Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Receives Russian Foreign Minister

Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), received Sergei Lavrov, foreign minister of the Russian Federation, on a visit to the DPRK at the office building of the WPK Central Committee on Oct. 19.

Present there were Andrei Rudenko, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Alexandr Matsegora, Russian ambassador to the DPRK.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un had a happy meeting with Sergei Lavrov and warmly welcomed his visit to the DPRK before having a talk with him in an atmosphere of comradeship.

On the occasion, Sergei Lavrov courteously conveyed the warm greetings of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Kim Jong Un expressed deep thanks for it and sent the warm greetings of the WPK and the government and people of the DPRK to Putin and the fraternal Russian people.

He looked back with deep emotion on the meeting he had with Putin at the Vostochny Spaceport in September, leaving a remarkable trace in the history of the traditional DPRK-Russia friendship.

He expressed the steadfast stand of the WPK and the DPRK government to work out a stable, forward-looking, far-reaching plan for the DPRK-Russia relations in the new era by faithfully implementing the agreements made at the DPRK-Russia summit, and to promote the well-being of the peoples of the two countries and push forward with the cause of building a powerful state by dint of the said plan.

Exchanged in an open-minded manner at the talk were views on such important matters of mutual concern as the issue for the two countries to actively cope with the complicated regional and international situation on the basis of their solid political and strategic trust relations and expand in a planned way the bilateral ties in all fields through the joint efforts, and a consensus of views was reached.

The talk proceeded in a friendly and amicable atmosphere.

KCNA Commentary on U.S. Reckless Nuclear War Provocations

Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- The U.S. military provocations are now going on a more dangerous stage.

On October 17, the U.S. deployed air strategic assets including B-52 nuclear strategic bomber and F-22 Raptor stealth fighter in the region of south Korean puppets.

It is the first time that the U.S. core air combat force has been deployed in the Korean peninsula simultaneously and B-52, a typical strategic bomber of the U.S. air force capable of carrying nuclear weapons, landed in the puppet region.

All these U.S. air strategic assets committed provocations in the sky above the area near the Military Demarcation Line on the day and B-52 strategic bomber of the U.S. forces and F-35A fighters of the puppet air force staged even a large-scale joint air drill targeting the DPRK.

What merits a more serious attention is that the U.S. air force commanders including the commander of the U.S. Pacific Air Force and the commander of the 7th Air Force, together with their stooges including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the chief of the Air Staff of the puppet forces, appeared at the Chongju air force base where B-52 is landing on October 19 and made violent remarks about preemptive strike, saying that the deployment of nuclear strategic assets shows the firm will to implement their extended deterrence provision commitments and hints that projecting nukes to the north is possible in case of emergency.

Moreover, the U.S., Japan and the puppet forces are going to stage a joint air drill with the U.S. nuclear strategic bomber B-52 for the first time in history in the sky above the vicinity of the Korean peninsula from Oct. 22.

This is the intentional nuclear war provocative moves of the U.S. driven into a tight corner at home and abroad.

As everybody knows, the U.S. adventurous policy for realizing its hegemony strategy has faced bankruptcy due to disputes in Europe and the Middle East and their aftermath, and the internal affairs of the U.S. has gotten into utter confusion due to sharp conflict among domestic political forces.

The present U.S. administration's external influence and position are further decreasing due to new contradiction and discord among big powers and allies.

The U.S. seeks to pave the way for its resurrection in the Korean peninsula, regarding the nukes of tyranny as an almighty solution, but such scheme can never be realized.

Whether the introduction of such nuclear strategic assets as nuclear submarine, carrier and strategic bomber while actually operating the nuclear war mechanism is a "cordial" to "pacify" the south Korean puppets in constant security uneasiness or is for the sinister intention to find a way out by escalating tension on the Korean peninsula, the armed forces of the DPRK have closely watched such introduction, regarding it as a grave military movement for preemptive nuclear attack aimed at physical removal of the DPRK.

The U.S. would be well aware that the Korean peninsula is technically at war and any strategic assets deploying in the enemy side's area become the first target to be destroyed.

The days had gone when the right to preemptive strike was "monopoly" of the U.S.

Now that the U.S. and gangsters of the "Republic of Korea" made a provocation for nuclear war against the DPRK, the DPRK will take corresponding option.

The closer and the bigger the target becomes, the more vividly it will look and face the more serious danger.

We remind once again that the DPRK enacted the policy of nuclear force, which allows the necessary procedures of action in case a nuclear attack on it was launched or it is judged that the use of nukes was imminent, and then specified it in the constitution.

