Sacred Journey Made by Chairman Kim Jong Il for People in 2011
Pyongyang, December 13 (KCNA) -- Regarding it as his lifetime motto to believe in the people as in Heaven, Chairman Kim Jong Il made ceaseless journey of devotion and loving care for them. He gave field guidance to many units to improve the people's standard of living in Juche 100 (2011), the last year of his revolutionary life, and made tireless efforts day and night.
The Chairman, who took the lead in the general advance toward the year 2012 marking the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung, was on a high-intensity forced march for field guidance to provide the people with a rich and civilized life till the last moments of his revolutionary life.
With his noble and great ambition to bring about a decisive turn in improving the people's standard of living by developing the light industry, he gave field guidance to leading large-scale chemical bases and light industrial establishments on dozens of occasions in that year alone.
He had continued his field guidance to all parts of the country including farms, livestock and fish farming bases.
Looking round the 2nd Commodity Exhibition at Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 in the hot weather of July, he gave important guidelines for developing the light industry. He also visited the Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute and the Pothongmun Street Fish and Meat Shop and showed great love and trust in their officials and employees so that they could do more work for the people.
Seeing flowers in full bloom at greenhouses of the Pyongyang Floriculture Institute, he called for building more flower shops. He even tasted the noodle and dish at a noodle house in a mine village, thinking of the pleasure of the people.
Thanks to his devoted efforts, the people's laughter and songs resounded far and wide at the Central Zoo, the Amusement Park of the Kaeson Youth Park and other cultural and emotional bases.
In December, too, he, though being in a bad state of health, visited the Hana Musical Information Centre and the Kwangbok Area Supermarket with great satisfaction and took a benevolent measure for supplying tasty fish to the citizens of the capital city.
The year 2011, when the peerlessly great man made a high-intensity forced march for the good of the people, was the one of devoted service for the people comprehensively showing his sacred revolutionary career for the people.
From Ordinary to a Guinness World Record
The 27th World Memory Championship was held in Hong Kong, China in 2018 where a girl took the 1st place in the events of face and name memory, and a 15-minute random word memory. And she was awarded with the prize of International Grand Master of Memory which is the top prize of the championship. She put to her memory a record high 302 random words in 15 minutes. Thus, she was honored to be recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The girl’s name is Ri Song Mi, born and grown in the Rason city located in the northern tip of our country.
Since her childhood, she used to arouse the admiration of the people with her outstanding memory.
It was the grateful socialist education system of our country which made it possible for the young girl, full of dreams and hopes, to learn to her heart’s content.
Even an ordinary girl from Rason, an ardent lover of learning, was able to enter the Kim Hyong Jik University of Education in the capital city of Pyongyang thanks to the benefits of socialist education system of our country which picks out anyone who excels others in talent or gift and lets his or her dream come into full bloom.
Her neighbors, not to speak of her parents, were surprised and envied her at the news of her entrance to the university. On the day of her departure, they sent her off in delightful tears and told her to make the hometown proud by studying hard.
Owing to her special gifts, Song Mi was able to take part in quick reading club within 2 months and continued her pursuit of knowledge under the scientific guidance of the tutor in charge.
She underwent the quick reading training which required a high level of concentration and sharp reasoning ability at an unimaginable scope and detail, but there were also moments of waver being unable to get the knack.
In such moments, she used to discipline herself again, just remembering the faces of her hometown people who asked her to bring them good news.
Under the assistance of her tutor, Song Mi made a phased plan to cultivate her imaginative abilities, a turning point in quick reading, and increased her training intensity. Her quick reading ability grew with the day and she was able to take 1st places in a number of national memory contests.
But she did not rest on her laurels. She set an ambitious goal of winning in the global arena at any cost and devoted herself to training.
Her efforts finally bore fruits. She set a new world record by outshining numerous competitors who boasted of their memory. Thus she came to be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
When asked about the secret of her victory, she answered as follows;
There were also hard times for me during the Championship requiring a high level of mental strength. At such moments, I braced myself, looking back with deep emotion on the warm love of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who provided new houses with all the people on the same day, who had lost their homes due to the aftereffects of flood in Rason. That became the source of my mental strength which led to the victory.
As Song Mi said, the prize of International Grand Master of Memory awarded to her was not just an outcome of her dreams and gifted talent.
It was a precious fruit borne thanks to the love of our grateful socialist motherland, the fervent love for the posterity cherished by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who picks out numerous talented children born and raised on this land to fully display their talents.
Contemptible Anti-DPRK Stratagem Only Incurs Moral Disgrace and Destruction
Japanese government has started a nationwide anti-DPRK “human rights” racket again, advocating the “resolution of abduction issue”.
A “symposium” under the theme of “international cooperation to resolve the abduction issue” was held in Tokyo on Dec 10, 2022 in the presence of the chief cabinet secretary.
The Japanese government, having designated the period of Dec 10-16 as an “enlightenment week on north Korean human rights violation”, stages an anti-DPRK “human rights” racket on annual basis.
This is a part of its persistent anti-DPRK political stratagem and a smear campaign levelling at our dignified Republic as well as an attempt to cover up its own mega-scale crime against humanity.
Japan is a criminal state with a criminal record in the last century. It annexed Korea by means of force, slaughtered more than a million Koreans, forcibly drafted and abused more than 8.4 million Koreans as if they were slaves, reduced 200,000 Korean women into sex slaves of Japanese army. But it hasn’t yet liquidated its past mega-scale crimes against humanity for as long as eighty years. That such a country is talking about “human rights” is a height of absurdity in itself.
