Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Meets Secretary of Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, met Sergei Shoigu on a visit to the DPRK leading a delegation of the Security Council of the Russian Federation upon authorization of Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, at the headquarters building of the WPK Central Committee on June 4. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un gladly received Comrade Sergei Shoigu visiting Pyongyang again in just 70-odd days and had a friendly and trustworthy talk with him. Sergei Shoigu courteously conveyed the friendly greetings from Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un. Kim Jong Un expressed his deep thanks for it, and sent his warm comradely greetings to the respected Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Shoigu conveyed the special thanks of the Russian leadership for the matchless heroism and self-sacrificing spirit displayed by the Korean people’s excellent sons who participated in the operations for liberating the Kursk area and defended the precious part of the Russian territory as they would do their own motherland, fighting shoulder to shoulder with the Russian soldiers in the same trench Kim Jong Un expressed his thanks for it. Discussed in depth at the talk were a series of important matters for defending the common core interests by more solidly developing the special and firm comprehensive strategic partnership between the DPRK and Russia and items of mutual cooperation in different fields. Also exchanged in a broad way at the talk were views and opinions of the leaderships of the two countries on the development of situation over the Ukrainian crisis and on the international and regional situations. The talk confirmed the consensus of stand of the two sides. Kim Jong Un affirmed that the government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea would, in the future, too, unconditionally support the stand of Russia and its foreign policies in all the crucial international political issues including the Ukrainian issue and responsibly observe the articles of the treaty between the DPRK and Russia. He expressed expectation and conviction that Russia would, as ever, surely win victory in the just and sacred cause for defending its national sovereignty, territorial integrity and security interests. Expressed at the talk was the will of the leaderships of the two countries to continue to dynamically expand and develop the DPRK-Russia relations into powerful and comprehensive relations of strategic partnership that fully conform to the national interests of the two countries and wellbeing of their peoples and contribute to realizing genuine international justice. Kim Jong Un wished the Russian people eternal victory, prosperity and happiness and extended warm wishes to the respected President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, and the Russian government, army and people.
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance at Hospital and Leisure Complex under Construction in Kangdong County Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, gave field guidance at a hospital and leisure complex under construction in Kangdong County on June 2. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Kim Tok Hun, Kim Jae Ryong, O Su Yong and other senior officials of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea. Kim Jong Un was greeted on the spot by commanding officers of the units of the Korean People’s Army involved in the construction and officials of design institutions. First, he looked round the Kangdong County Hospital under construction. He heard from officials concerned a report on the progress made in the project so far and the future plan for construction progress. Going round various places of the construction site, including the outpatient ward section, operating theatre section, inpatient ward section and the underground car park section, he learned in detail about the construction. Saying that the work of building modern public health facilities in cities and counties across the country is a great revolution for developing the public healthcare, which has lagged behind other sectors, to surpass them in ten years, he stressed that our spirit of serving the people and attitude to them should be examined once again in the course of successfully carrying out this innovative plan with redoubled efforts. And he reaffirmed his determination and will to build all city and county hospitals into symbols of socialist public health in our era, which fully embody the Party’s plan for modernizing public health and its Juche-oriented idea on architectural beauty. Acquainting himself in detail with the functionality and convenience of elements of different systems of the hospital, he pointed out every measure to be taken. He referred to the importance of responsibly building three hospitals of different scales including this project being carried out this year as model ones for the overall development of public health of the country. In the course of this, optimal schemes for designing regional hospitals of different categories will be confirmed and on the basis of it, the future plans for building up the overall public health facilities will be drawn up in greater detail on the principle of ensuring economic efficiency and practicality, he noted. He said that the construction of a hospital is an ensemble of the latest medical technology and building techniques and what is as important as the construction is the medical equipment and medical forces. Strengthening of the medical forces should be regarded as the main link in the implementation of the public health policy and the main work that should be pushed ahead with on a medium- and long-term basis, he said, repeatedly stressing the importance of the task of improving the specialist qualifications of the regional public health workers in particular and training medical workers in a