Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Watches Fire Assault Drill

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, gave field guidance to the Hwasong artillery unit charged with important operational task of the Korean People's Army on the western front on March 9 and watched a fire assault drill.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was greeted by commanding officers of the unit on the spot.

He acquainted himself with the combat and political training of the service personnel and the order of action of the unit for the important operational task and its capability to operate weapons systems.

He highly appreciated that all the service personnel are intensifying their combat and political training in a stand-by posture with high class consciousness, transparent will to deal with the enemy and resolute viewpoint on struggle and steadily perfecting their operational capability to successfully carry out their important military task.

Going round important elements of the unit and various places of the sub-unit, he learned in detail about the war preparations and military service of the service personnel.

That day Kim Jong Un examined the actual war response posture of the 8th fire assault company under the unit charged with striking the enemy's operation airport in the direction of the western front.

Leading officials of the Central Committee of the WPK and commanding officers of the large combined unit of the Korean People's Army watched the drill.

The fire assault company, which has trained its capability to carrying out strike missions in the definite and minute war posture of containing any military moves of the enemy at a time, fired a powerful volley at the targeted waters in the West Sea of Korea set under the simulated conditions of the major elements of the enemy operation airport, thus confidently demonstrating its capability to counter an actual war.

Expressing great satisfaction over the results of the drill, Kim Jong Un highly appreciated that the Hwasong artillerymen were powerfully and strictly ready to respond to actual war.

He said that the results of the censorship training clearly showed the important sense of mission that the army should be ready to fight any time and be responsible for an actual action rather than words and our clear, practical and unshakable will to take military action.

He stressed the need to always stay alert for all sorts of more frantic war preparation moves being committed by the enemy recently and maintain and steadily train the powerful capability to overwhelmingly respond to and contain them all the time so as to thoroughly deter the danger of a military clash on the Korean Peninsula.

Referring to the importance of the operational task of the unit once again, he stressed that the fire assault sub-units should be strictly prepared for the greatest perfection in carrying out the two strategic missions, that is, first to deter war and second to take the initiative in war, by steadily intensifying various simulated drills for real war in a diverse way in different situations.

All the combatants of the unit are full of their will to carry out their weighty mission at the very time when the enemy's moves for violating the sovereignty of our state and threatening its security cross the red-line set by the DPRK, by further accelerating the building of powerful war readiness.

Japan’s Military Moves Raise Concern of International Community

Japan, having legalized the possession of preemptive strike capability by reforming security strategy in the late 2022, is now in the process of its full-scale implementation.

The budget for the 2023 fiscal year recently passed at the House of Representatives of Japan includes the largest-ever defense budget in the amount of about 6.8 trillion. It is also said that it includes the colossal fund of 3 trillion for defense buildup.

That Japan has set defense budget of almost 10 trillion signifies that it set down to increasing defense expenditure to more than 2% of GDP.

More serious is that Japan, under the pretext of the possession of “counterattack capability”, is attempting to squander a considerable amount of defense budget into developing different kinds of military equipment to preemptively attack other’s missile launch base.

Typical example is that Japan is planning to purchase 400 “Tomahawk” cruise missiles from the U.S. within this year and deploy them for action by 2026.

“Tomahawk” cruise missile is a long-range, high-precision guided missile with various ranges and a notorious WMD used in Gulf war, Iraqi war and other aggressive wars the U.S. waged to realize its strategy for world supremacy.

Japan has an evil military intention to place the “Tomahawk” cruise missile on different Aegis-system warships in order to put China and Russia, to say nothing of the DPRK, within its firing range.

As a result, the current Japanese government has ripped off the mask of a “peace state” that had been advocated, though outwardly, by the preceding regimes since the end of World War II, and even removed what is called “total defense” which is a braking device in existence for form’s sake.

Japan, a country that inflicted indescribably catastrophic damage upon the Asian people including the Korean people, is scheming to possess weapons for pre-emptive strike while continuously increasing defense expenditure. This is no more than a dangerous military maneuver that wrecks the regional peace and stability.

This is no accidental that opposition parties and people of Japan are strongly rejecting the government’s military expenditure increase, saying that peace and security cannot be guaranteed by the increased defense budget. They also demand the Japanese government to maintain the principle of pacifism stipulated in the constitution.

It is crystal clear what its finish line will be if Japan stubbornly repeats its history of aggression.

It is quite natural that the international community is raising their voices of justice to stop worrisome moves of Japan to become a military power with high vigilance.