The U.S. had better understand as soon as possible that its repeated misjudgment will bring earlier the critical moment for the American continent.

An irrevocable regret follows a reckless act.

KCNA Commentary on Japanese Politicians' Visit to Yasukuni Shrine

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) -- Politicians of Japan have continued to visit the Yasukuni Shrine.

On October 17, Prime Minister Kishida made a ritual offering to the shrine and the minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, ministers for Economic Security and Economic Revitalization, the speaker of the House of Councilors and other government officials and those of the Diet visited the shrine one after another and paid tributes to it.

On October 18, nearly 100 members of the "Meeting of Dietmen for Visiting the Yasukuni Shrine" thronged to the shrine in group to pay a tribute to the war criminals.

The shrine, which has served as an ideological and spiritual breeding ground of Japanese militarism for overseas aggression and expansion, is the citadel of Japan's aggressive and extreme nationalism and symbol of militarism.

The visit to it is a criterion for Japan to decide whether to break with the past and opt for peace or to go along the road of reinvasion as it shows the Japanese government's attitude towards the war of aggression.

However, Japan has formulated and put the visit to the shrine on a regular basis despite strong protest and denunciation by the international community. Its politicians have visited the shrine on the spring and autumn ancestral rite days, August 15 when Japan was defeat in the Second World War, the day when the Japanese imperialists provoked the Pacific War and other opportunities every year to call back the "spirit" of top-class war criminals who earned notorious fame in the war of aggression on the continent.

The war criminal state, which had inflicted indelible damage on mankind, is consoling and praising the soul of provocateurs and war criminals. This is an open war agitation act and an insult to the peoples in the afflicted countries and challenge to human conscience and international justice as it is an expression of praise for war crimes.

The ceaseless visits to the shrine clearly show the true picture of Japan, a war criminal state which has never changed its militarist constitution. Lurking behind them is its dangerous ambition to realize the old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" at any cost.

Far from feeling guilty of the past crimes, Japan, obsessed by revenge for its defeat, is trying to paralyze the soul of its people with poison of militarism through the shrine and incite the craziness for reinvasion in the whole society and finally drive the war chariot.

Nearly 80 years have passed since Japan's defeat and a century has changed, but militarism adapted with the dangerous trend of thought of all kinds, still pervades the contemporary Japanese society and xenophobia, hatred and national chauvinism are rampant.

This is the inevitable result from the infiltration of reactionary idea, the distortion of history and the moves to praise the past crimes which have been enforced by the reactionary forces of militarism.

Today, Japan, revived under the active patronage and support of the U.S. after its defeat in the war, has perfected the "legal foundation" for overseas aggression and fully betrayed its true colors as a war state possessed of the capability for preemptive attack on other countries.

Japan's expansion of military force has reached an uncontrollable phase.

The Japanese archipelago turned into an outpost and a sortie base for the U.S. war of aggression, and Japan is now pushing ahead with the deployment for action of long-range missiles capable of directly striking the DPRK, China and other neighboring countries, while openly crying out for the possession of long-distance striking capability.

Japan no longer refers to such words as "maintenance of the least self-defense force" and "exclusive defense" it had used as an adornment to deceive the world.

What should not be overlooked is that Japan seeks to get deeper involved in the issue of the Korean peninsula by taking an active part in the triangular military cooperation with the U.S. and south Korean puppets, while raising the "free and open Indo-Pacific initiative", an expanded version of the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere", to join such U.S.-led alliances as QUAD and getting frantic with overseas dispatch of its troops under various pretexts.

It is self-evident that Japan's reckless moves will lead to reinvasion sooner or later, and this is just a matter of time.

If the moves of Japanese reactionaries, oblivious of the lesson of history, are connived, the Korean peninsula and the region will get into the disaster of war and the world peace and security will be seriously threatened.

The final ruin is the terminal to be reached by Japan scheming to dominate other countries and nations and achieve its "prosperity" through aggression and war.

U.S. and West Criticized for Disturbing Global Peace and Security at 1st Committee General Debate of 78th Session of United Nations General Assembly

UN member states delivered statements recently, at the 1st Committee General Debate of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, clarifying their policy position on disarmament and international security.

During the debate, anti-imperialist independent countries raised their voices of criticism against the unjust behavior of the U.S. and the West that threaten global peace and security and destroy the foundation of international disarmament system while pursuing geopolitical confrontation and hegemony.

