Press Statement of Kim Yo Jong, Department Director of C.C., WPK
Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- Kim Yo Jong, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued the following statement on June 18:
The miserable position of the West, which has to remain faithful to the customary practice of shouting "denuclearization" in chorus although they admit the fact that it is an empty goal that can never be realized, has been clearly revealed once again.
At the G7 summit held in France, the U.S. and other Western countries repeated their anachronistic assertion about "denuclearization" while slandering the Democratic People's Republic of Korea with unfounded politically-motivated rhetoric.
G7, the chief culprit of destroying global peace and security and the international nuclear non-proliferation system, has neither qualifications to discuss the sovereign option of the DPRK nor right to deny it.
I express strong dissatisfaction and regret at the excess of authority of G7, a direct violation of the constitution of our state, and resolutely denounce and reject it in the most explicit tone.
They must be aware of the fact that "denuclearization", which is an irreversibly finalized agenda, can never be realized, and if they really do not know, it will only reveal their lack of political discrimination and lack of sense of the reality.
Obviously, the argument about "denuclearization" has gone completely out of date and this can by no means be changed even though the voice of accusation of any group goes louder.
Due to its destructive power, the nuclear weapon can be turned into the means of tyranny to harm the mankind if it is in the hands of injustice but it will be tremendous deterrent to contain injustice if it is in the hands of justice.
It is impossible to defeat injustice only by advocating justice, peace, international order and principle, and nothing is more foolish than to sit with folded arms in the face of military threats accompanied by nuclear weapons.
The DPRK got access to nuclear weapons to defend itself as it has constantly and persistently been the target of nuclear threat from its enemies and, therefore, the DPRK's nukes will lead to concern of no one but the enemies who are trying to harm the DPRK. And the illogic nature of the assertion about our "nuclear threat" should be considered focused on this.
Nuclear weapons are powerful means of defending sovereignty and cornerstone for ensuring peace, defined by the law of the DPRK.
The DPRK's nukes as a means for self-defence and countermeasures will remain unchanged in their identity and persistence.
The DPRK's access to nuclear weapons is its core interests to be preserved without fail and "denuclearization" is the line of no retreat that can never be crossed.
In any case, anyone who tries to hurt the core interests of a nuclear weapons state would make the worst option of inviting disaster.
Crime of Japan, Sworn Enemy of Korean Nation
Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- In the past, the Japanese imperialists plundered the forest resources of Korea.
The Japanese imperialists organized a log plunder mechanism with an aim to satisfy the demand for logs for paper, timber, shipbuilding, buildings and railway sleepers and robbed logs in an organized way through it.
After the promulgation of the "forest law", they made 2.2 million hectares of forests with good forestry conditions their properties in less than two years. They also issued the "Forest Survey Act" and plundered more than 13 million hectares of forests in two years. Such facts clearly showed the cunning and brutality of the Japanese imperialists.
The Japanese imperialists took big financial groups and businesses into Korea to select the forests with good timber conditions among the forests of Korea and to fall big trees on a large scale and carry them to Japan. In particular, they made desperate efforts to fill up the shortage of timbers when many buildings including houses, factories and schools were destroyed and incinerated due to the great Kanto earthquake on September 1, 1923.
From the early 1930s to the days of their defeat in 1945, the Japanese imperialists plundered more than one million cubic meters of timbers in Kyongsong County of Korea alone.
Such atrocities of the Japanese imperialists had a harmful effect on Korea.
Pulp, paper, timber and furniture industries and agriculture could not develop and, entering the 1920s, flooding had frequently occurred, causing immeasurable damage to the Korean people.
The plunder of forest resources was only a part of misfortune and sufferings imposed by the Japanese imperialists on the Korean people for the past decades.
