Press Statement by Spokesman for Korea Association for Human Rights Studies

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korea Association for Human Rights Studies Tuesday issued the following press statement:

It was reported that the U.S. Congress recently approved Julie Turner, named by Biden as an "envoy for the human rights issue in north Korea" of the Department of State.

Julie Turner, a woman of ambiguous origin and nationality, has gained notoriety for plotting anti-DPRK "human rights" schemes while spitting out coarse invectives against the DPRK in the past.

Her absurd remarks are nothing but grumbles of either a person ignorant of even the concept of human rights or a human rights abuser embodying the inveterate bad habit of the U.S. which revels in meddling in the internal affairs of a sovereign state and slandering it.

Now that such a person has dealt with "human rights issues" at the U.S. Department of State for 16 years, how many countries and nations have suffered mud-slinging from her.

The fact that such a wicked woman was appointed as an "envoy for the human rights issue" of the U.S. Department of State clearly shows how hostile the U.S. administration is toward the DPRK.

Turner, who had served as a junior official of the Department of State for more than ten years, is said to be looking forward to working as an "envoy for the human rights issue in north Korea" as early as possible. It seems that she regards the post of "envoy for the human rights issue" as a high government post.

Turner should know that she was chosen as a political housemaid and scapegoat for the "human rights" plots to pressure the DPRK, a poor policy set forth by the Biden administration driven into a scrape in the DPRK-U.S. nuclear confrontation.

Former U.S. administrations resorted to confrontation rackets against the DPRK, fingering the "human rights card", but, eventually, they could not but suffer greater defeat and disgrace. And it is the miserable end of "envoys for the human rights issue in north Korea" of the U.S. Department of State that would retire in dishonor without any achievements during their term.

Turner will horribly realize that her job of playing the main role in the U.S. administration's foolhardy "human rights" racket is one hundred times worse than a lifetime junior official of the Department of State.

Lamentation and regret over destruction always come too late.

The U.S. is now getting frantic in its "human rights" smear campaign while maximizing its military hostile acts against the DPRK. This reality once again teaches the DPRK to force, with more powerful and merciless counteraction than ever, the U.S. to pay a high price enough to be unforgettable.

A retaliatory action of justice is bound to follow a sinister move.

The U.S. should ponder all its words and deeds, mindful that the "human rights issue in north Korea" can backfire on it spawning severe security issues.

Provocation to Be Surely Made to Pay

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- Ryu Kyong Chol, a researcher of the Korea-Europe Association, issued the following article "Provocation will be surely made to pay" on August 1:

Some days ago, a formation of fighter planes of the French Air Force staged a joint aerial drill in the region of south Korea with the puppet air force.

This is an irresponsible act of fanning up the acute tensions in the Korean Peninsula and an undisguised military provocation of threatening the security and interests of the DPRK, in support of the U.S. hostile policy towards it.

The U.S. is now operating the "Nuclear Consultative Group", a nuclear war mechanism, with the south Korean puppets, while pushing ahead with the nuclear war scheme against the DPRK at the practical stage. And it has deployed a super-large strategic nuclear submarine loaded with nuclear warheads enough to reduce a country to ashes, driving the situation of the Korean Peninsula to the brink of a nuclear war.

Just at this time, France dispatched its fighter planes to the Korean Peninsula which is technically at war. It cannot be construed otherwise than an act of regarding the DPRK as an enemy.

Such dispatch to our enemy's area was made at the time when our people, who paid a dear price to defend their country from the aggression by the U.S. and its allies following it blindly, were celebrating the anniversary of victory in the war. This arouses due indignation of the DPRK people.

If other country's fighter planes fly to the sky above the Strait of Dover and its vicinity, in league with France's enemy country, to pose threat to the security of Paris, we wonder how the French people will react to this.

Without taking into consideration the situation of the Korean Peninsula going to the brink of war and the feelings of the DPRK people, France dispatched its fighters to the region of south Korean puppets. The fact goes to prove that France has not yet drawn a lesson from the last Korean War in which it shed insignificant blood for the so-called ally.

This is not the first time France took action against the DPRK.

It is well known to everyone that France criticized every measure of the DPRK for bolstering up its military capability for self-defence to cope with the nuclear threat from the U.S. and persistently got on the nerves of the DPRK by sending warships and patrol planes to the waters of the Korean Peninsula.

