Statement of Spokesman for DPRK Ministry of National Defence
Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK issued the following statement on October 4:
The U.S. Defense Department recently made public "2023 strategy for countering WMD", in which it termed China and Russia "pacing challenge" and "acute threat" and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) "persistent threat".
Such act of the U.S. military is another grave military and political provocation against independent sovereign states.
As for the "persistent threat", it is an expression most suitable for the U.S., the world's biggest WMD-armed state and the only criminal state that used A-bombs, which has labeled the DPRK as "enemy" and escalated unprecedented nuclear threat and blackmail against it since the last century.
This year alone, the U.S. staged the largest-ever joint drills, making a series of bluffing and foolish remarks such as "end" and "total destruction" of the DPRK. The U.S. also activated the conspiratorial mechanism for a nuclear attack on the DPRK according to its war scenario that made the use of nuclear weapons against the DPRK its policy.
The reckless moves of the U.S., which brought even a strategic nuclear submarine, equipped with nuclear warheads large enough to totally destroy one state, to the vicinity of the Korean peninsula, constitute the most serious WMD threat to destroy the whole world.
The world's biggest WMD threat just comes from the U.S.
Through the publication of the recent "2023 strategy for countering WMD", the U.S. has just revealed its dangerous intention for aggression to seriously violate the sovereignty and security of the DPRK and other independent sovereign states by threatening them with WMDs, and realize its wild ambition for seizing global military hegemony.
Such situation requires the DPRK's armed forces to strongly counter with powerful deterrence the ever-more reckless medium- and long-term threat posed by the U.S. seeking to use WMDs against the DPRK.
The historic 9th Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly newly stipulated in the Constitution of the DPRK the mission of the armed forces of the DPRK to defend state sovereignty, territorial integrity and rights and interests of the people, safeguard the socialist system and the gains of the revolution from all sorts of threats and guarantee peace and prosperity of the country with powerful military muscle.
The armed forces of the DPRK will remain faithful to its honorable militant mission newly specified in the supreme law of the DPRK in accordance with the unanimous will of all the Korean people, and will counter the U.S. imperialist aggressors' military strategy and provocations with the most overwhelming and sustained response strategy.
France Should Refrain from Disturbing Peace and Security in Northeast Asia: Analyst
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Ryu Kyong Chol, a researcher of the Korea-Europe Association, on Friday issued the following article "France should refrain from disturbing peace and security in Northeast Asian region":
France reportedly plans to send the patrol plane Falcon 200 to the waters near the Korean peninsula under the pretext of "monitoring illegal naval activities" in October.
In the light of the past history of France, in which it brought warships and patrol planes to the waters off the Korean peninsula to disturb peace, its recent decision is not so surprising but its poor plight is too deplorable as it seeks to raise its prestige by never missing the opportunity for supporting the U.S.-led racket for putting pressure on the DPRK every year.
France has dispatched its military forces to the waters near the Korean peninsula every year since 2019 under the pretext of implementing the UNSC anti-DPRK "sanctions resolutions". Such moves to escalate tensions are very dangerous.
Let us recall the case that broke out in October 2021 when the French patrol plane Falcon 200, which took off from the Futenma U.S. air base in Okinawa of Japan, flew over the East China Sea for the first time under the pretext of "monitoring illegal naval activities".
At that time, a Chinese naval frigate patrolling the waters sent a signal of requiring identification to the French patrol plane and a Chinese fighter jet contained it for 25 minutes. Commenting on such acute circumstances, security experts expressed concern that the regional military tensions have been aggravated since France announced the "Indo-Pacific strategy".
What should not be overlooked is that France, a permanent UNSC member state which is talking about world peace and security more often than any others, regards Japan, which is harboring a wild militaristic ambition, as a bridgehead for carrying out its strategy.
It is an extremely dangerous option for France to highlight its existence in the Asia-Pacific region even through military cooperation with Japan, a war criminal state.
Now that the military and political situation of the Korean peninsula is inching close to the brink of a thermo-nuclear war, due to the U.S. and its followers' hostile military acts, even France has poked its nose into making the touch-and-go situation more complicated and dangerous.
Such irresponsible behavior of France to interfere in the situation of the Korean peninsula and Northeast Asia, where interests of regional powers are inextricably intertwined, is no more than an extremely foolish act of plunging itself into a bottomless pit.
France, caught in trouble even in the African region, had better remind itself of the fact that it may face an unexpected and unwanted challenge for its patrol plane's reckless maneuvers in the Asia-Pacific region that has turned into a flashpoint.
France should cool its head heated with Cold War mentality and face up to the situation.
In different parts of this planet, the voices of justice against the extreme interference in the internal affairs by France, the former suzerain state, are getting stronger and the countries and forces opposed to its anachronistic foreign policy are increasing.
France should immediately stop the dangerous act of destroying peace and security of the Korean peninsula and the Northeast Asian region before it becomes too late, instead of copying someone, captivated by anachronistic "gunboat diplomacy".
And this will be useful to it.
It is a social and national custom for the Party and the state today in the DPRK to take full responsibility for and care of the life and health of the elderly and direct special attention towards them. The elderly in the DPRK are treated with respect as revolutionary forerunners, mentors and seniors. And they enjoy a happy life in good health filled with vigor even in their old age.
On the International Day of Older Persons each year, public catering establishments in Pyongyang and all other areas across the country are providing special festive treats for them. People visit their parents wishing them good health and longevity, and leading officials of the Party and the state visit the elderly in old folks’ homes. Possessing noble moral fidelity to the revolutionary forerunners, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un built beautiful old folks’ homes all over the country so that the elderly may spend the rest of their lives in leisure. He is now showing his great benevolence by taking measures allowing the elderly to enjoy worthy lives in their old age under special concern from the Party, the state and society.
In this year alone, three centenarians received birthday spreads from respected Comrade Kim Jong Un creating an atmosphere of rejoice across the nation. And under the keen interest of the state and society, a grand sports contest for the elderly was also held in autumn.
Such an atmosphere is prevailing in the society as to respect and provide preferential treatment to the revolutionary forerunners. The elderly of our country are enjoying worthwhile life for the rest of their days without any worries wearing happy smile and shedding tears of thanks for the love and care of our Party and often singing the song “Though Time Passes By” that praises their happy life enjoying the longevity in good health under the warm care of the Party.
There are elder people in all the countries of the world but no elderly spends their twilight years with the blessings of everyone as in our socialist country full of love, affection and faith.
The Japanese press media recently reported as follows: horrifying incidents beyond imagination take place ceaselessly in the country making the older persons shiver in apprehension and fear. A group of criminals was found to have defrauded the aged of their money; people treat cruelly and even kill their parents under the excuse of destitution, a staff of a home for the old people beat an old woman, etc.
In the meantime, the number of suicides continues to increase among the old people of the U.S. due to the difficult economic conditions, maltreatment by their own sons and daughters, mental disorder, and etc. And this gives rise to a serious concern of the community.
Grandchildren deprive money of their grandparents and use violence at all times; life after retirement is tantamount to a reprieve period - such lamentation spreads like a catch phrase, and this is the reality of the capitalist society.
Under the warm care of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the elderly in our country enjoy their life as ever-green pine trees, whereas the old people in the capitalist country spend their lives hopelessly as fallen leaves in the autumn. This happiness of the elderly in our country and the miserable life of the aged in the capitalist country are inevitable results brought about by the two totally distinct social systems.
These are night scenes of Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
