crisis.

This fact notwithstanding, the U.S, clamoring for “cyber threats” of others, held what it calls an international conference to deal with it. This is indeed a mockery of the international community.

The real purpose of the U.S. in kicking up a row about the “cyber threat” is to create an atmosphere and a condition for maintaining its supremacy in cyber space and enabling its cyberattacks like wiretapping and secret stealing to be conducted without a hitch.

The United States is truly a root of and main culprit behind cyber threat. To ensure security in cyberspace, we should first wipe out the cyber-criminal acts committed by the U.S., a “hacking empire”.

Toeing the US Line Makes Canada Blind

With regard to the military operation of our army in response to the US-south Korea joint air drill “Vigilant Storm”, Canadian foreign minister has reportedly issued a so-called “statement” to deplore it as a “threatening military action” and an “act of undermining the international security and peace”.

This is clearly a political provocation against our republic.

It is really surprising that the Canadian foreign minister, chief of diplomacy of a country, does not even have the basic understanding on the security.

The joint military exercise conducted by the U.S. is a grave military provocation detrimental to the peace and stability of the Korean peninsula and the region. This is a stark reality that nobody can refute. Accordingly, the counteraction to it is a legitimate and legal right of a sovereign country.

In the conducted war exercise, over 240 fighters and nuclear strategic bombers flew over the Korean peninsula, which are more than enough to conduct a full war. What we are still wondering about is this. Does this look like a “stunt flying” to the eyes of the Canadian foreign minister?

If we follow her logic, it comes to the conclusion that the US’s invasion of Canada in 1812, which was intended to occupy its whole territory was, to “defend” the peace and stability of the region and the corresponding legitimate self-defense of Canada was a “threatening military action”.

If one becomes a hardened follower of the U.S., he or she can even do the foolish act of tarnishing the history of motherland.

When a person turns to flunkeyism, he or she becomes an idiot and the nation which takes to flunkeyism falls into ruin.

If we explicitly speak once again, it is quite preposterous for Canada to say this or that about the peace and stability on the Korean peninsula as it had sent more than 26,000 mercenaries to the Korean War in 1950s, getting them involved in merciless killing of 3 million innocent civilians at the instigation of the U.S.

Canada should not blindly toe the U.S. line and pick on us like today. It would rather be better for Canada to make a right judgement of the situation on the Korean peninsula with an objective view and independently adopt a policy towards the DPRK.