It is crystal clear that the Japanese government is now hosting the “seminar” on the abduction issue with the purpose of “isolating” our country internationally, taking advantage of the anti-DPRK “human rights” stratagem of the U.S. and the West.
One would discern as such with little difficulty considering the following: The organizations and individuals that presented their “name cards” to the “seminar” are, without exception, either those who had been involved in the anti-DPRK political stratagem in the UN arena under the pretext of “human rights”, or the plot-breeding organizations and the riff-raffs within Japan that had been squandering the “abduction budget” of the government.
Let me reiterate that we remain unwavering in our stand to the abduction issue that it had already been resolved irreversibly and completely through our sincerity and efforts.
What is all the more pressing internationally is rather the issue of Japan’s liquidation of its past mega-scale crimes against humanity, i.e. the forced abduction and drafting of Koreans and the issue of sexual slavery perpetrated by the former Japanese army, to which no statute of limitations applies, and the resolution of which does not allow further delay.
Contemptible anti-DPRK stratagem of Japanese concoction will only incur its own moral disgrace and destruction.

Stripped Veil of “Strengthening Alliance”
As the U.S. coerces Europe into joining in its pressure against China, the EU and its major member states are trending towards maintaining and expanding economic relations with China.
In early November, the German Prime Minister visited China leading a large contingent of business delegation. After that, the President of the European Council visited China on December 1. The French President Macron also expressed his intention to visit the country at the beginning of next year.
Meanwhile, during the G20 Summit held in Indonesia, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands held summit meeting with China respectively and expressed their will to promote exchange and cooperation in the fields of trade, aviation, investment, response to climate change, etc.
In a speech at the European Parliament on November 22, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs & Security of EU said that although the U.S. is Europe’s most important ally, the EU will not follow the U.S. toughest measures against China. And the Dutch Minister of External Trade said that the Netherlands will not copy the export control measures the U.S. imposed on China.
Such trends are attributable to the fact that the EU and its member states have more or less learned a lesson from the brazen betrayal of the U.S. which cares only for its own profits regardless of Europe’s interests.
The Biden Administration, since taking office, has talked much about strengthening alliance with Europe. However, its actions spoke otherwise. It betrayed Europe without hesitation like unilaterally withdrawing U.S. troops from Afghanistan and forming AUKUS.
Its betrayal didn’t end here. Taking advantage of the EU member states floundering in an economic crisis involving energy shortage and soaring prices owing to the prolongation of the recent Ukrainian crisis, the U.S. is replenishing its purse by selling liquefied natural gas at an exorbitant price which is 4 times higher than the sale price at home. Also, in pursuance of its ambition to gain supremacy in the world competition for cutting-edge technology, it is enforcing the “Chips and Science Act” and “Inflation Reduction Act” which will drive Europe’s high-tech industries to ruin.
The U.S. takes every opportunity to advocate “strengthening alliance” and “restoring transatlantic relations”. But the reality shows that they are no more than a mere lip service aimed at deceiving European countries.
In regard to this, the EU warned that the relations between Europe and the U.S. is really in a critical state, and that the U.S. should be awake to the change in public opinion among many EU member states, and respect Europe’s concerns.
The U.S. magazine Politico also said that criticism and outrage are greatly increasing among EU high-ranking officials and leaders against the U.S. which is forcing Europe into a tight corner by adopting the IRA even while raking in massive profits from exporting energy and weapons to European countries undergoing economic stagnation due to the Ukrainian crisis.
The Politico EU website dedicated to European issues remarked that Biden is a “friend” who says all the good things but looks the other way at the vital moment when his colleague falls into a pit, and his “kind indifference” is more fatal for Europe.
As the U.S. is stripped off its veil of “strengthening alliance” piece by piece, Europe’s reaction will get much stronger.

Successes Gained in Space Exploration and Space Science and Technology
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is putting great efforts to the promotion of space exploration and the development of space science and technology for economic development of the country and improvement of the people’s standard of living.
The country emerged as a state possessed of application satellite through the launch and operation of the satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2 on December 12, Juche 101 (2012).
According to the five-year plan for national space exploration that started in 2016, it successfully launched an earth observation satellite Kwangmyongsong-4 on February 7 that year and developed a high-thrust motor for the launch vehicle of geostationary satellite.
And space sci-tech symposium is being held every year.
The ninth symposium was held this year since its start in 2014 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea. The symposiums held so far have given full play to their great vitality in raising the country’s space science and technology to a higher level through wide introduction, dissemination and generalization of the achievements made in the space scientific research work by scientific and educational institutions across the country and exchange and sharing of the excellent technology and experience of the leading sectors and units.
The papers submitted to the symposiums so far number more than 1 700, and the symposiums have served as an occasion for sharing advanced scientific and technological achievements and for overtaking, learning from one another and swapping experience, and collective innovations have been made in the research of space science and technology.
Space sci-tech symposium-2022, which was held in November last on the theme of Space Development and Elevation of National Prestige, served as an important opportunity in accelerating space exploration by sharing and generalizing the successes achieved in the course of conducting campaign to break through the cutting edge for developing space science and technology.
The space sci-tech achievements presented at the symposiums are made public through Journal of the Space Association of Korea, and a certificate of registration of sci-tech achievement, certificate of introduction of sci-tech achievement and certificate of national sci-tech presentation are awarded to the excellent achievements.
Many papers in the fields of manufacture and test-launch of satellite, observation and communications through satellite, materials and elements of space, space environment and basic sciences and application technology have been put into practice. Especially, papers on the Korean-style agricultural support information system, fishing-ground information system and forest fire monitoring and forecasting system based on satellite images prove greatly significant in reality.