France had better stop wasting its energies in the Asia-Pacific region with insufficient national power and set right its home situation of serious disorder due to the social discord.

If it continues to run amuck without discretion in the Korean Peninsula, the biggest hotspot, as now, it will find itself in an undesirable situation.

France should not go berserk with irresponsible remarks and reckless military acts, far from affirmatively contributing to defusing the touch-and-go situation created due to the reckless military moves of the U.S. and the south Korean warlike forces.

Japan's Defence White Paper Criticized

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Kim Sol Hwa, a researcher of the Institute for Japan Studies of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, issued the following article "Japan's defence white paper confusing right and wrong" on August 1:

Japan made public the "2023 Defence White Paper" on July 28.

As was expected, Japan in the white paper justified its moves for turning itself into a military giant, clamoring about "the most severe and complicated security environment after the Second World War" and "advent of the era of new crisis" under the pretext of "threat from neighboring countries".

It defined Russia as "serious security anxiety" and China as "unprecedented biggest strategic challenge" and described their joint military activities in around the Japan archipelago as "deliberate demonstration against Japan and serious security anxiety".

It also termed the DPRK a "more grave and urgent threat to Japan's security than before", asserting that "it is escalating the provocation reminiscent of more actual fighting."

As to the "threats from neighboring countries" mentioned by Japan so often, it is nothing but a smoke screen to justify its moves towards turning itself into a major military power.

This is clearly proved by the fact that Japan, in its defence white paper, doesn’t conceal its sinister intention to fundamentally bolster up its defence capabilities, asserting that Ukraine suffered "invasion" by Russia for the lack of deterrence, and is planning to put spurs to the execution of its new security strategy adopted at the end of last year, terming its "counterattack capability", to be possessed, "the key to curbing invasion".

It has been widely recognized that the U.S. and its followers are the chieftain that cooked up various forms of confrontation alliance in the vast Asia-Pacific region and totally destroys the regional peace and stability by continuously sending nuclear carrier task force, nuclear strategic bombers and other strategic assets to the Korean peninsula, the Taiwan Strait and other hotspots.

Japan playing a big role in such movement now trumpets about "threats from neighboring countries" which nobody cares about. This is nothing but a cunning trick peculiar to Japan to confuse right and wrong by diverting criticism from the international community against it to others.

If Japan, zealously joining the U.S. in carrying out the aggressive and exclusive "Indo-Pacific strategy", has no hostility towards the DPRK and other neighboring countries, there will be no reason for it to worry with fear about the security environment of the archipelago.

On the contrary, the modern history of Japan evidently proves who is the chief culprit that committed thrice-cursed crimes against the Asia-Pacific countries, the crimes that can not be washed away for generations.

It was Japan that swallowed up Korea as a colony, clamoring about "threat" from neighboring countries in the last century. It was also Japan which made desperate efforts to occupy the Asian continent by taking advantage of the Second World War and laid the foundation for militarization allegedly to cope with "military threat from the Soviet Union" during the Cold War.

Through this year's defence white paper, Japan has got pronounced in its scheme for arms buildup, revealing again its ambition for territorial seizure. This clearly shows that Japan, which has removed the military constraint of a war criminal state one by one, chanting the prayers of "threat from neighboring countries" since its defeat, is rising as a dangerous war force in the region.

The international community is strictly watching the behavior of Japan that has availed itself of the U.S. hegemony strategy, persistently embellishing its blood-stained history of aggression without honest repentance for its unprecedented past crimes.

Japan should be mindful that it will be not helpful to the promotion of its security but a self-destructive option for its second defeat to seek a wild design for arms buildup on the plea of neighboring countries without sincere apology and compensation for its past colonial rule.

The best way for Japan's security is to settle the inglorious past and establish friendly relations with neighboring countries.

Japan should draw a due lesson from the history of its defeat and stop at once the dangerous gambling that is fostering great concern of the region.

Two Systems in Stark Contrast

Cries of despair and fear for the future are now heard in many parts of the world as more and more children, the future of humanity, fall victim to all sorts of social vice such as murder and abuse.

It came as a shock when a Japanese woman was recently reported to have murdered and burnt her infant child.