Russia strongly demanded that the U.S. withdraw nuclear weapons aimed at Russia’s strategic targets and abolish nuclear sharing arrangements with NATO, saying that the U.S. and NATO are giving a grave threat to Russia by accelerating modernization of nuclear weapons and frequently waging joint military drills simulating the nuclear weapon use program.

Russia revealed that the U.S., in particular, is straining the situation on the Korean peninsula by expanding and strengthening the scale and intensity of the joint military exercise, constantly deploying strategic assets and even inviting NATO. They also insisted that the purpose of the U.S.-Japan-south Korea tripartite military drill is to contain Russia and China in the end.

Meanwhile, China said that the revival of the cold war mentality in international security and the aggravation of geopolitical confrontation are having an impact over the strategic balance and stability of the world. They also indicated that the human society is being engulfed in unprecedented security risk as some countries, which have obtained advanced operation capability, are building a “technical barrier” in order to gain absolute military dominance.

China demanded that the specific countries refrain from conducting dangerous act of deploying nuclear weapons at the doorstep of other countries, strengthening nuclear deterrence and expanding nuclear sharing towards the Asia Pacific region and that the nuclear submarine cooperation of “AUKUS” be suspended as it constitutes a challenge to the international non-proliferation mechanism.

Iran maintained that the international peace and security are being further disturbed and the likelihood of nuclear war is growing exponentially as the U.S. and the U.K. are escalating nuclear arms race by constantly increasing their budgets for nuclear weapons programs, expanding their nuclear arsenals and lowering the threshold for possible nuclear weapon use.

Indonesia, on behalf of NAM countries, expressed grave concern over the U.S. Nuclear Posture Review and its National Security Strategy which goes against legal obligations and undertakings to accomplish the total elimination of nuclear arsenals and threatens international peace and security.

With regard to the recent armed conflict between Hamas of Palestine and Israel, Palestine scathingly criticized the double standard and selectivity of the West lamenting that the Western countries are deliberately turning their face away from the damage done to the Palestinian people while taking sides with Israel.

Media and experts unanimously commented that the General Debate of the 1st Committee of the UN General Assembly has become an occasion for the international community to level strongest criticism against the U.S. and the West which are undermining international disarmament system and destroying the cornerstone of international peace and security, being indulged in the hegemonic way of thinking and geopolitical confrontation.

Criticism Rises against U.S. and West Selectivity and Double Standards

At a recent conference of the 6th committee of the 78th session of the UNGA, there was a debate over the agenda item “Measures to eliminate international terrorism”. At the debate, criticism increased against such arbitrary and high-handed practices of the United States (U.S.) and the West as interfering in internal affairs of sovereign states, threat of use of force, and selective imposition of sanctions and double-standards in its application, creating a serious obstacle to international cooperation in counter-terrorism.

Cuba strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on the Cuban Embassy to Washington, and revealed the mean acts of the U.S. that have organized and financed different terrorist groups against Cuba and have committed the terrorist acts for the past decades.

China pointed out that some countries are resorting to selective counter-terrorism with ideological prejudices originated from geopolitical calculations, thus politicizing counter-terrorism and creating, in the long run, a serious obstacle to international cooperation.

Venezuela voiced its rejection of politically-motivated, reckless counter-terrorism perpetrated by the U.S. and the West and further rejected their unilateral publication of arbitrary lists that accuse States of allegedly “supporting terrorism”. Iran denounced all acts of terrorism that endanger the territorial integrity, social stability as well as regional and international security, and strongly demanded adherence to the principles of respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence in accordance with the UN Charter, in the field of counter-terrorism.

Saudi Arabia warned against the ulterior, politicized attempts to incite hatred, discrimination and hostility based on the differences in religion by linking Islam with terrorism in a far-fetched manner. It also sounded a note of warning against outrageous use of force, aggression and occupation by force starting from geopolitical interests. Cambodia called upon strict adherence to the principles of respect for the sovereignty and non-interference in domestic affairs in the international cooperation in counter-terrorism.

Meanwhile, Egypt, Laos, South Africa, Nigeria, Pakistan, Lebanon and other developing countries present at the meeting stressed that terrorism should not be equated with the legitimate struggle of peoples under colonial or alien domination and foreign occupation, for self-determination and national liberation and also clarified their common positions against acts of linking terrorism with religion, nationality and race. They resolutely denounced and rejected acts of use of force and military threats against sovereign states under the pretext of “counter-terrorism”, qualifying them as a political terrorism.