House-moving Season

In the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea a larger number of families moved into new houses last year than any of the previous years. In April, 10 000 families moved into new houses in Songhwa Street in the capital city of Pyongyang, followed by 800 families of labour innovators and other meritorious persons into the luxury houses built on the shore of the Pothong River. In the countryside, too, house-moving took place almost every day from the autumn to the end of the year. Many miners in the Komdok area also moved to new houses in the mountain gorge town built there.

Days Representing the Era of Transformation

Two years have passed since the Workers’ Party of Korea adopted at its Eighth Congress a decision to build 50 000 flats in Pyongyang in the period of the new five-year plan (2021-2025). At the Fourth Plenary Meeting of its Eighth Central Committee held in late 2021, the Party advanced a grand programme of rural construction in the new era for transforming the rural villages into more civilized socialist ideal communities.

Looking back, launching into large-scale housing construction, which demands a colossal amount of investment, was not an easy decision to make; the country was still in a difficult economic situation due to the persistent sanctions and blockade imposed upon it by the forces hostile to it, as well as the global healthcare crisis and natural disasters that hit it.

However, Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the WPK, regarding the decision of the Party Congress on solving the housing problem as a solemn pledge to the people, ensured that a large-scale housing construction campaign was forcefully pushed ahead across the country. He saw to it that powerful construction forces were mobilized for the campaign and all problems arising in it were solved.

Even when the country moved to the highest anti-epidemic emergency level after the malignant virus entered its territory in May 2022, he made sure that housing construction was pushed forward more powerfully, saying that work for the wellbeing of the people must not be suspended even for a moment.

It can be said that last year’s boom in housing construction was a fruition of his wise leadership.

Entering this year, house-moving still continues in the countryside.

This year, too, many houses will be built in the rural communities and Komdok area, to be provided to the local people in autumn.

Seeing their dreams coming true even in the face of difficulties, the Korean people keenly feel that their rosy future is not far away and that they can surely achieve national prosperity in the near future if they work hard united with a single mind and will.

In a word, the season of house-moving in the DPRK is a season of confidence in a better tomorrow and of ardent will to bring it earlier.

Season of Leap Forward to the Future

The new houses built recently in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea are luxurious ones which ordinary working people in capitalist countries cannot even dream to have. But in this country such houses are provided to ordinary people, and free of charge at that.

What is worthy of particular note is that the level of civilization of the Korean people is raised to a higher stage with the completion of each housing construction project.

When Mirae Scientists and Ryomyong streets were inaugurated several years ago, they considered them to be ideal streets. And when new houses were built in flood-stricken areas in 2020, they regarded them as models of rural houses. But when they saw Samjiyon which had been renovated into a model of a cultured mountain city, the 10 000 flats in Songhwa Street which combines formative and artistic qualities, the luxurious Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District and modern houses built at the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm and in various other rural areas of the country, they learned that they had to upgrade their cultural standards.

These standards will be raised again to a higher level soon when people move into the 10 000 flats in the Hwasong area which have been built as the first stage. It is clear that this raised level will be reflected in the rural houses to be built this year.

What is also interesting is that each house-moving season effects a rise in the creative level of the Korean people, too.

It is their will to build a modern economy by their own efforts and technology as they have constructed new modern houses with their own efforts. Propelled by this will, the innovations and successes in the construction sector are spread to other sectors.

The work of readjusting and reinforcing the country’s economy is now being conducted vigorously, and this work is planned to be finished in the main this year. The main objective of this work is to develop the economy into a sustainable one unaffected by external influences by making it rely entirely on the domestic resources and technology.

This can be proved with the successes the country achieved in economic construction last year; the regional-industry factories in Kimhwa County were renovated to rely on the local raw materials and technology so that they can become models for all other units in the country; a large-scale sodium carbonate production line was established in the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex and the first-stage renovation of the Kumsong Tractor Factory was completed.

The Korean people are trying to apply their raised cultural level and the requirements of the new era, whether they produce an article or renovate a production line.

It is Kim Jong Un’s creed that we should nurture ideals with an eye to the next century however difficult the situation is. Proceeding from this point of view, he examines and guides all the formation plans of the houses to be built.

The house-moving season in the DPRK can be called a season when it is advancing to a brighter future.

Taesongsan Ice Cream

Taesongsan ice cream is much popular among the Korean people for its unique taste and fragrance.

The Taesongsan Ice Cream Factory is located at the foot of picturesque Mt Taesong in the suburbs of Pyongyang. The factory is producing not only several kinds of high-quality ice creams but also non-saccharic and non-caloric drinks including peach, orange and mango juices and dairy products like coffee milk, peach milk and pineapple milk.

It was built at the time when the DRPK was overcoming severe challenges caused by an unexpected healthcare crisis, natural disasters and sanctions and blockade by the hostile forces. It was inaugurated in October 2022 amid the deep interest of Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs.