Japan broke the record in 2022 with 115,762 reported cases of under-18 child abuse, out of which 2,181 cases were indicted.

This fact alone suffices to show the extent of inveteracy of child abuse in Japan.

Such being the case, Japan is trying desperately to embellish the plight of its children, never failing to miss a single chance to hype up “promotion of a new and improved child and infant care policy”.

The situation is no different from the U.S., a country that proudly boasts of “civilization”.

The CBS recently broadcast the survey report of the State of Illinois, which revealed that as many as 2,000 children were subjected to sexual abuse by Catholic priests in the last seventy years (1950-2019), an exposé of a much more disgraceful situation than what had been revealed in the 2018 Report on Catholic sexual abuse situation in Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Report released in May, 305 under-15 minors are working longer hours or sweating with life-threatening and illegal night jobs. Such illegal employment has reached an all-time high since the 2011 fiscal year with more than 250,000 child laborers.

The move is coming up in different parts of the U.S. to legalize child labor.

Arkansas and Ohio enacted the bill in March removing a legislation that had prevented 14- to 15-year-olds from being employed without a work permit. They were also allowed to work until 9 p.m., later than what is allowed by federal law.

Children who should be adored as the future of the country are now falling victim to immorality and social vice, groaning in the abyss of death.

Such is the reality of the capitalist society, clearly proving that the capitalist system is indeed the one with gloomy prospects, where children are reduced to an object of exploitation and slaves of money, rather than being protected by the society.

In stark contrast, children in the DPRK are called kings and queens of the country.

Our Party and the state are taking all necessary measures for our coming generation as we regard the work for them as an important undertaking for eternal prosperity of the motherland.

Children in all parts of the country grow up happily, free from any worries and envy and materialize their dreams and wishes to their hearts’ content.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un is of the view that genuine patriotism should be based on lofty outlook on posterity and that the government expenditure spent for our young generation is no expenditure at all.

He thus instilled such a philosophy into the minds of the people that nothing would be spared for the sake of children.

The whole country itself has become a large flower garden of socialism overflowing with affection of a family under his warm care.

There are many moving stories telling of the noble virtues characteristic of our country, a large socialist family.

Among them are stories about a girl mother in Kangson who volunteered to raise children without parents, about a man who rescued others’ children before reaching out for his own drowning child, and about numerous fathers and mothers who devoted their invariable love for children without parents for scores of years.

The days and nights of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un may as well be woven into a history of love for posterity.

Thanks to his warm fatherly care, our children will grow up into reliable pillars and future masters of the powerful country, free from all worries.

Crisis in Cost of Living in Europe

On July 17, the EUROSTAT released an annual report containing statistics that could help appraise the overall economic situation of the European society in the previous year.

The report enumerated high inflation rate and subsequent fiscal crisis, along with the EU trade balance that has gone red from black for the first time in 10 years.

According to the report, the annual inflation rate within EU member states recorded 9.2% in 2022, the cost of accommodation, tap water and energy increased by 18% on average, the traffic costs by 12.1%, and the price of food and non-alcoholic drinks by as much as 11.9%.

As a result, the households in the whole region of EU are feeling the pinch.

In January alone, most of the households within the European Union spent almost half of their living expenses for accommodation, traffic and food, and over 47.9% of the Romanian population were unable to bear the rising expenses.

The report went on to comment that 95.3 million people - 21.6% of the overall EU population - are either exposed to or in danger of poverty, dealing a mortal blow to the vulnerable population in particular.

In January this year, it was leaked to the press that one fifth of Swiss pensioners are living below or near the poverty line, causing quite a stir among the general public.

In March, the Statistics Bureau of Finland pointed out that 147, 000 of the disabled, a quarter of those in the country, are exposed to the danger of poverty line.

Meanwhile, the CPB (Central Plan Bureau) of the Netherlands released a report to the effect that the number of households living below the poverty line is expected to reach 995, 000 and that the child poverty rate is expected to increase from 6.1% to 7.1% by the year 2024.

The UNICEF FRANCE published a report stating that children in France are most vulnerable with one fifth of them living below the poverty line.

The EUROSTAT commented that the crisis in the cost of living will get worse with the passage of time, forecasting that nearly one third of the EU households will pick up the bills higher than last year.