systematic, scientific and future-oriented way. Then he clarified the orientation and ways to this end. Saying that the pharmaceutical industry of the country should be radically boosted in order to supply enough medicines to hospitals to be built in all cities and counties across the country, he stressed the need to thoroughly examine the state system of supplying medicines and take reinforcement measures. He put forth various tasks for making preparations for operating the hospital. Then he visited the construction site of the Kangdong County Leisure Complex. He learned in detail about the construction from the commanding officer of the unit. He said that it is most important to firmly prepare construction workforce before anything else in carrying out the Party’s policy on regional development without an inch of deflection, particularly stressing that all the construction regiments should have a vital stake in strengthening the ranks of skilled workers and push ahead with their training according to scientific goals and plans. Referring to the issues arising in training competent design and construction forces throughout the country, standardizing and enshrining in law the advanced construction methods and achieving rapid development of the building-materials industry, he set forth important tasks for implementing them. Expressing militant tribute to the lofty ideological and spiritual world and patriotic devotion of the soldier-builders who are struggling with a single mind for completing the construction of the hospital, leisure complex and regional-industry factories in Kangdong County on the highest level, he expressed expectation and belief that they would achieve excellent successes in the construction projects by upholding the Party’s sincerity for the wellbeing of the people with heroic and resourceful labour struggle. Encouraged by his field guidance, all the soldier-builders hardened their determination to perfectly build the new assets for prosperity and model entities of civilization and rejuvenation for the regional people in this significant year, mindful of the trust of the Party Central Committee which put them forward at the outpost of the sacred struggle for regional development.
Press Statement of Chief of External Policy Office of DPRK Foreign Ministry Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- The chief of the External Policy Office of the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on June 1 issued the following press statement titled "Our efforts to defend the dignity and interests of the state will not be bound by anyone's prejudiced viewpoint and malicious criticism": Recently, the multilateral sanctions monitoring team (MSMT), the U.S.-led sanctions and plot-breeding body, committed a political provocation of fabricating and making public a "report" taking issue with the cooperative relations between the DPRK and Russia. The hostile act of the MSMT, a bogus group which has no legality in terms of existence and purpose, is a wanton violation of the international legal principles with sovereignty equality and non-interference in others' internal affairs as the core and a mockery of the fair international community. We express serious concern over the provocative acts of the West to encroach upon the sovereign rights of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea with its unilateral and high-handed political and legal standards as a yardstick and give stern warning against the negative consequences to be entailed by its reckless acts. No one has given the U.S. and its followers the mission and power to judge and denounce the legitimate relations between sovereign states at their own discretion, and herein lies the main reason why the existence and activities of the MSMT should be questioned and rejected. The MSMT, which was formed arbitrarily by eleven countries hostile to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation, is thoroughly a political tool operating according to the geopolitical interests of the West and, therefore, it has no justification to investigate the exercise of sovereign rights of other countries. The DPRK-Russia military cooperation aimed at protecting the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security interests of the states and ensuring peace and stability in the Eurasian region is a legitimate exercise of the sovereign right granted by Article 51 of the UN Charter which stipulates that each state has the right to self-defence individually or collectively. It is also a legitimate exercise of the sovereign right fully conforming with Article 4 of the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership between the DPRK and Russia which requires each of the parties to provide military and other assistance in case of an armed attack against the other. There is a thing to make clear in this opportunity. The reason why the military cooperation between the countries involved in the MSMT has not become the target of international investigation isn't because it is just, defensive and, moreover, peaceful. The legality and justness of the DPRK-Russia relations based on the new development-oriented point lies in the fact that they are the cream of inter-state relations that put an end to the era, in which a handful of countries formed an illegal and confrontation-oriented political and military group and resort to arbitrary practices at will, and establish a multi-polar world order based on genuine respect for sovereignty, equality and justice. The DPRK has the right to take strong countermeasures to defend its interests from the outrageous encroachment on its sovereignty and interference in its internal affairs by the member states of the MSMT The hostile forces' illegal plot-breeding moves will have no effect on the relations of cooperation between independent sovereign states and our efforts to defend the dignity and interests of the state will not be bound by anyone's prejudiced viewpoint and malicious criticism.
